The Sword of Kaigen is such a beautiful book, such a great read. I think people should definitely read it. It is an emotional book but everything about it is worth reading.
Ooo I think we may have similar reading styles which makes me so happy! I loved Ninth House & When the Moon Hatched! I am a big Outlander girlie so one of my top picks that I read this year was Go Tell the Bees that I’m Gone by Diana Gabaldon. Definitely taking note of some of these picks to add to my TBR
I’ve only finished 23 books so far this year 😅 but a few favorites were: Funny Story- Emily Henry Parable of the Sower- Octavia Butler A Court of Mist and Fury- Sara J Maas The Only One Left- Riley Sager Happy Place- Emily Henry
I've read 31 books for review this year, and a few just for fun but of those, I have no record. "A curtain twitcher's book of murder" by Gay Marris probably is my favourite still even though I read it a while ago, in February. It's not a fantasy, but a collection of murder mystery stories, and I enjoyed every second of it. Great writing and really cool twists, morbid and exciting. It was honestly surprising to me because I do prefer middle grade fiction, and books for smaller kids as well, but this was a full on adult book and it delivered for me :)
I have a confession (book club is gonna kill me 😂), i dnf’d will of the many about 40% in. I felt like i’m not in my fantasy era rn, esp high epic fantasy. The world building was hard for me to read bc i don’t like when things are explained slowly, and i get frustrated. I also found the mc kinda boring idk… 😅 not sure now if i’ll like brando sando if i didn’t like this 😢
Off the top of my head : My top five stars include The Count of Monte Cristo, Ninth House (I read 5 of her works this year and she can do no wrong by me), Maame, and Hamnet (I cried so much).
YAYYY! If you want more sci-fi villains, vicious is a great place to start! For a standalone, Addie Larue and for more traditional fantasy, a darker shade of magic :)
My Top 24 in no particular order: - King of Greed - You, With a View - From Lukov with Love - Queen of Shadows - King of Sloth - Out On a Limb - A Court of Wings and Ruin - A Court Of Mist and Fury - Empire of Storms - Check & Mate - Kingdom of Ash - Lights Out - Terms and Conditions - Just for the Summer - The Seven Year Slip - Reckless - King of Pride - Malibu Rising - A Thousand Boy Kisses - Priest - Divine Rivals - Yours Truly - Nothing Like the Movies - Heir of Fire
