To be fair we have the building techniques now to make it work, we have gotten good at preserving the nice facades of old buildings and retaining their shell and character, whilst building new constructions inside which are more useful spaces. If that had been possible in the mid-20th century things might have worked out differently. You will also notice that in most of these photos of old buildings, there are tram lines running past - Melbourne was sensible enough to keep most of its tram infrastructure where every other city in Australia had fantastic tram networks they all ripped it out, but that was another absolutely baffling decision and it is going to end up costing us billions and billions of dollars to get back to even a fraction of what we lost if we even can.

There's a fair bit more in Tasmania, but I understand have to cut it down for time. Hobart has kept a good few of it's old world buildings, but unfortunately given them a coat of grey paint to make them seem unappealing. We used to have the Van Diemen's Bank as well, where the Metro building that looks horrific now stand (before then there was another bank that was built in the 60's, that also looked unappealing). Some of the building was transferred to Saint David's Park.
very suspicious but then why did they also take pics of it (our only way of knowing about it) and what other pics are hidden ... or maybe the good guys are revealing these pics to us ....

It’s funny that all these buildings were demolished at the same time ! How is that possible ? Why is a building that is only 3 years old gets demolished ? I believe these buildings are much older than the look ….
Melbourne and Sydney (Melbourne in particular) probably lost the most impressive buildings and the highest number.. but considering Perth and Brisbane have much smaller CBDs and had a smaller number of impressive heritage buildings to start with the 2 cities (particularly Perth) likely lost a larger percentage of what they had and now other than some government/ civic buildings both cities have very little impressive architecture left. Hobart and Adelaide although loosing numerous buildings seem to still have a large amount of their heritage architecture still standing.
Neat, but it's Sydney Opera House (nothing to do with Oprah Winfrey) and also some of the other pronounciation was way off key - you might want to expend a little bit of time getting the small details correct
I’m glad we’ve come to our sense as a society and have realised the value of our heritage buildings now. But so much lost in the last century

Yes, the great Aboriginal civilisation built pre-colonial days, wiped from history 😢 never forget tartaria

I could almost excuse the demolition of the old if the new wasn't so garish and off-putting.
love the music :)
So glad to see someone from Adelaide making these videos. I have been learning about it too. It is unbelievable. All of it. Do you have an IG account?
Electric trams in Port Macquarie 1901?

Isn't it crazy the number of fires that destroyed entire sections of cities and structures of note during a span of a couple decades?

So many historical and mesmerising building were demolished in 70s and 80s. What happened in that era?

What a outrageous thing demolishing such beautiful buildings

Geez, what were they thinking back then to knock down all these beautiful buildings??
Good
You didn't show the Potts point castle like massive building they demolished in Sydney,Grantham it was called,it's on Google

We've already started becoming pod people. Paying $800/month to rent a sleeping pod and share a bathroom and kitchen with who knows how many others!

Exactly
You made a mistake regarding Fort Macquarie, photo showed the Fort Macquarie tram sheds built further back in honour of the actual Fort

It's criminal to knock these down and probably a rort most of the time. Land grabs for high rises that won't last 50 years.
Bell view, LOL 😆
The Sydney Opera house was the only improvement
