Hey Apolo! I just wanted to do a suggestion for future videos. I would really enjoy some more historical battles, or at least inspired ones. I really would love to see the War of Dwarves and Orcs, some battle from there. In Moria or some place down the misty mountains or grey mountains. Hope you read! Good video!

Good to see some serious Rohan cavalry play. And well-played indeed because they are tough to control well. Even with pausing I have troubles executing my plans well against the AI.
Helmingas are quite good in melee as well, by the way. And skirmishers and riders of the fold are nothing to scoff at on the charge, either.
I would have expected some more skirmishers as they are great against the heavy cavalry of Rhûn and the Mûmakil, but I readily admit they are one of my favourite units so I may be biased.
It's interesting that you bring DaC up, Pixelated Apollo. Although Custom Games in DaC can be really crashy, maybe seeing a DaC campaign would be cool. I've always thought the biggest strength of DaC was how many new factions and units they add, and how that makes the game way better than Third Age. However, your caution is entirely justified. Keep up the good work!

Dem OP Mumakil my man! Also question. How do you run MP Third Age? Doesn't it use gamespy which is dead? I play D&C and it's stable... for singleplayer at least. So long as you use the ram patch thing... otherwise omg it crashes every round. Would kill to see the Dol Amorth roster in this.
I wish you could click record battle after campaign fights... I had a one vs 3 as gondor vs 3 variag armies trying to exfiltrate the ring from Goel'falas in Harad... and omg... I won with 16 men remaining. 1500 vs 4500 you'd have LOVED it Appolo. It was literally down to the wire. I was gutted when I remembered the replays only save in custom or online. The ringbearer was the sole survivor of his unit as well.
it uses gamespy but it still works like a charm
one mor thing jsut do save replay then is has saved youre game

The Mumakil are actually really easy to kill with javelins!
That was a freaking good battle! Hope to get some more of those! The rohirrim (Is that how you spell it?) are awesome!
Once again great video! I wish the unit commanders had some control over their unit. Not so they could attack an enemy but enough to move out of enemy range when they are being fired at, like at 15:00.

Definitely try to do battles from Divide and Conquer. Not only are there more and better versatile units, it also divides known factions into more, making it refreshing to see different takes and tactics.

Fun fact: Soldiers who were charged by heavy cavalry usually didn't die instantly, unless they were lightly armoured, because their armour would block the lance. Most would just get knocked over and then get trampled or stabbed to death.

Apollo, do you think Total War could ever make a modern war era of total war? i know someone made the ww1 mod. but modern day would be pretty damn cool to see on this scale
Modern warfare isn't fought on large scale like this so it wouldn't suit a game like total war. The closest to modern that would make a good total war with lots of units would be WW2. Modern combat is fought with small numbers, a few hundred men in each firefight at most. People want you see huge intense battles, not small, slow gunfights.

Divide and conquer is just a great mod lots of factions units settlements , you should play it and add videos pixie but great work your third age videos are my favourite 😃

You know what would be cool? a labyrinth map. with a really low ceiling and you control 10 units max and have to guide them while looking for other teams

it's only playable in multiplayer, cuz IA can't find the path inside the labyrinth and freezes the game hard

It's for the normal third age 3.2. It has some special rules. get some friends and try it out

Did the Mumakil get nerfed? They seem to die a bit too easily now, but it's a welcome step down from the meter monsters they once were.
no, we just used their weakness from missile and javelines against them ^^, we focused them down the whole time basically.
