    Wuyi Yan Cha has become one of my fav kind/class of dark Oolong teas! Early on (when I first started tasting teas) it didn't really appeal to my tastes much, but Now after years of various tea-tastings, my palette has evolved... When you drink really well-made, highest quality Yan Chas, it truly can be an unmistakably delicious, deeply complex tea! I highly recommend every tea-lover explore these, if the opportunity arises! Thanks

      There may be a tea that doesn't fit your preferences but I have tried quite a number of his and I can confirm that I was satisfied by the overwhelming majority. Plus if you drink a tea while watching him and saying what he can get out of it you will find the notes which helps you learn quicker. I still get what you meant though

    Don is using the word Petrichor slightly wrong here, he got it the wrong way round. It is does actually mostly refer to the smell of soil and not rock (even if 'petr' comes from the greek word for rock, strange naming decision). The smell is a combination of oils that plants secrete out into the earth from their rots and by-products from bacteria that live in the soil. When it rains the air in the soil is displaced by the water and the air is pushed up and out of the ground. The aerosols then get dispersed in the open where we can smell them. It is especially noticeable at first rainfall after a period of dry weather. It smells different from the wet asphalt smell you often get in cities. Suburbs can have some of it, but it is not a full hit like you will experience it if you are out in woodland.

    Hi, Thanks for all your videos and your passion ! I've been following it for nearly two years, for the teas, the chinese culture and to learn english, and still loves it as much as the first day !
    I'm drinking lots of different teas, but I encounter a problem, which I believe you've never lingered upon : I live in an area where water is very rich in calcium carbonate (french jura), that seems to interact very badly with teas. But I'd like to avoid bying lots of plastic bottles or disposable filters so... What are in your oppinion the best means of softening the water to make it suitable for tea ? What are chinese living in Ca-rich regions doing ? Boiling it makes part of Ca precipitate... Storing it ? any other ideas ?
    Keep up with the quality of your videos !

    • @reubenk1615
      @reubenk1615 3 года назад

      In Israel we have very hard water.
      Within just a few boils the calcium shows, at my parents house it gets ridiculously thick much faster.
      I just use a Brita jug filter. It gets rid of all the calcium buildup.
      Ofcourse it's an expense but so much cheaper than hauling bottled water which also had calcium in it.
      Haven't found a better solution, if you do please let me know.

      @@mowgli__383 I change the filter every two months as opposed to the recommendation, flow may decrease but it doesn't bother me.

      Hi. There should not be any customs charges due to the free trade deal. We do not charge any sales tax anymore to EU clients but you may be charged the German sales tax on the goods depending if they choose to stop the parcel. From my recollection this is about 7% on tea and your usual sales rate on teaware.

    A bit of a random question here but any tea recommendations to fight panic attacks? I used to drink between one or two liters of tea before going to bed (I don't recommend it) in combination of me being in a stressful time in my life, which caused me to have panic attacks and not being able to sleep for hours. I am now looking for replacement teas or tisanes, something to actually calm me down.

This channel is about tea in its unadulterated form. I personally like it that way, and would stop watching if that changed.
      I also have to disagree with you that on kind of tea has just one taste. One manufacturers Earl Grey blend, Tieguanyin or as Don talkes about here, Wuyi Yan Cha, can taste different from the next manufacturers version of the same type. Often I find it is the milk teas that taste the same because they are so ladened with milk and sugar that they tast of nothing else, the tea itself is totally overpowered.
