When we had our first 4K TV back in 2018, I didn't care for what it didn't have. After all, you get what you pay for, and I hardly paid anything for it. So long as it was big and 4K, it should be good enough, or so I thought. Its 6-year run in our house was appreciable. However, it was not without frustrations. Because of its buggy and outdated internals, for videos on Netflix to show up, and for it to reconnect to the internet, it had to be restarted again after being turned on. Some apps don't load videos at all. Navigation freezes randomly. It had HDR Mode for HDR content, but its max brightness (250 nits) was nowhere near capable of showing HDR properly. What's worse, there was no option to stop it from switching to HDR Mode. Finally, when we've had enough of these, uhm, inconveniences, we got ourselves an Apple TV, as redundant as it was for Smart TVs. Sure enough, it remedied those problems we had with our 6-year-old panel, but alas, it opened our eyes (and ears) to what it sorely lacked. Indeed, there were other things we could've also achieved now with our media but can't because our first 4K TV was not just capable of them. And so it was decided to get a new one. It's easier to be discerning the second time around. One knows what one already wants by what wasn't there in the previous one. In this case, it should have enough up-to-date I/O ports that provide the modern conveniences of HDMI; reliable internals to run the TV's operating system smoothly; and finally, an actual capable HDR screen. Technically, we can fit an even larger TV in our living room, but 55 inches is the most proportional size to everything else around. In choosing the TCL C755, we allowed ourselves to be reasonably aspirational. There comes a point where it actually becomes wasteful to be stingy in choosing things. If one is gonna spend a considerable amount at all, one might as well go for the good stuff, and the C755 has got the goods indeed. Friends, the hype for Mini LED is real. Blacks are black, albeit with expected blooming. Whites are blindingly bright if you allow it to go that far. Colors are more vibrant, I guess due to the Quantum Dots. And capable of running at 144 Hz, this HDR screen delivers and punches above its weight. To say that QD-Mini LED is just one of the good novel features of this TV would be a gross understatement. It's practically the thing that makes the price worth it and initially unbelievable. The purchase would be worthless, however, if it didn't have the needed ports and internals. At last, a responsive UI! It may not matter as much since we use Apple TV, but I still have to interact with the TV's OS when navigating through the settings, and boy do you need to tinker with the settings to make the most out of your TV (Pro Tip: Turn OFF motion smoothing)! Last but not least are the HDMI ports. Yes, yes, two of the four are HDMI 2.1, but the big deal here for me is that they are all, finally, CIC-capable. Now, we just have to use the Apple TV Remote to turn on/off the TV and control its volume regardless if we're on a different input (say while playing PS5). My Mama doesn't have to be confused with which remote to use haha. Also, the fourth HDMI port has ARC/eARC for one's external sound system, but that's a topic for another video. If I have one gripe with this TV, it would be its back panel. The plastic material used feels thin and flimsy. Just the slightest pressure on it is enough to flex it. The neck of the included stand could also be sturdier (thankfully, there's metal reinforcement inside). But I guess the company had to cut corners somewhere and decided to cheap out on the side we will hardly ever see. In sum, TCL C755 is the premium TV for the rest of us. I hope that from here on out, the industry will prioritize making MiniLED panels. It's 90% of the benefit of OLED without the risk of early burn-in. Things should only get better moving forward, but the C755 is one great way to start it.

I was going for the new Hisens E7NQ PRO but realized that for the same price I cant get mini-led tech with this one. Are you satisfied with the brightness in gaming? Any problems so far?
Got one similar in 75 inch from TCL. Super careful with it. Opened the box and it was busted all the around the entire screen. Every other 70-75 screen we get is broken. :(

I just watched D&D: Honour Among Thieves on a 55" C755, the image is so clear and bright even without HDR or UHD it's a little off putting. Gaming with a PS5 using RGB colour and VRR playing Horizon: Forbidden West is a game changer. Now I'm glad my elcheapo Qled crapped itself prematurely!
6 Advertisment Buttons on a TV remote is crazy. Why cant they just sell a simple TV. No smart functionally, no advertisment Buttons, just a clean tv with a clean remote. Im using an Apple TV and a Switch anyway. There is no need for smart functionallity that is slow asf anyway. And then those ugly buttons. I dont need a button for youtube beacause i rarely use it on tv, even less do i need disney + and netflix becuase i cancelled them sicne they so expensive and all the others i didnt even hear about before...
