- Noland Arbaugh is the first human recipient of Neuralink’s brain-computer interface implant: an innovative new technology that allows him to control digital devices with his thoughts.

An example of how funny and savage Noland Arbaugh is, when he first got the Neuralink implant surgery, when he woke up, around him was the doctor and his mother. He looked at his mother and said, "who are you"? His mom looked at the doctor like..."WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY SON", and then Noland started laughing and said just kidding mom. That is a man who capitalizes on opportunities given to him.

You know... I was not one of those Elon fans. And the dude's got plenty of flaws. Yet, dude might be this amazing secret pragmatist. I wish Neuralink nothing but success, I suspect it's not a coincidence that they picked such a great first participant.

I can’t imagine he hasn’t gotten depressed at all, but there is clear hope now more than ever. I imagine his paralysis will be curable in his lifetime, probably much sooner now than people think.
I'm sure he has dark days (and that's totally normal and understandable) but I agree that his overall outlook is something to aspire to.
@@digital_downwhats interesting is most of us think if that happened to us we would just throw in the towel, but most paralyzed people tend to be on average as satisfied with life as able bodied people. Humans can adapt to so much if they are forced to.

Give Noland a robot prosthetic arm already, he's earned it. If he can control a mouse he can control an arm.
I am a quad and have a friend with a robot arm on his wheelchair. They cost around $50,000. He controls his with a sipping puff the same way he controls his wheelchair.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I know MS effects the CNS, but I thought they've also seen it affecting the PNS, which might mean Neuralink wouldn't be able to do anything for MS patients. With demyelination, it's certainly an astronomically bigger problem to solve than a simple spinal injury.

The main important point to mention about the Neuralink monkeys in particular is that they're already deemed terminal, so they'd be dying anyway. I'm also pretty sure that anyone that's against animal testing wouldn't get in line to be a human test subject or wouldn't put their kids up for it. These noble creatures are helping humanity excel. It's the best cause anyone could be a part of. Plus, they get treated much better than they would in a zoo or in the wild even. At least in the case of Neuralink (and soon to be elsewhere as well). It's a win-win.
Right to Try

They will I’m sure. They start off with someone with a disability to show in how it can do “miracles”. Then what comes next is probably not a good thing.
Blackrock has been trying to do this since the 80s. They bought out ancestry, 23 and me etc a while ago too
