Saw him in Copenhagen in 2019 with the King Diamond band. And saw him this summer at Sweden Rock with Mercyful Fate. It was the two best concerts of my life. And I have seen a lot of great bands throughout my 52 years of living. HAIL TO THE KING 🤘👑👑🤘

I didn't know that he left mercyful fate over a disagreement to becoming more marketable, but then went solo and became more marketable ultimately bringing more people to find mercryful fate by accident.
If you can find anything by Hank's post Mercyful Fate band, Fate, it wasn't to become more marketable, it was a complete change of sound to a more poppy glam metal thing. Really, really bad.
He's also the bassist for Armored Saint (which is the band that John Bush fronts) and Fates Warning meaning he's in 3 bands at once which is ridiculous.

I didn't get when Hank Shermann wanted to aim at a more commercial sound, and due to that King Diamond left to form his solo band, which was more commercial than the Mercyful Fate's first EP and 2 albums.
From the information I gathered this was something King diamond didn't like about his own band which led him to isolate himself with the rest of the members because King diamond wanted to remain underground despite the growing attention, this is what Mikkey Dee said and is to do with him leaving the band.
