Another thing that maybe deserved a brief mention was how slapdash the Hutt defense was during the Battle of Nar Shadaa, though that really deserved its own video.
Came here from Eckhartsladder. I LOVE your mod of Empire at War :) I check steam every day to see if the next update has come out. I can't wait to play as the sector authority!!!
I realize that most of the sources we have on the Pius Dea's Anti-Hutt (And alien in general) Crusades mainly focus on the Republic side of the story but it probably deserved mention as a relatively major military action the Hutts had to fight off. (And it's extra interesting because they ended up essentially teaming up with the Jedi and the Space DMV at the end.)
They could have been fit in in some way, but I plan on talking about the Pius Dea stuff on it's own and it doesn't really hold to the thesis of the video, which is more about how the Hutts used to be a military power, and how that changed than trying to highlight every war they were involved in in some way. While the Hutts were certainly important within the Crusades as a target, it's not exactly a war that shows the Hutts as a military superpower in the way the Tion wars did (it was after the Cataclysm, so the Hutts at that point were closer to the Hutt government structure most people would know about/expect), nor did it have much of a bearing on changing their military/governing philosophy. The Xim war is important to them really uniting and becoming a "Hutt Empire," the war with the Honourable Union showed how established they'd been as a military power at that point, the Cataclysm showed the change to the Kadijic system, Makeb showed an existence of Hutts who wanted to revert back to being a military power and just how much had changed since the wars with Tion, the Vong War returned their desire to have a military presence, and the Second GCW showed them again being one.
This is awesome! I'd like to see some stuff on some of the heroes available to the factions in TR, eventually. According to the poll, looks like we'll be getting Garm soon. I'm really looking forward to these videos. And I'm my favorite Star Wars character, Gilad Pellaeon is a video I totally would love to see.
Nice first video. I'm a subscriber at Eckharts Ladder and was glad he helped out and sent a link to your channel. I hope your new channel skyrockets from here on out.
Ecc said something about Corellian insurgencies which is something of extreme Interest to me! Everyone seems to think Corellia is some free wild west loving smuggler haven
Glad you enjoy it- it's something I hope to be able to refine a lot as I get better with After Effects and whatnot, so I can make it a standard thing for videos to show different areas and planets (or whatever else may be relevant)
@@CoreysDatapad cant wait to see it. Perhaps you could help me understand the post empire galaxy a bit more. The galaxy was... A little divided I would say.
Coreyyy. Really glad to see the new channel blowing up! :D If I may.... So, the map was a nice touch, though the lines running through the map, and territories within, are rather ambiguous. I *assume* that they're prominent hyperlanes in the area... But, since they're unlabelled.. they're sorta just lines. Also, I'd slow down a tiny bit, and maybe even add a little bit of the stated/given information _(or even additional information that might not have been important enough to feel it warranted inclusion)_ on the bottom, or sides for available reference while you continue the "lesson". :P As I always say... Please don't mistake any of my suggestions for criticism! And if it IS mistaken..then I hope it's AT LEAST taken as constructive. ;) Like the new channel my friend, and look forward to more in the future. :)
Thanks for the feedback. There's no lines in the video though, any lines are the boundaries of the coloured in areas, which are labelled. The red line through Hutt space is the mid rim's boundaries. I'm relatively new to After Effects, so hopefully as I get familiar with the program the graphics will become more clear.
Love the video. My only feedback would be to put your evolving maps over top of a scaled image of the galaxy. It would just help with scale. I understand that might be more difficult than I imagine.
Glad you enjoyed it. My goal is to eventually have a fully-animated galactic map with appropriate details, but I'm still relatively new to After Effects, so it'll have to be something that evolves over time.
Brought here by Eck's video, though I've been subbed to your preview channel for about a year. Glad to see more from you! If I may suggest another video idea, what about the history of Kuat and/or Kuat Drive Yards?
I really liked your first video and all the knowlege you got about star wars . I really enjoyed to watch it and i am curious on your next video Maybe you could do a video on the mandalorian miltary or that of the galactic alliance Excuse my english grammer i am from germany
Visited due to Ecks recommendation and definitely subscribing! If I could offer a small piece of constructive criticism-maybe slow down the narration just a touch in parts but that aside a great first vid !!
Hello there. I've been following ICW through your letsplay channel for a good while already, and I have to say that I really like this new development. However, it would be nice if you used more pictures. For example, when you were talking about the Hutt ships it would be cool to actually see them. Other than that I am quite pleased with the video. Hope to see more from you.
Great video! The Hutts often get neglected in the lore so I really like that you draw some attention to their great influence and importance in galactic affairs.
The Star Wars RPG I'm currently running has a number of ties to the Hutts (set during the Yuuzhan Vong War), so this was especially timely for me. Excitedly awaiting the next video!
Torn between wanting to see more on the Hutts and whatever is known about their weapons tech and ship aesthetic and how they fight, or a comprehensive breakdown of the combat droids of The Republic vs Sith Empire era
Glad to see you doing lore now! Would love to see a series talking about the history of thrawns revenge and the hero units breakdowns and history or even regular units and the planets that appear in the game
Came over from Eck's channel and glad he recommended you. I hope to see more videos like it and good luck with the channel. Also wondering if you will eventually do a bio vid on a certain Imperial officer.
I'll likely get to that at some point. It's a bit of a complicated topic, so it may not be in the immediate future but there's a lot to talk about there.
From Echarts ladder. Would love to see lore on the first schism of the jedi order and the birth of the sith. The emperor of the Sith Empire would be a great video too. Anyway cheers man looking forward to more content.
Great video! I subscribed! However, you may want to slow down a little bit when you speak. A few times it was hard for me to understand. I look forward to learning more from you!
Yeah, my cadence with that is definitely something that'll take some adjustment.I'm used to doing Let's Play content, so gotta get sued to scripted presentations a bit more again.
Good luck with the new channel Corey. I enjoyed the vid but a bit of constructive criticism, I think you could improve the timeline graphic so that dates are highlighted along the timeline relative to each other. IE if the timeline for the what you're covering in the video starts at 25,000 BBY and ends at 500 ABY then an event at 12,750 BBY would be highlighted in the middle of the timeline.
Thanks for the feedback. That was so etching I had considered, but while it works when you're doing different dates with similar magnitudes (going from 24,000 to 15,000 to 55 then it can work, but when you have stuff that also goes from like 29 aby to 40 that gets too compressed to communicate with the same system
@@CoreysDatapad I was thinking you could just have a different start and end point on the timeline for each vid. So you could use the same timeline graphic but change its scale so if you were doing a vid on like the clone wars then the start point and end point would only be separated by like 50 years instead of thousands of years. Alternatively you could do two timelines if you were covering a large time scale (say the history of a species) and then a bunch of dates on a short time scale (say battles within a war the species was involved in). I don't know how much of a pain in the ass that would be though.
It would be that way, but I was even talking about just within this video, where towards the end I was talking about the end of the Vong War with the Legacy of the Force stuff, which has a difference of about 10 years compared to the thousands for other stuff. I have some.different ideas for animating it that'd be along the same lines but my animation skills in After Effects aren't there yet
This video seems to omit the fact that the Hutt Empire was led by an "Archon" who was like an "Emperor" and that their homeworld of Varl was initially occupied by the Infinite Empire before which they drove off through an uprising.
Like it came down from the Ladder and loved this look at the hutts. Would like a look at the mandalorians through out legends or the new sith wars. Can’t wait to see more videos by you
Could you do a video comparing all the different lore related to how the force works (not only Jedi and sit perspectives, but aing tii, dathomiri witches, Jedai, and the various other force cults) and try to come up with a confluent explanation of the force and how it works that can be applied to each? I know it’s a tall fuckin order but all the more reason to ask it when you’re starting
If at all possible something like this about black sun/ the faleen would be awesome. Also a more in depth look into the bounty hunter society and how they interacted with each other such as any rules or codes they followed
Considering how much time I spend on Thrawn stuff for my EaW mods, that'd definitely be something I tackle in the future (along with the Empire of the Hand more generally)
I would love to gear more about Xim the Despot or anything in dated that far back or further. Fantastic video by the way. Really enjoyed the content. Found it very interesting. Also like your referencing to the timeline through novels. Keep it up mate :)
Would be keen for more videos on empires and border changes over time, a visual galactic history sort of thing. Kind of like how borders in our history changed constantly, seeing one in star wars like this video is quite interesting since we don't really see much like it.

"We will watch your career with great interest."

Impressive, most impressive
A complete series on the Vong War through the 2nd Galactic Civil War (including the Dark Nest Crisis)
Yes yes yes that series would be epic
I like this one
Yes please
I cant wait for this to blow up
@Sand idk smoothskin
The Hutts: Slow and steady wins the race. i wouldnt be surprised if they eventually ruled the galaxy via slow creep.
I'm a huge SW eu lore fan and this channel is, ''A suprise im sure, but a welcomed one''

Could you and Eck talk about the nitty gritty of the Hutt Military? Stuff like their ships and tactics? I'd love to see you two collab more often.
hey Corey thank you for all your work and warm welcome to your new channel. Hyped to see you views and experience with star wars and maybe more?

Ive always wanted to know how the hutts got so much power and influence
Here from Eck's channel. Great first video. Ill be sticking around for more 👍
Lots of nice info about the Hutts.
This is getting out of hand, now there are two awesome star wars lore channels!

just a tip when showing galactic maps i would suggest making the background static or not using a star-scape because it conflicts with the map.
