Funny how none of them say what exactly they are making per week

I read somewhere they make about 2k a week before taxes. Not great not horrible. I think you have to "add value" to the change in lifestyle we're used to: not fighting to park, maintenance, eating like crap, driving with the same drivers all the time, etc.

They get a flat daily rate of around $300-350 a day for salary. They get a per diem daily, they get free catering, showers and restrooms at venue. They get hotel buyouts (about 200 to 250 a night) for sleeping in truck. All trucks have apu and surius subscriptions and all the other benefits for being on tour. Downside your gone 6 8 10 months out of the year. Good place to work. I did 3 team gigs over the years. Your not paid mileage on anything. Driving or not. Hope that helps. If you have a family no Bueno, if you don't mind traveling us and Canada pretty cool gig.

@@jasonwright4683 what about during slow season, aka when no concerts or events are happening, do they still get paid?

Yea you run general freight loads in the off season i believe. They tell you all that in orientation @AJ-Hunt

Their website says $2,300 a week salary plus per diem and buy outs. Paid biweekly. You run general freight in the off season or take off until touring starts. Your choice.

Maybe things have changed, I've been off the road for over two decades as part of the production staff. I've done small club tours to theaters, arenas and stadium tours and worked closely with the drivers as part of my job. I hear Walmart and UPS drivers make well over 100K today but I doubt the majority of these Rock N Roll drivers make that much, assuming you are not an owner/operator. But the amount of pay depends on the tour itinerary itself and whether you have enough seniority to become a lead driver (in charge of multiple trucks). There are small tours where it's one semi and arena tours that may have up to a dozen or more. A stadium tour could have several dozens and up to a hundred.trucks. In other words, there a good tours and bad tours which pretty much goes for every position in the touring industry. There is a base salary which I heard is not that great in my opinion, but again I was not a driver. There are hotel buyouts, meaning cash in your pocket if you elect to sleep in your truck vs getting a hotel along with the crew. A lot of days off means a lot of extra cash. Aerosmith was known for never performing two nights in a row so there was a day off after every show. So lots of hotel buyouts there. There are bonuses for driving certain distances overnight, or days, which are called overdrives. usually 450 plus or even double overdrives. Again, based on the routing of the tour. Salt Lake City overnight to Denver was usually an overdrive, maybe around $300 today, back when I was touring it was around $200. Some artist will do 5-6 shows a week which could include overdrives, On show days, you get fed breakfast, lunch and dinner because there is catering for the production staff and local crew so you save money there. You also receive a lot of free swag if it's a decent tour. Depending on the artist, you may receive a bonus. You might even get free tickets to invite friends and family to the shows, again every tour and artist is different. The negative is you will have down time between tours, which means no pay. Which is often the case for everyone in the touring industry. Slow season is winter. Busy time is summer, as everyone is touring and there aren't enough drivers. Bottom line is the pay is not consistent because each artist and tour itinerary is not the same. But there is a lot of opportunity to make extra cash depending on the tour. But being a Rock N Roll Driver is not for everyone. But for those who are thinking, you better know how to back up!
