We were going to use the old flag but decided to use this one because people would be able to recognize it more easily for the quick visual joke. You're right though.

I feel very sorry for this man because he was the quintessential victim of circumstances, victimized by factors and circumstances totally outside his control. May his soul rest in peace.
"Yuan Shi-Kai" was the man's full name, and would have been referred to by his family name "Yuan" and never by his personal name "Shi-Kai". When he was temporary president he was a President Yuan. Chinese names are written with family names first, not in the European way of "first name the last name" Calling him Shi-Kai would be like calling Abraham Lincoln, President Abraham.
Puyi believed he was going to rule Manchukuo from Mukden, but instead the Japanese made Xinjing the new capital and housed him in an old salt tax office, which became his new palace.
Really sloppy of you to use the modern People's Republic of China's flag for the Republic in the early 1910''s when the Communist Party didn't come into power till 1949 instead of Republic's(aka Modern Taiwan)flag
it’s a terrible example. Also, he probably meant that the Chinese state existed as an empire for 2000 years, not that it was ruled by the same family all this time.

Couldn’t help, but notice our narrator said “the evil, communist Mao” near the end of this video aren’t you supposed to take some kind of journalistic neutrality when narrating? However, this is a really good channel.
You say that like he'd know how Tze is meant to be pronounced. That's not a string of characters in any English word. I'm not saying this to be disrespectful of her name, but if you don't speak a language that has certain sounds or tones then you are unlikely to replicate them in a way that sounds even vaguely correct for a native speaker.

It seems like countries usually get better when nations decide to put the rich people to death. French Revolution improved conditions in France. Chinese revolution improved conditions in China. China was actually better under Mao even if it still kinda sucked. Take a page from history. We don't need our rich oligarchs. We're better off without them. Was there ever a time in history where giving more money and power to the rich actually worked for anybody but the rich? I can't think of any historical event where that was the case.
You really do not know about those events if you say that. Considering the French Revolution was known to be one of the most bloody pages of French history. Same thing with China's revolution. Revolutions being good for the common man are an anomaly.

Mao was a pretty shitty leader and not much different from the previous emperors. The only reason he even allowed for industrialization to proceed was because he liked showing off. Not defending his horrible antics and behavior (i mean he boiled a child). But he was abused from day one, used by everyone in his life, had unlimited power that was stripped away. Like he was so out of sorts not living the big life that he joined an enemy faction in his own country. Blunders you could only make if you were a spoiled, abused, broken person imo.
