I wasn’t sure if I was going to watch because I’m not the biggest fan of the Ultimatum (Queer Love aside) but your reaction made me want to check it out! I hope you do more, I love hearing your thoughts as you’re watching.
In regard to the money part of marriage, theres a few tribes where the parents of the woman ask for a lobolo, which in english is a dowry or a “bride price”. It’s usually in the form of livestock, property, money, whatever the brides family asks for. It’s expensive and it’s a part of tradition that seems to make a lot of men wait a while until they feel financially stable. There’s a lot more people who know a lot more than I do, but yeah, it’s probably a factor in a lot of peoples decisions when it comes to marriage.
What is the Ashley of South Africa? Thando (it means love). Side note: It is such a culture shock to watch this show and there being someone with my name (Nkateko).

Untraditional wedding: as an officiant, I married my daughter/fiancé in a bootleg wedding at a Renaissance Fair, all in dress, with only her dad and sister. I thought my family might be upset but they all took it pretty well (to my face 😂.) It was everything they wanted and a beautiful day! ⚔

Also I think….and not even sure, but I think NC-17 means no one under 17 will be admitted to the show, and R means adult supervision if the child is under 18. So NC-17 just means like in no way suitable for children but R means as long as the parent is there with them it’s fine

South African here💕, so Ashley of SA can be few names because we have 11 official languages, Nthabiseng, Lerato, Mbali, the list is endless but these are common names
There alot of "Ashleys" but it depends on the tribe (Xhosa's, Zulu's, Pedi's, Tswana's etc.). But we share a lot of common names [within a tribe] because of the meanings behind them which where mostly taken out of the bible. But I'd say the Ashleys for Xhosa's; Liyema/Liema (the pillar of the family) and Sibulele (giving thanks) is common. Zulu's; Sthembiso (trust/hope/belief), Lungile (good/pleasant) mind you there are many more Like "Khanyi" is taken out of the word "Khanyisa" meaning to give light/ to shine in the IsiXhosa and Siswati language. "Sizakele" taken out of the word "Usizakele" meaning somebody that has been blessed in the IsiZulu language

Mitch looks great! I hate myself for saying this but I can't help it. My father in law was an interesting character to say the absolute least. My husband is also bald (went bald when we were 21) he always had a full beard no mustache. His dad rocked the stanche only and it looked identical to Mitch's now. Lol. He used to Everytime I seen him say "that son of mine better grow a mustache before I have to show you what it's all about" again, he was uhmmm...interesting. After my husband telling him to quit saying that and him not listening countless times my husband grew his mustache. Lol. He has a beard/mustache now. He's had it for probably 10 years just to shut up his dad at first. His dad has been gone for almost 7 years now but the stanche remains. When I seen Mitch's mustache I actually lol'd and remembered my weirdo father in law. (You don't look like a weirdo Mitch you look great.)
I wonder if they released them all at once because of Baby Reindeer. It's all anyone is focused on right now, so they had to do something to keep viewers glued.
