The thing I love about your makeovers is that you don’t add too much stuff. You make fairly simple changes and make a few things pop. I’m learning. But I still have too much clutter 😬
I love the ideas but I feel like there is a missed opportunity for effective DIY projects/thrifting to actually make these makeovers budget friendly. I would love to see more college/early twenties friendly budgets!! Maybe we could see a makeover based on only thrift store purchases?? I think Alexandra's take on that would be awesome!
I think she had a friend with a bigger budget this time and just wanted to add it to her videos. Typically they aren’t this expensive. Her other office Reno of her friends podcast office was way more budget friendly. Only 3-4 hundred dollars I think.
Love the planters, accent wall and printer solution. But, another rug that basically blends in with the floor? Also, it would be helpful if you included exactly what the budget is for these projects.
This was one of your more elegant makeovers. Love that there's an element that runs throughout (gold) and the non-cluttered yet practical solutions. Where there is some clutter, it is neatly and stylishly corralled in a bookcase.
I feel like it looks unfinished, like theres still so much white...but yeah definitely you guys should say what the budget is. The whiteboard can be DIYed with a big frame, spray painted gold, and the calendars can be printed or written out. I understand some things has to be splurged (chairs, tables, etc) but smaller items can definitely be DIYed or thrifted.
abbieseeyou it would’ve looked so much better if she made the accent wall the one where the bookshelf is! It would’ve helped to give it that finished look
I wondered about where she's going to keep her pens and eraser for the whiteboard. Perhaps another of those hanging plant holders? Or a vintage pocket vase to add a bit of quirky character?
@abbie I agree and actually I have since kinda hacked my way to getting a version of that whiteboard by getting a simple frame from the thrift store, spray painting it gold, and printed out the calendar at the printshop and put it in and it actually works and I got it for a total 8 quid
I like the way this turned out, very cute!!! but just wanted to add my two cents. I feel that because your client was a life coach and inspires people, maybe a few inspirational quotes in gold frames could have been incorporated in the design ... I was thinking a couple pieces could have been used along the side of that abstract art piece on the blue wall and also 2 or 3 more could have been included on the wall with the succulents in the white vases. This would both inspire her as she works and also for her guests that come in to her space. Oh and one more thing.... I would have gathered those cords behind that cute little stand and enclosed them in a cord concealer that attaches to the wall (sold on Amazon). They come in white and when attached to the wall it makes the cords totally disappear. Besides that, great job! ... I am enjoying watching your videos. I am definitely NOT criticizing your work ... I think you are very talented and I know how much effort it takes to produce a quality video like this.
I been watching u since ir Chatelaine days and i love everything u do. I'm justo so sick of all the hate u recieve. Such a lovelly lady, be nice to her!
Love the chairs. Worth the money. However, €110 for a whiteboard? Bet you could have got a cheap frame and sprayed it gold for a lot less. Beautiful space.
I was thinking the same thing! Like the round side table that the printer was on should go in between the chairs. Also the art peice on the accent wall is a bit small. Larger artwork would look more lux. Overall though great changes to the room! :)
Well they have to sit and talk in front of each other so I guess a table or something would stop the flow of the conversation and the connection between life coach and client/patient
I downsized a couple of years ago, and love to see the way you utilize all the small spaces you encounter in your friends' homes-----very real world! And your friends---what a fabulous group you hang with!! They are so sweet to share the new spaces you bestow on them. Love your show!
Loved this makeover. I loved the lights, the curtains, and those chairs. The place looks transformed! And I had the biggest smile on my face after Jenny’s reactions. She seems like such a warm person. Well done, Alexandra!
Definitely missing things.... it’s pretty but the artwork is so small as are the planter things. They are lost on the wall. Need a table between the chairs and some items to bring things together.
@@PWingert1966 I was thinking the same thing- a really big abstract painting with colors on that dark blue wall would have really been dynamic/warming.
I enjoy your makeovers. This is the first I have been inspired to comment. I would put everything on the walls lower. General full is eye level but in a room that is a room one sits probably 99% of the time. Eye level is even lower. The art and exit gives more punch for the viewers, who are sitting. You have the walls even higher then eye level when standing. Just lower would ha e made this pop! Pop pop over the top! The design and desk move was a must and you nailed that. Keep up the excellent videos.
I like this, but my experience in my own office is that if you put anything in an opaque box you MUST put a label on the outside or it slows down workflow so much you end up with piles of paper on your shelves again within a week. I really like some cute removable metal labels you can just hook on the edge of the decorative boxes that you can write on with a wet erase marker I saw at Target... I'll try to find a link for that and reply below this. PS: I've found great buys like those chairs at HomeGoods... if there is time and you are patient you can usually find something awesome. PS: I love the printer stand idea.
Oh, also, you can get rid of the cords looking messy off the back of the printer shelf easy with a cord management sticker or a clip super easy... I've even used some of those Command clips for that.
I love this makeover, great job. I just feel that instead of spending $110 on the white board, you should of invested in a better more comfortable desk chair. She most likely sits at her desks for several hours, would be nice to have a comfortable chair. This would of been more practical than an expensive white board.
What a great makeover, I love the colors and how you tied them all together. The stand that you used for the printer is great, which you put her phone and tamed all the cables. Also like that you put the printer next to the bookcase and moved the desk around. The curtains, the chairs and the ceiling lights are just so perfect together. Jenny will love her new office.
I don't mind it too, but honestly the title IS misleading. She should've titled it "Beautiful Home Office Makeover (without the on a budget part)" if she's gonna spend that much money. Not hating, I love her works and the things she picked out too.
I guess when I see makeovers, “designers” are using thousand dollar items and redoing ceilings, knocking out walls, etc. She just changed out some very basic things and added a rug and some chairs. If it’s under $500 to a $1,000 it’s definitely a “budget” makeover.
Oh! Thank G-d for the bourgeoisie! Usually interior designers DO do that. But Alexandra is definitely an interior decorator, adding different elements to the room rather than doing renos
It always seems to me she wastes money on the practical items ($60 curtain rod) that she could be spending on the decorative items! Her spending seems out of balance to me.
I think she has a very good balance in her spending. If everything was Ikea, why use her? She finds unique items and made sure to buy chairs that will hold up for years. I have learned a lot from her videos and I am an empty nester!
The whiteboard is expensive but a good idea anyways cuz is really easy to DIY. You buy a cheap whiteboard and sticky letters, tape, gold paint for the frame, done!
I really like it, I meant I got that people said it was tooooo expensive and all the comments, but the point is “get inspired and look for things that work with your budget “ I really like to get inspired by your videos 💕
the planters are great. If there is not enough light for the cacti, philodendron will thrive there. Low light ferns are great too. the chairs are excellent and a great value. They elevate the space and are worth every cent. thank you :)
The desk repositioning idea is definitely something I need to look into for my own space. Never would have thought of it! Thanks for another great video Alexandra :)
I love love love this office! I don’t know why everyone is complaining about the expense.. every client has different budgets.. and this one totaled just over $1,000 (Canadian). I think it’s worth it, for a women who works from home and has clients in and out all of the time... presenting clients with a cohesive design is very important.. and comfortable pretty chairs, too... I would have switched the art and the plants - the gold planters on the navy blue wall would have popped! (I would have added 2 or 3 more).... and that way Jenny could look at the art as she sat at the desk.... I would gradually add more art over time if you left the art on the navy wall.. the one piece of art is too small....
In my study office I struggle with storage no surprises there but systems with having multiple businesses with the receipts and bills invoices and how to manage and collate easily on a day to day basis so that it is looks tidy 😉 but is practical so that all the relevant paper work is easy to process when I manage to get time to attend to it !,,, We are based in nz and watch all of your videos excited to see the kitchen make over xxxx keep well, safe and happy 🥰❤️💋😍
The light is gorgeous. The accent wall looks great. I love the placement of the desk..... who wants to look at a wall....the chairs are such great conversation pieces...they look comfy. I’m going to use your wire hanging shelf....looks great and organizes bills and general paperwork.
loved the makeover :) would love a bookshelf styling video - also if you could do a table setting/hosting video on how you make your home cozy when you are having guests over etc
Yes Alexandra, please make a video for books shelves with never ending books. Or a cheep DIY on how to arrange them without them taking up a whole wall. Or an ikea hack. I live under a mountain of books with me and my husband but can't seem to find a cute way of arranging them. Love your videos girl!
Good printer solution! Maybe some storage boxes to hide the cords. I think some big plants would add a lot. A table between the chairs? Like the navy and gold combo! And great ceiling fixture.
I love the design and the simple clean lines and patterns. Some comments suggest adding more items. My personal preference (because we don't want clients to see our schedules) is to change the calendar/white board for a pretty art piece or keep it white! Why must we fill every space?? I definitely find 'busy' walls to be stressful. I agree with some of the other comments that a table between the chairs would be practical -- just a tiny one that could hold a glass of water and box of tissue, which I imagine would be needed.
I love the way you transform spaces. Getting lots of inspiration from your videos! I especially appreciate your courage/creativity in dealing with lighting and hacks for rental spaces.
I LOOOOOVE this video! Half way through it and I had to stop to comment: I’m doing some research to vamp up my bedroom office and this is so similar to what I have going on in my room. So happy I found your channel! Thanks for the table off the wall tip 😅
Sooo Cute! I would recommend switching the whiteboard with the art print, though. Puts the calendar next to her work space and better for viewing/accessability (white on dark wall too! Is gonna POP!) and then color print on the white wall willstand out better. Just a better balance and more functional. Aside, it is all fantastic!!
Alexandra, I love your videos. I love your creativity. And I also love your courage for just putting yourself and your ideas out there. Keep 'em coming!
YES PLEASE! Bookshelf video!! I have so many notebooks from college and books as well (that are all like A4 size) and never know how to organize them in a way that is stylish and practical at the same time. If you can do it would be awesome!
You could put some notebooks if they don’t get used frequently in a cute box. You could also cover the notebooks with a “dust jacket” you make out of wrapping/scrapbook paper
I’ve watched a lot of your videos, and there are some aspects of your videos that are budget friendly and then there are some aspects that are not budget friendly. Instead of saying here’s a budget friendly video try telling everyone what the person‘s budget is and working within that budget because this video in particular did not seem budget friendly. The whiteboard frame that you purchased for $110 you could’ve gotten from Michaels for 60 bucks using a 40% coupon you would’ve saved a ton of money. I work at the American version of home sense in those chairs was not a deal. Love your videos but please be more clear on what’s budget friendly. I know that you’re in Canada and I know that the prices are different in America but when trying to get some inspiration from your videos it’s hard to do so if what you say is budget friendly is actually not budget friendly . I get buying good quality pieces for your home and I think you did a great job at that but once again getting a quality pieces does not always equate to being budget friendly, have a nice day
This is the only video of hers I’ve seen that she didn’t mention the budget of her clients. This one is probably one of her most expensive because it’s technically a commercial space. But she really does do a good job at keeping things budget friendly. You should watch her kitchen remodel of her friends place or some of her bedroom remodels.
I love the combination of navy blue and gold! It turned out amazing, however I do agree that that for most people including me that's expensive. However when it's a space where you see customers, it makes sense to splurge. And that super expensive white board is so tempting!
Beautifully done. My first thought when I saw the room was move the desk with it's back to the bookshelf. I have a feeling she'll want her more comfy office chair on wheels back behind her desk though. It'll be easier to turn to get things off the shelves or from the printer.
Every project has a different budget, but I would definitely try your best to define your channel better! I see a lot of comments about being early 20s/college aged budgets which are pretty minimal. If that isn’t the direction your content is going - then just be clear about what is! I’m about to graduate college and I appreciate how working with a variety of budgets can give people more ideas, so I definitely don’t have a problem with any of your choices because I just love design and know I’ll be looking to buy staple pieces for myself soon!
Probably three fold, 1. shopping in Canada, 2. time constraint of how fast she has to do the make over, and 3. where she can store stuff she likes but can't immediately use for some potential future random client.
@Kira It really depends on your income. If you're living on US minimum wage everything seems expensive. If you're a college graduate interning at Amazon you're making $90k US, then it is inexpensive.
I actually loved this! The “budget” debate is interesting. This is a similar budget/stage of life that I’m in so I appreciate this content! Maybe just need a different title. More like this please!
I also would have liked to see some rug layering in the client space to make it seem like it’s more cohesive. Being on the end of a rug- perfect opportunity to layer a smaller round or white fluffy rug under those two chairs! A small end table between them (even spray painting the table the printer used to be on) would allow space for drinks to be set down, maybe some magazines.. and maybe some hooks on the back of the door so clients can hang a bag or coat still nearby and not all the way at the home entrance! I sometimes get anxious when my stuff is out of sight so it would be a comfort to clients visiting Jenny’s office.
Yes please I'm the bookshelf video! And pretty please make it a BOOK-HEAVY BOOKSHELF, not just a book shelf with 5 books and a ton of decor 💕💕💕 A book-lover's book shelf!
I actually enjoyed this makeover, as you were using elements that were already a part of the room. As for budgets, I agree, it is sometimes better to invest in a few good pieces that will have a longer life and add value to your space. Usually these items are tax deductable for an office space. I am renovating in March and would love to see some ideas on bookshelf styling and storage. Maybe you can find solutions to double parked books?
I recently found your channel and am going to sleep way too late because I am watching your videos every evening. I haven’t yet found a video where you do a makeover with a standing desk but curious if you have any recommendations on one or how to create a budget friendly stand-sit desk? Thanks!
I really wish we put an end table in between the two chairs as that would’ve made that little area more defined and I wish that the print was maybe blown up 1-2 sizes larger to really make that wall pop. Also if you have a special room such as an office for your business in an apartment or house it’s actually really nice to paint the door a statement or accent color On either the interior side of the door or the exterior side of the door and changing out the knob is super easy to do as well. Just an idea
I love the new office and how everything turned out! The only thing I would be missing is some kind of side table for the chairs to put a glass of water or anything really, nothing big, just something that ties ist together ;) for the clients
I love what you do. You are creative and stylish and so accommodating to each client’s personal style and need.😊 My question is how do you know which wall to make a feature or accent wall? Thanks!
The thing I love about your makeovers is that you don’t add too much stuff. You make fairly simple changes and make a few things pop. I’m learning. But I still have too much clutter 😬

Kimberly Dickinson, I agree! No place to set coffee or water!
The white board needs to be on the blue wall and the artwork on the white wall and a small table between the chairs. A place to set a drink.

Budget aside..... That office looks amazing!!! Not too cluttered and very functional! Great makeover.
I love the combination of navy blue and gold! It turned out amazing, however I do agree that that for most people including me that's expensive. However when it's a space where you see customers, it makes sense to splurge. And that super expensive white board is so tempting!
I absolutely love this office! I have watched this multiple times!!!
Beautifully done. My first thought when I saw the room was move the desk with it's back to the bookshelf.
I have a feeling she'll want her more comfy office chair on wheels back behind her desk though. It'll be easier to turn to get things off the shelves or from the printer.
Love it. Another great job Alexandra!
yes to book shelf styling!! looks great!
living for the gold curtain rod!!
I loved the fact that her glasses also matched her office! 😍
Bookshelf video!!! YESSS
This was really stunning! I loved it!
I love your ideas but your budget /bargins are so expensive?
Exactly! Very expensive pieces of furniture
@Kira If you shpped at homesense you could probably reduced costs by a couple of hundred but may not have been able to achieve your look.
Joy Walsh Obviously, the owner had no issue with the amount that was spent. Alexandra just failed to mention it.
Everything ties in including the horse art work in her hall. Love it!
I love the accent chairs!
I love you for your ideas and DIY that u do Alexandra
Navy blue is my fav but dark colors make wall imperfections more noticeable.
Yes shelf styling vid is such a good idea!!
Really nice clean space. And the little girl is so gorgeous! She should consider modeling.
I actually loved this! The “budget” debate is interesting. This is a similar budget/stage of life that I’m in so I appreciate this content! Maybe just need a different title. More like this please!
Love how you pull everything together! The chairs are beautiful! The printer table is such a great idea!! It's a beautiful office !🤗
Love the new light fixture!! Amazing!
jennys outfit totally matched the room. love that!
This is her business. I get investing in comfortable, stylish quality chairs.
Yes please I'm the bookshelf video! And pretty please make it a BOOK-HEAVY BOOKSHELF, not just a book shelf with 5 books and a ton of decor 💕💕💕 A book-lover's book shelf!
I vote yes for styling bookshelf video!!
Loving the chairs and accent wall.
WOW that printer stand is amazing. It looks so sleek!
Love the light!!
This was beautiful! Good job, keep up the good work!
I love the new office and how everything turned out! The only thing I would be missing is some kind of side table for the chairs to put a glass of water or anything really, nothing big, just something that ties ist together ;) for the clients
Yes cute ... fancy she says . Adorable great job !
I love what you do. You are creative and stylish and so accommodating to each client’s personal style and need.😊 My question is how do you know which wall to make a feature or accent wall? Thanks!
Stunning beautiful gorgeous! No words.
