Thanks for the shout out! The new mill looks great.
Thanks Mick. ;)
I know some people have criticisms for the round column RF series mills, but I would still have mine if I had room in my old shop for both it and my new-to-me one I have now. You've also added some cool stuff mine didn't have, should be fun to run.
It runs like a charm. I’m glad I bought it.
Looks just like my Grizzly G1006/G1007. Adding a DRO to the Quill was very simple just by removing that scale cover and simple brackets and you're good to go there.
Wow after watching this video I will be going back video checking out all the things u did to your mill I have a mill like your I need to fix it
Thank you. Let me know if there’s anything I can help you with. Gilles
New machine day!
Best day EVER :)
I know the guy that signed the inspection certificate..Dong Wang..
:D
Hey Gille, I have that same tilting wise. Have you done any mods or truing on it. That would make for a great video. Cheers!
I haven’t yet, but I intend to. I’ve added it to my project list 😉
Now that you have had it for a bit, are you still happy with it? Just picked one up and would like to add CNC ability also but am seeing a lot of people suggest the other style is superior even though not as powerful.
Chris this is my second Rf30 and it does everything I need with a small footprint in my shop. I love it. I haven’t seen one converted to CNC so I really don’t know how it would perform and for now anyway, I really like manual machining so that suits me. I do have a small cnc machine but to be honest I really dread the software aspect of it. Pain in the rear end.
@@LetsRogerThat Thank you! I was just spoiled for my birthday and was given one. Can't wait to set it up and start down the path. First Mill for mem lots to learn...
I’m a hobbyist and I like to build my own stuff. I was in the process to buy a milling machine for my workshop. After scrolling for many days, the Internet for machine that are available for me in Quebec. I finally decide to order PDM 30 from Ken Canada. After seeing your video about some issues on this machine, I plan to look into it soon I receive my machine. No I will be in a process to purchase a good vice, R8 to ER32 collet chuck and other tool. Do you have any recommendation? And by the way, nice video nice work.
Tks doc that’s very kind. I’m gonna gather the info for you tomorrow and will update you then. Once you check and resolve a few things you will love this machine. I also started an online store that includes machine equipment and tool storage if you want to check it out. Rogertoolscanada.com
Hi Doc, here's the link for the vise I got. Its a Te-Co. Excellent vise made in Taiwan which is on par with Kurt vises. catalog.te-co.com/item/single-station-vises/4-single-station-vise/pws-4600-1
I haven't purchased an er-32 chuck because I intend to make one (its partially done). For now I use imperial R8 collets. I do have a full set of ER32 and ER11 collets. When I need to mill some small metric sizes I insert the ER11 collet into one of my R8 imperial collets and it works great. Hope that helps. Stay in touch and thanks for watching. Gilles
@@LetsRogerThat Strangely, I was watching your video and pose on the name of the vise that your using and at the same time doing a search on the web on the TE-CO website :)
@@LetsRogerThat I also wondering about those collet chuck kit. What is the size of the draw bar on the PD-30
haha that's awesome. The whole idea of making my channel was to help others. Glad its helping. Bonne journee :)@@docteurdre8450
And the King Website doesn't list a price... This isn't one of those "If you have to ask, you can't afford it" things, is it?
Not at all. King doesn’t sell directly. The price at all their distributors is $2700 . Had it running today. I’m quite pleased
@@LetsRogerThat Doh! Oh, ya, I forgot... I had to find the parts for my bandsaw, on the website, and have the local dealer order them...
