It's not basic at all, it's classic. I never wear vintage clothes. But I live in a vintage styled apartment & I listen to vintage music all day long. The problem is, I exist in leggings & hoodies lol. So I will be here for your next video when you start to make some of these garments. It might inspire me to actually buy my first sewing machine x
Ahhh, I am jealous! My man doesn't appreciate the vintage home decor 🥲 I will keep my fingers crossed and hope you'll get a sewing machine and start sewing along with me😃❤️❤️❤️
I think the capsule wardrobe sounds great and not boring at all. As sewists we all fall into the trap of making all the pretty things and in real life do not always have the occasion to wear them. I look forward to watching your progress 😊
Years ago when I quit smoking and gained weight, I made skirts and unlined jackets with blouses so I could mix and match. I worked in an office and needed to wear skirts/dresses. That was back in 1990 before the internet and “capsule” wardrobes. I was just trying to be thrifty. Thanks for sharing your plans. Best wishes.
I made that waistcoat. It's flattering because it's actually cut to my size (after getting through the multiple mock-up process...). "Dress the body you are in". Anything that you make will suit you because you've mocked-up the changes to have it suit you the way you want. Those exact capri pants are on my to-do list - I just have to get over being intimidated by the pattern pieces. Maybe you could match the lining of your jacket to one of your blouses (like a Chanel or a Dior suit)? Gardener pants for me to work on our own balcony garden is inspired. Thank you. I too will be attempting to sew an everyday wardrobe for myself this year. _Small tip for the waistcoat_ - Apparently you can spit darts into two if one dart is a little too large. This was an issue for me after finishing with the FBA on the bodice. You can do a pattern adjustment similar to a FBA to accommodate for tummy and tush. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Thank you so much for this comment, Cathy!😃❤️ I love the idea of using the same fabric for a blouse and a jacket lining!! I'm looking forward to seeing the evolution of your capsule wardrobe. I have a few basics planned. Last year I ended up with abdominal surgery scars. Been 9 months since the last surgery but waistbands are painful. Also put on some weight, so a few things until I lose some weight and while the scars slowly heal. Almost everything I have is black because I still enjoy being a Goth at my age. For work, I also have navy blue, tan, and grey trousers and skirts. My clothes can be dressed up or down depending on accessories. So when off work, I do different belts, jackets, shoes, purses and jewelry. I don't have many clothes. I mix and match everything and am fine with the same things years on end.
I'm so sorry to hear about your surgery and that the scars are still affecting you! @@Marlenasewing thank you for the well wishes for the upcoming year. I see the very slow healing scars as small thing as 14 months ago I was admitted to the hospital and had 9 kinds of sepsis. I had a less than 1% chance of survival and here I am 😄. I love really nice clothes but having them means that I have to sew them as well as not have so many clothes. It's fine though. Dyslexia team 🙌🏻 I'm so in for this video series 💖. I tend to make capsule wardrobes for summer and it's too much fun, and in reality it's a capsule wardrobe every year that works with the year before, infinity loop of capsules to make a big wardrobe that works together 🤣. Maybe you already knew this but in the 50s some companies made capsule wardrobe patterns 🧐, an I think are great for inspo, maybe you can find some there too for your summer plans (because they are usually summer oriented 😉). Mix- match weekend wardrobes are some of this patterns called 😃
Haha dyslexics unite 😂💪 I have two patterns in my stash for a summer wardrobe 🤩🤩🤩 I am thinking of digitising and making them available in my store. I hope I will get it done before summer. You're right. Those patterns are absolutely fabulous and so cute! Buying one pattern to make a whole capsule wardrobe with sounds super practical 😃
I like all the color combinations. I sort of have a capsule wardrobe. I have a lot of jumper dresses (based on the Herjolfsnes dress) that I can wear with multiple tops. And I have a lot of circle skirts that I wear with the same tops. And I, too, dress very over the top. I am a Neo-Edwardian, and I wear all my floor length skirts to church.
Oh my goodness! I think those Edwardian dresses and skirts (... and blouses!) are the prettiest thing ever😍 people must LOVE seeing you come to church! 😍
Lovely video! Thank you! I would like to know what pattern you used for your blouse in the beginning of the video. Also what patterns you are planning on using besides the pussy bow blouse for your tops/blouses. Thank you in advance!

Don't feel bad about changing size. To live is to change.
That's well said 🙏❤️❤️❤️
I am English and I am laughing at your fantastic use of the language, but also very much looking forward to seeing you create these items xx
I'm so glad you don't feel like I'm butchering your beautiful language 😅 thank you so much for watching, and I would love to have you here for the ride 🥳❤️
@@Marlenasewing I subscribed with notifications the second I found you and then watched your earlier videos, definitely in it for the long haul xx
You honestly made my day! Thank you so much!🙏😃 I am still surprised that anyone would like to watch me at all😅
Perhaps for summer make shorts or a skirt in a floral print that matches your lavender, pistachio, and blue tops? Could be fun and more casual look.
Absolutely!😃 that sounds like a wonderful idea! It would keep the capsule wardrobe in the same pallet, but add a little summer pizzazz to it 😃
I recently stumbled over your channel and love it! Your style, your humor, your energy.. *chefs kiss* Love to follow you on this journey (and was currently watching while making a skirt for my own Basic *itch wardrobe 😂, but more mod 60s & 70s ish) love from Germany!
Oh my goodness!🙈Thank you so much!!❤️ I am so new on YT. It's still incredible to me that someone wants to watch these videos 😅❤️❤️❤️ you made my day! Let's sew our Basic B*ich wardrobes together!💪
Dyslexia team 🙌🏻
I'm so in for this video series 💖.
Haha dyslexics unite 😂💪
I have two patterns in my stash for a summer wardrobe 🤩🤩🤩 I am thinking of digitising and making them available in my store.
@@Marlenasewing I have been known to make little girls squeal and find their mothers so they can see the lady dressed like a princess.😊
Overalls=Dungarees=garden pants.
Lovely video! Thank you!
I would like to know what pattern you used for your blouse in the beginning of the video. Also what patterns you are planning on using besides the pussy bow blouse for your tops/blouses.
Thank you in advance!
I was actually thinking about making a video next week going over all the patterns I was thinking of using.😃 Would you find that interesting? Oh, and I was wearing a shirt dress I made in one of the previous videos 😃❤️
Feed two birds with one scone :)
Hahaha! I love it!!😂❤️ I'll use that from now on!
couldn't find the squirrel!
Haha, there is nothing better than a cat in a box anyway! 😂 thank you so much for watching!❤️
🐿
Thank you so much for watching!🙏😃❤️
I also don’t like the saying “kill two birds with one stone” so I say “feed two birds with one scone” instead! :)
I'm going to use that from now on!😃😃😃❤️
I think with a circle and pencile skirt plus high waisted jeans plus a sweater, shirt and cardigan you can't do anything wrong
🐿️
Thank you so much for watching 😃🥳❤️❤️
Do you not have instagram? I would love to see photos of your makes.
I should start an account, shouldn't I?🙈 I'm just so bad at social media, I'm honestly a bit scared to start😅🙈 I will link it in the video description if I start an IG account.
A shirt dress, one pair of vintage pants, tops in general oh maybe best an average skirt, circle, girl, wake up skirt your option that you made advantage magic sorry English, not my first language to spell it wrong
Don't worry, I sound like a donkey kicked me when I was little when I speak English, so I'm not here to judge 😂❤️ thank you for your comment!
Squirrel!! Looking forward to seeing everything you make. I too am planning to make myself a wardrobe, but its far less organized than what you are doing.
Yay! Thank you for watching😃❤️! I will keep my fingers crossed for both of us to sew everything we envisioned this year!😃
hi, first 🤞for your spring pic nic, make it happends! for my own sanity i've stopped try to pretend to be a normal human being for ten yaers now, it's sooo refreshing, normal is sooo boring^^ you are planning a lot of work, i'm really interressed to see all that. bye 🐿
Hahaha! I think that's probably the best way to go! 🙈 I should give up trying to be normal too, I guess. I don't think I'm kidding that many anyway 😂 thank you so much for watching!❤️❤️🙏
@@Marlenasewing thanks to you! you are making very delightful video 🙃
It only takes one person wearing ballgowns to walmart for a trend to start....Seriously...why don't we wear stunning dresses often?
