the actual beat has more to it. Like the reverse piano in the background during verses. during the second half of the verse where he starts singing there is also the addition of a weird reverse guitar sound in the background that begins. There's also a tambourine that hits the same time/before the open hat while the open hat extends a bit longer to add more bounce.. These additional elements that you don't pick up on are what take the song from an okay simple beat, to the actual "hit" that it is.
Keeping in mind that the actual beat for rockstar is by some random college kid who just so happened to be in the studio building where post was.

What DAW are you using? i've been trying to get my S61 working with Pro Tools but the screens dont syn up like that only the keyboard part works.

So do you recommend the KOMPLETE S49 and if so do you still use drum pads because I see that it doesn’t come with any unlike the Akai. What’s ur opinion on that?
Note that you'll still have to mix and master, EQ the tracks. It's not as easy as just playing and coming out with a perfectly compressed beat.
