Your PDA is your friend. When you scan things, it will tell you how you can used them. The game rewards your curiosity, but you have to read the PDA to get the clues. : )
The game is a little frustrating at first because it does not hold your hand, but it gives you all the breadcrumbs you need to figure things out. Which is really fun when that happens.

Hey thanks! It has been challenging to learn so far but definitely fun when I'm not making myself sea sick XD Good to know you have to read up on the items - that makes a lot of sense. I'll give that a try when we play again and appreciate your advice!
