Yes, that guitarrist was indeed Mikio Fujioka, who we lost on January 5, 2018. A sad day for music.
And funny you should mention the click-track. With the complex music, extensive choreography and advanced stage show, Babymetal does indeed rely heavily on a click-track and various vocal cues in their in-ear monitors (there are recordings of these tracks available on RUclips, if you are curious). But in this particular performance, Su's ear piece actually lost the signal, and she couldn't hear anything.
And by the way, _"Tales of the Destinies"_ is actually an homage to _"The Dance of Eternity"_ by *Dream Theater.* Absolutely a song you should listen to, if you don't know it already.

Thanks for coming back with more BM songs and this time with another special song from their 2nd album Metal Resistance, and this one is even more meaningful, this song was performed previous to last and ending the show.
Nice you put some watermarked logo to avoid being blocked, don't worry about it, fans already know the clean version.
It took several years for KobaMetal (the producer and mastermind of this group) to create this progressive metal song along with "The One" which is the next song, he's a Dream Theater fan. This song was performed only one time at Tokyo Dome 2016 with 55K fans witnessing this special and one of a kind live concert, people from all over the world attended this two nights performing their entire catalogue by that time from 1st and 2nd album, only song they didn't performed was From Dusk Till Dawn.
There's a lot of crazy transitions and dope time signature changes. Is one of the hardest song they ever performed, even some troubles suddenly happened when performing this but fortunately they made it through like a real pro. I always love the reaction over that piano section with the cutesy dance moves.
The piano outro is no other than "The One" melody announcing the next song with this peaceful bridge. Both songs were originally part of the same song but it was split in two parts. The One is a song dedicated to all of us their fans, we're The One, and that should be the perfect follow up, although isn't a progressive metal song, more like hard rock ballad with progressive rock.
The Kami Band members this night are: Mikio Fujioka (R.I.P. nice spot) and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Remember according to the lore all of them were send to help the girls with the metal sound. This time you're watching their regular costume back then wearing burial white robes and corpse face paint representing those spiritual entities.
Glad you liked this one, there's a reason for this performed only one time and that should stay that way for everyone who witnessed this special moment in BM career.
    Next suggestion:
    - Iine! Official MV
    See you next time🦊🤘🔥

    Nice one, thanks!
Yes, that was Mikio Fujioka with the black ESP E-II Horizon FR-7 BLK. Rest in peace Ko-Gami. He wasn't smiling right there probably because he was a little... busy. But you can tell he's enjoying his work when he lifts his left foot. Not to mention Ohmura (ESP Snapper 7 Ohmura Custom aka "Pink-chan") having a blast.
This is the only tine they performed "TOTD" live. My theory is that the song is very difficult to play and Mikio is not among us anymore. He was Ohmura's sensei, mentor and best friend. So they knew perfectly each other and, because of that, they were confident enough to play this sone live.
I admit not being much into prog metal and being like WTF at first. But watching this incredible live performance made me enjoy the song and, followed by "The ONE", it became one of my favorite BABYMETAL moments.
By the way, the little piano breakdown is totally awesome! 😁
    Until next time!

This and 'The One' (the song they dedicated to the fans) started life as parts of the same song but were separated quite early in the writing process. The piano at the end was actually the bridge into 'The One' which followed this and closed out the first night of their Tokyo Dome shows in 2016. The two tracks also closed out the Metal Resistance album.
This was their homage to Dream Theater and their song 'Dance of Eternity'.
Tokyo Dome was the sole live performance of TotD to date. It may have looked and sounded flawless, it wasn't without it problems ... yes they have click track, but just as they started Su-metal's IEM failed. In an interview, Su-Metal said: "TOTD was very difficult, especially it has no rhythm. It does, of course, but looks no ..... About 10 second after its start, I lost correct tune and it continued for the 1st verse, I regretted it ..... I am still regretful for it so I have an intention to retry it". Apparently she was taking her cues from listening to the drums. She is so professional you wouldn't have a clue there was a problem.
Oh, just something you said at the start, I would be very surprised if BABYMETAL fans are questioning you listening to other stuff, you will get back to BABYMETAL when you do, we will wait - from comments I have read I can definitely believe it of the fans of the other band you mentioned.

@@EllisLamarMusic I am a longtime musician myself and the thought of sitting here trying to count the actual number of time signature changes just makes me cringe (not a math-rock guy either), so I'll touch on the Artistic aspect. I think your on to something, basically counting every note as a change. However, If you listen to it once or twice all the way through, its not complex in a disjointed way, not cobbled together. The song actually fits together with its transitions being so well imagined that it has continuity throughout.
It all sounds like one song, one long melodic line. Even the ragtime bit belongs right where it is. Its almost like the song fits so naturally that Su just flowed through her parts without really needing her click to count it out. She just kind of sung the words where they organically belonged. Even the rests flow in this song, it is an impressive composition.
      In other words,
I bet they practiced the living hell out of this song just to perform it this one and only time.

The fact that BABYMETAL can make a complex prog-metal song kind of catchy, and dance to it, is impressive. The music is very reminiscent of Dream Theater. They are amazing musicians, but their instrumental music is more of a technical showcase rather than songs that are meant to be enjoyed by normal people. BABYMETAL adopts the complexity and adds life to it.

This is homage to Dream Theater’s The Dance of Eternity, and was a fu to all those people criticizing Babymetal. They did a similar fu when people were calling their music bubblegum pop, by creating a literal song about bubble gum and a mint flavored time machine called Awadama Fever. I recommend the Fox Festival 2017 version with the Kami band intro.
This is the first half of what was going to be one long prog song. The other half is a song called The One, much less prog, and much more melodic. The One is a song dedicated to their fans. They split the songs early in their production. Tales of the Destinies was only ever performed once live, and was immediately followed by The One, which you could hear the piano arrangement going into it. Well worth watching it. The only Tokyo Dome version of The One on YT has a giant watermark over it (which is fine for us) that allows reactions, it's on Babymetal Reactor Resource.
The girls operate on click tracks. The synth, piano and violin in their songs is backtrack, and if they and the band aren't accurate, the whole thing falls apart really quickly. The timing of their choreo and music is so accurate, you can easily take performances of the same song at different concert and stitch them together without any issue.

To fill in other questions here, this is not only a live performance at Tokyo Dome, but is the first of 2 straight nights at Tokyo Dome. Tokyo Dome is the biggest indoor baseball field in the world, and they sold that out two nights straight, with 55,000 people going to each show. BM played to a good 110,000 people in those two nights, and this was the only time they had ever performed this piece.
But if you're impressed by the guitars in this with Mikio and Takayoshi Ohmura (who wouldn't be), think about how well BOH would have to be holding down the entire bass line, as it is just as impressive, and Hideki Aoyama on drums. This is being played in the round, so even with click tracks (which they were using), imagine Hideki keeping the drums as tight as they are, with his back to the rest of the band.
As rare as this is (BM's label blocks this worldwide), when you see how this segues into The One, including the effects while the piano is playing, you'll see how truly rare and amazing this show was.

You will likely see from various reviews that this was the only live performance of this song. The music doesn't end, that piano at the end of the video joins with the song "The One", which ended the show that night, with a very beautiful light effect with the participation of the fans who wore a necklace with a light that the production turned on and shut down synchronously, with everything around dark.

Oh ya the girls have clicktracks. An argument could be made that the creative use of a clicktrack is the real secret of BABYMETAL's sucess. The whole performance, the lights, the choreo, the kami, the video displays, and the vocals are all perfectly sync'ed, every single show. I've seen a video with 5 different performances of Megitsune layered over top of each other and they all merge so perfectly that it sounds like a single audio track aside from the part where Su speaks to the audience.

It's hilarious how you just have to sit back and admit that the entire act - the musicians and the young ladies - are da bomb. Because believe me I am so NOT into prog rock/metal but I would pay $300 for the guarantee that Babymetal performs TOTD in their set list. That is how dumbfounded I am of this group's talents.
BTW, I am also really glad that you understood how difficult it must have been to sing and dance to a song which switches time signatures every 3s.. some musician reactors tend to gloss it over as if anybody can just do it.. mostly to dismiss the contribution of the girls in making TOTD the masterpiece that it is.

This is some prog metal stuff they did just mostly to show they can do it...but they don't do this in concerts because its basically chaos in a can, so yeah, only did this like once early on. This song actually gets a lot of flak because it lures in prog rock/metal fans thinking they do a lot, but really this is their only one (most complex anyhow. An argument can be made for Yava).
Hmm...300 for a concert. Well, tough choice. Obviously don't dip into the rent money or whatever, but its worth missing a couple weekends of going out. Its 100 here in Florida. I've seen them in a smaller venue and...well, it sucked. Not the band, just I seen them in 2018 when Yui was simply absent (before officially quitting) and so it was...like...disappointing to not see the trio...and I hated the headgear they made Moa and Su wear (luckily that only lasted for that tour)...but the band itself...the entertainment value was awesome, Just sucked that Yui was in Waldo mode at the moment.
Best part (outside of a ton of great songs) was the local after-parties in local bars where fans went (and some roadies from the band).

That's sad to hear tickets are that expensive, prices vary widely depending on where you go, the cheapest (most places) on this tour are in the range of 45 to 55.
Yes, they have click tracks, but a lot of the time, the click track just signals when to start the song. When Su-metal was 16 she performed Rondo Of Nightmare which had more than just that, it also had strange time signatures. So my guess is maybe they would do it here when the time signature changes happen.
They trained it possibly for over multiple months, this concert was also performed after a month of no touring. And this song was never performed again.

That was great! Not one of my favourite BM songs, but I have huge respect for the talent and hard work that went into it. They only played it live once, and I can imagine why.
And yes, this was Mikio (RIP little god of the guitar) and this is one of the rare occasions where he didn’t smile all the time because he was so focused.
All the girls and the band are using click-tracks to keep everything on time. There are some rare recordings of Su’s and Moa and Yuis IEMs that exist but I haven’t heard any of the band members just yet. What is surprising to me tho, is how you come up with a choreography to such a crazy song?
Next you should check out “The One” which came directly after this at that show and was originally one song but they decided to split it into two.
