They added One Click Export for Blender!
We did it some time ago (not today) but recently released a major update supporting Specular Workflow and different type of assets (surfaces, 3D assets, vegetations, metals and more). Better Megascans support for Blender in other words!

i don't understand s**t about game dev and environment creation, but this actually looks sick, like the Google Earth of textures and assets. And that blending/mixing feature, must be so amazing for creators

Actually that's not true. Almost every studio in this industry uses Megascans nowadays, and most artists already drag and drop assets since they've become outsourced most of the time, and you only get to make a few in a given project.
I absolutely agree with you that knowing how to make props is a great and essential skill to becoming a prop or environment artist, however that has nothing to do with your skills as an environment artist.
An environment artist's job is to create stunning environments, not just stunning rocks or brick walls. That's why even if an aspiring artist was given all the assets of a library like Megascans, they'd still need to learn color theory, lighting, composition, etc...
The idea behind Megascans is that by having the right assets, you can focus on honing those skills instead of spending months or even years learning how photorealistic rocks are made.

@@AkshayKumarG13 Basically before some assets like plants used to cost 12 points, others 8, and decals were all four points. You only had 40 points or something in a month, so it was a bit limiting to create environments like the ones we're creating in the breakdown videos.
With this new update the most expensive asset in the library costs only 4 points, and all decals cost you just one point. You can download almost six times more content now, and we've also increased the monthly point count from 40 to 60, along with giving you a 100 points for free as well :)

4:22 new Counter Strike looks amazing
Nice looking but there is also a reason cs doesnt look like that. Try being competitive in a world like that, visibility would be shit. With csgo already valve has had to put white paint all over the map to improve visibility on some places as the complex textures blend too much together and hide enemies.
On Lion King we were mostly using the displacement textures, assets are hard to pull off in a triple A studio but that helped so much on adding that super high realistic detail over the sclupt!

As a concept artist (and I was recently talking to another concept artist who works in Naughty Dog who uses Quixel) I'd love to see more demos that weren't just for Unreal but for a still shot workflow. Thanks.
I would love to see a Blender scene - start to finish showing the use of both models AND materials (ground, plants, rocks etc.,) that would be so helpful!

Hi! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
We increase the amount of points you get on the 4K and 8K personal plan and reduce the point value of our assets: a surface will now only cost 2 points and any 3D model will cost only 4
points (previously as high as 12 points each). An asset of any other
type is just 1 point each, including decals, atlases, displacements,
imperfections and so on. On a Personal plan, that’s 30 surfaces, or 15
3D models, or 60 assets of other types.
We also gave away 100 bonus points to all our active subscribers and new subscribers who subscribed before the 24th (September). It was a limited offer.

@@yustforfun Source 2 for sure would be able to do it, we just havent had any REAL source 2 games. Dota 2 doesnt count as its only ported to it without showing the real engine capabilities. Also graphics like that are not what competitive game like csgo needs.

I have a passion for this but havent looked into it too much as a career path. What are some potential careers I could pursue involving stuff like this?
Games and film are the primary choices here. Arch Viz is an option as well, though that usually requires a lot more studies in architecture itself. The gaming industry is booming right now with lots of openings all over the world. If your passion is art, games would probably be a good first step.

I use other software for trees which works really well but feel Quixel will be able to take it to that next step and give that ultra realism look many strive for. Luke Reznick Thank you Luke for the kind words :) Adding trees to the library is a significant focus, and is something we’ve been building hardware and pipelines for over the past 3 years-just as you say, they need to be indistinguishable from reality. I’m excited to say they are not far away now :)
Speed tree is optimized for ue 4, with Quxel textures you can create something incredible

Quixel Megascans + Ray Tracing for next gen consoles? :)
This is awesome guys, If I can give some suggestion, I would love it if you could make textures in larger dimension than 2x2 meters. Something that we can use for a wide or a high top down shots without showing too many repetitions in the base texture.

As Eric mentioned, those are in the works! In the mean time, however, this is a great way to utilize Mixer. By taking a surface and tiling it a few times for the coverage of a larger area, you can then drop down some other scan data and either use the height blend or procedural blending to break up the repeating details. You can even use the same base surface with a different offset then paint out those repetitions if you're needing a surface to be fairly clean.

Adding rocks in this Iceland environment is not a problem, but mixing it with ground (repetetive texture) is quit hard.
Dudes! make some landscape automaterial tutorial with your assets , or maybe, option in the megascan UE4 plugin to blend several materials into the landscape material would be flawless!!

I had a certain interest in Megascans a while ago, but as there is no Bridge support for CryEngine I lost interest in using it, but I hope this support will arrive soon.
