    This is the first time I've ever heard this explained in a way that makes sense. My employer doesn't offer insurance, and ever since Obamacare started, I've chosen to be uninsured. I'm a single guy and financially I fall into a category that doesn't give me a discount from Obamacare. So instead of paying $10k a year in premiums, I decided to eat better food, exercise a little bit, and just stay healthy. I haven't been to the doctor in more than fifteen years, other than annual checkups that I pay for out of pocket, and I've saved a TON of money by doing it this way. Obama care did absolutely nothing for me... Or anyone else that I know, now that I think about it.

    I would NEVER advise anyone to go uninsured from a medical standpoint. If everyone followed this guys advice, they would not only reject "Obamacare", but also employer provided group health insurance coverage. The key is to find a plan that fits you and your family financially in terms of monthly cost, and cost at the medical facility. Most plans actually protect you from catastrophic medical bills if you choose wisely and abide by the plan rules. Not to mention the benefit many plans can provide in terms of prescription coverage. The anecdotal examples he gave don't apply to everyone on a macro level. Again, going uninsured can be risky, so talk with a "licensed and experienced" health insurance broker who can provide educated guidance, and then weigh your options and decide for yourself. Besides , there isn't a health insurance plan that will keep you healthy. Only God and you can do that. That would be my take.

Because he was preemie, we had to wait until he was at least 6 month or I would have had it done before we were discharge from hospital when I had him.
    thankfully, our deductible is super low and we met it when I had him. My husband works in big tech so our insurance is exceptionally good but I cannot imagine what some people must pay.

  • @jackiehawkins1188
    @jackiehawkins1188 День назад

    I'm agreeing with him, that happened to me too. It's cheaper than not to have a health insurance. If you're a healthy person, you might go throughout a year without seeing any doctor. You'll ended up having a lot money saving in your bank account instead of paying an insurance company for something that you not even needed or they might not even paying for your coverage anyway. The amount of money that you can save, you can use it for something else, it'll make you be more flexible in finances. One of the best thing that President Trump did in his first term was to get rid of the penalty for people who doesn't have health insurance. It was unconstitutional, US government can't not force US citizens to buy any goods or product.

    I think having an HSA where paying the amount I pay the same, and it is invested with an ability to withdraw for major medical would be prefered for me. I put about $100,000 into insurance (with employer support, it would have been about $150,000 - $200,000) -- as invested, that would have grown to $300k+ before needing to withdraw large amounts for family issues. You also have to have income to qualify for the premium tax credit. The PTC is the amount the Government pays towards your premium. However if your income is too low you don’t qualify for the PTC and you are referred to Medicaid. This year the plans premiums and deductible have gotten even higher and they are covering less. Medicare part B premiums are going up again in 2025. The Medicare Advantage plans and Prescription Drug Plans are also covering less. The system is not working.

      Obamacare is law. Only an act of Congress can abolish it. When Republicans had the chance to do it during Trump's 1st term, McCain betrayed his own voters despite campaigning to abolish it & voted with Democrats. Part of the solution to Obamacare is allowing people to opt out of getting insurance without penalty. The Trump tax cuts law abolished the penalty imposed on people for not having health insurance. Clearly, more has to be done. But the current system created by Obamacare hasn't made healthcare affordable. Your beef should be with those who said they'd make healthcare affordable but only made things worse.

McCain scuttled the chance to overturn Obamacare because of his beef with Trump. This was despite campaigning to overturn it. Only an act of Congress would overturn. The question you should be asking is why healthcare hasn't become more affordable since the bill was forced down people's throats.
