Your right, SOC gets all the props like a the first album such an important album. NWA and the Posse sounds like a compilation album. NWA didn't hit their stride until SOC and E's album and DOC's album
As some mentioned before the original cover is from the 12”single release that featured panic zone dope man and eight ball on side one as radio side, and side two was dope man and eight ball explicit side. At that time ruthless records was being distributed by Macola Records. They never saw that album as a official NWA release.
I loved this album. Boyz in the hood. Has more Bass than other version on eazy duz it. 8 ball was edited, the tracks were all good. EfiL4zaggiN was there best album along with 100 miles and runnin. They go to together basically.
Arabian Prince said it was originally supposed to be an EP. But the record company just throw a bunch of songs on the album or what ever you want to call it.
Rappenstine's "Scream" from the original Macola Records release was replaced by "A Bitch Iz a Bitch" by Ice Cube/NWA on the Priority Records rerelease.
that first album made them popular . the thing with that album is it wasnt what we would know as NWA yet , some disco style songs were on there also , which turned off a lot of fans . It wasnt about waiting on album release dates with NWA , they always kept new singles out on these 4 song tapes , plus one of them were always featured on other songs ,not to mention the artists they put out as well. NWA fans went on to be Ice Cube or Dre fans .
I'm reading a lot of comments saying this album was not ignored back in the days.... He's not talking about that, he's saying it's ignored currently by N.W.A members and in media.
That's not the their first album. That's a compilation that Priority Records released back in 1989. It was to capitalize on NWA's and Ruthless Records success at the time. All of that material was recorded prior to Straight Outta Compton. There was never "The Posse". Much of that material was by NWA and Fila Fresh Crew. I own the original vinyl of that "NWA" release that was distributed thru Macola Records (was released back in like 1987, when Ruthless Records was independent), that Priority Records used as the blueprint for their "NWA and The Posse" compilation in 1989. That's compilation is not their first album. The original vinyl NWA release was like an EP. Even in 2023 (let along back in the late 80's), that original "NWA" release wasn't a full length album of material. Hints why some of the Fila Fresh Crew's material was included on that 1989 "NWA & The Posse" compilation. Once Again, that's 1989 compilation is not their first album. That's why that release was pretty much ignored in the Straight Outta Compton film. NWA wasn't involved in that released. I think that was pretty much Alonzo and Priority's doing as far as that 1989 compilation was concern. Straight Outta Compton (1988) was NWA's debut album. That's it, that's all.
Macola Records was just trying to profit from the groups name, which they did. The album was a huge success. Songs like "Boyz-N-The Hood" and "Dopeman" were huge underground hits. We also got a taste of The D.O.C., previously known as Doc T.
2:15 they weren’t all part of NWA, they were all a part of RUTHLESS the record label, but fila fresh crew were their own group separate from NWA. Some people call it a compilation which is accurate but what it really was was a sampler album, a collection of songs from all the groups and artists on the label at that time. So, it really isn’t a true NWA record even though It says NWA on the cover, it’s really a ruthless records sampler compilation.
Anyone remember, " This iz something to dance to.." ? NWA going for radio play. Cube wouldn't go anywhere near it. Sounds like it was recorded back in Wreckin Cru days. On the Express Yourself 12" if I remember right....
This wasn't technically an NWA album as it was more a compilation album that a bunch of 12 inches put together into 1 album and originally was released on Macola Records and rerelased by Priority Records with the A Bitch Iz A Bitch track . Plus it wasn't just NWA and had a bunch of other groups on their as well being Fila Fresh Crew , Rappinstine , Eazy E and Ron De Vu . Straight Outta Compton was them as a group in a unofficial way since when the album was released they weren't signed as a group then when Cube ledft they did the 100 Miles And Runnin' ep but there was tension in the group as well so when Niggaz 4 Life came out they were no longer a group . Dre left to do Death Row Records and Cube was in his solo career . Thety were close to reuniting in 1995 but Eazy died of AIDS hence why that didn't . If only that had happened and the album had came out that would have been epic imo . Too bad it never was meant to be . NWA has left a legacy that few rap groups will ever match .
There album was just called NWA not NWA and the Posse, Malaco took advantage of several artist's that used there distribution network and didn't read the 'fine print' and came out with a compilation album without there permission like NWA, and the 2 Live Crew who are from California and hadn't moved to Miami yet are on that NWA and Posse album and The Fila Fresh Crew who are from Texas and so on.
It was a great album...Most people didn't know much of "gangster rap" in the late 80's . In 1988 they had a concert "Boys in the hood tour" Salt and Peppa , UTFO, MC Hammer, Heavy D. That album was less mainstream.. and got very little to ANY radio play
I believe they looked at this album as more of a Compilation album, plus songs like the NWA track Panic Zone doesn't really fit into their gangsta image.
I heard Cube talk about this compilation in recent Mt westmore interviews. There is a big difference between a compilation album of different artists and an actual studio album. I would start by looking up the definition of those 2. I have never heard anyone who knows music call NWA a one hit wonder. It sounds like you're a newer fan and that's cool that you are researching them, but it honestly doesn't sound like you know what you're talking about.
It’s a compilation of songs from the very rare panic zone ep and the boyz n da hood single two songs from eazy and his friend de Ja vu and macola records nwas first record label before ruthless wanted an album so they threw 4 songs from their fila fresh crew for go mesuare so that’s why when you go to Spotify it shows up a compilation album
It's simple. As an artist I will tell u. That is not a group album. That is actually a Compilation. If u look the artists on each song has their name as the artist credited for that particular song. Something that does not happen unless it is a Compilation.
N.W.A's first album was an E.P with the clean version of the songs on there too. Arabian Prince explained it all in detail (he seriously needs to write a book).
When they lost Cube they lost there voice and all that was left was Dre’s beats, done was the strong social political commentary, they begin to parody themselves losing their street edge and being taken less seriously.
NWA and the Posse was more of an E.P. and some of the material was used for E's album and Straight Outta Compton. And from what I was told if you have the copy with that cover it was actually a bootleg. I have that as well. I love it but sux to know it's a bootleg
Notice it states NWA and The Posse, they had no direction as a Group they were taking marketing cues from the East Coast! The idea was to present a Crew from the West Coast and when they did the West i.e. Ruthless Records, really had to way of knowing how to market N.W.A. as a group!
"So if you look at the first N.W.A record, let me clear that up because everybody always says N.W.A. and the Posse. Now N.W.A. and the Posse was a bootleg." "Was it?" "Yeah, cuz N.W.A. was the record, it was an EP called N.W.A. and it had, what 4 songs on it maybe? And..." "Was that with Gangster, Gangster?" "Yeah, when we left Macola Records to do the Priority deal, Don Macmillan, who ran Macola, threw a bunch of other crap on there, the Fila Fresh Crew, and all this other stuff and turned it into an "album" and called it N.W.A. and the Posse. So we never authorized that, that was a bootleg." "Intresting..." "Yeah..." "So I think that Candyman was on the cover." "Yeay, yeah, yeah, well, the cover was the same cover as the original N.W.A., uh, EP. It was identical. He just added more songs, called it N.W.A. and the Posse and turned it to a full album release." "Yeah, I bought that actually." "Yeay, yeah, yeah, so, be, if you find your other one that just says N.W.A. that's the original." ruclips.net/video/ECAfnZIN1-A/видео.html

NWA could be considered the greatest gangsta rap group, but not the best rap group of all time. That's a toss up between A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy and Wu-Tang Clan.
Maybe because that album was more of a compilation CD rather than a true N.W.A album lol. I don't think I have ever listened to that one. I've known about it since I was a kid, but I think they had abunch of people who weren't even in the group...I think it's the only album with Arabian Prince, or whatever he called himself lol. The guy who made this video should know it's more of a compilation CD by the songs listed and who they are performed by. I was a kid and took it as a compilation album rather than a true N.W.A one.
If we're taking real NWA...after Straight Outta Compton they were never the same without Cube....if we're gunna be 100...i got so much admiration for Eazy...without Eazy NWA would never have existed...but Cube was also an important piece of the NWA puzzle...post Cube lyrics were still hot...like blow the speaker up.. but they weren't blow the roof off...and if ur gunna also include EPs in NWAs releases...there is 100 Miles & Runnin'...5 tracks.... 100 Miles & Runnin' was a dope track and their first shots taken at Cube...as Cube already left the group and was fu**in with Jinx & Lench Mob and also did AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted album and 'Burn Hollywood Burn' track with PE and Big Daddy Kane...another dope track from 1990... and track 2 'Just Don't Bite It'...1 for the treble 2 for the bass...she's got nutt all over her face ...🔥🔥

To be truthful Eazy Duz Is a Eazy -E solo in the form that he doing %92-95 of the vocals but it was made just like Straight Outta Compton in the form of Ren,Cube,& Doc writing and Dre &Yella beatmaking and Eazy insuring the business side is in order. NFL(Niggaz For Life) is probably their most underrated album because of Cube’s absence they were forced to get better musically on all levels.
Yo, Mann I Totally Agree 💯
I loved this album. Boyz in the hood. Has more Bass than other version on eazy duz it. 8 ball was edited, the tracks were all good. EfiL4zaggiN was there best album along with 100 miles and runnin. They go to together basically.
It pisses me of that Arabian prince wasn't in the movie they did him dirty
Yep. He was the one that produced JJ Fad's Supersonic, iirc.
who really cares about Arabian prince.
who really cares about Arabian prince.
piss me off that how you spell off.
dirty you learn a new word
Arabian Prince said it was originally supposed to be an EP. But the record company just throw a bunch of songs on the album or what ever you want to call it.
I think there was 2 versions also. I remember playing “Fat Girl” driving to school in the mornings and the other version had replaced that track.
Rappenstine's "Scream" from the original Macola Records release was replaced by "A Bitch Iz a Bitch" by Ice Cube/NWA on the Priority Records rerelease.
@@Skorpio420 I don't remember "Fat Girl" being on one of them. Maybe it was ABIAB.
This was a cutting room floor compilation put together by a recording studio. You are absolutely wrong. Don't talk about what you don't know.
It’s not an NWA album. It’s a NWA and the Posse album. People don’t mention Faces of Death from bone too often either.
If you get it you get it
If you don't figure it out
that first album made them popular . the thing with that album is it wasnt what we would know as NWA yet , some disco style songs were on there also , which turned off a lot of fans . It wasnt about waiting on album release dates with NWA , they always kept new singles out on these 4 song tapes , plus one of them were always featured on other songs ,not to mention the artists they put out as well. NWA fans went on to be Ice Cube or Dre fans .
This was my fave NWA. Panic Zone is huge!
I remember buying the album when it came out.
Who ever said NWA was a one hit wonder? Easy Duz It and Straight Outta Comptom were their classics. DOC's first album is also considered a classic.
@This Guy man you know the autocorrect gonna do its thing bro lmaooo
I'm reading a lot of comments saying this album was not ignored back in the days....
He's not talking about that, he's saying it's ignored currently by N.W.A members and in media.
the unintentional humor in this video (exasperated nerdy voice, etc..) is entertaining even tho i agree with the premise. lmbao
Nwa and the posse have one of my favorite Eazy e songs LA is the place so underrated
Whatever happened to Ron De Vu?
Yea you right they never talk bout the first NWA album
They dont talk about that because they wont get as much royalties from that songa. they hide it so you will buy/stream any other song of the group
The Best N.W.A Album is N.....4Life thats the Blueprint for what we No about G Funk 😉😉
It was a great album...Most people didn't know much of "gangster rap" in the late 80's .
In 1988 they had a concert "Boys in the hood tour"
Salt and Peppa , UTFO, MC Hammer, Heavy D.
That album was less mainstream.. and got very little to ANY radio play
I ❤ N.W.A and the Posse
I believe they looked at this album as more of a Compilation album, plus songs like the NWA track Panic Zone doesn't really fit into their gangsta image.
I heard Cube talk about this compilation in recent Mt westmore interviews. There is a big difference between a compilation album of different artists and an actual studio album. I would start by looking up the definition of those 2. I have never heard anyone who knows music call NWA a one hit wonder. It sounds like you're a newer fan and that's cool that you are researching them, but it honestly doesn't sound like you know what you're talking about.
This is the very album that got them known nationwide, must of been ignored by those not apart of the "Culture".
Panic Zone was the shit
Panic Zone was dope, but it was the last days of electro at that point.
It's simple. As an artist I will tell u. That is not a group album. That is actually a Compilation. If u look the artists on each song has their name as the artist credited for that particular song. Something that does not happen unless it is a Compilation.
Dope Man was the very first song that I had ever heard from them before anything else.
N.W.A's first album was an E.P with the clean version of the songs on there too. Arabian Prince explained it all in detail (he seriously needs to write a book).
I agree slot of great stuff wasn't told in the biopic and yes the first album is a classic
I still jam that record, it's just different in totality than the street level stuff from then on
My pops had this on tape till this day i still love and play Panic Zone 🔊
Notice it states NWA and The Posse, they had no direction as a Group they were taking marketing cues from the East Coast! The idea was to present a Crew from the West Coast and when they did the West i.e. Ruthless Records, really had to way of knowing how to market N.W.A. as a group!
Also, the posse album doesn't have yella on the cover like you said. And everyone on the cover was not in NWA.
N.W.A. and the Posse was not their first album
Word! It has too be because of Money or royalties .............Someone else they do not talk about was Mix Master Spade.........I LOVE "Just Say No to Drugs" ......the guitar is Epic......I am pretty sure Eazy is on that too......All points you made are good......DOC missing........4Life Album and Eazy Lp was super dope......
Nope, NWA And The Posse, as we know it today, was re-released in '89 before Straight Outta Compton which was released in '88.
This album was not ignored, I still have the cassette and c.d and still be jamming it, but a lot of people don't know.
I meant ignored by NWA Themselves... not the fans
They also released an EP right before 4Life album.
Nwa and the pose went Gold tho,(500,000 copies sold ) why is it so ignored
Same thing happened with the Geto Boys they really didn't get real traction until the 3rd album that is Self Titled.
I had that on tape. Holy shit .
NWA and the Posse is a compilation album. It is not an NWA album. It's a various artists album, includin NWA.
NIGGAZ4LIFE IS not underrated it’s the greatest album of all time
The cover for that album was shot in an alley not too far from Macola Records
Because it was a compilation not an album release, solely by the group members
