Aloha Roni, it's been a minute, but am very happy you have discovered Larkin Poe. I've been a fan for a few years. This song, MAWBM is definitely a fav! First time I heard this song I said, If Janis Joplin was still with us today, she would do a cover of MAWBM! Love and Aloha!
❤I love You
As always, they rocked it, I love that band since several years, and each time they get me. And I love that you are in a "fun" mood (I like you when you're low too, but, that smile makes the day brighter, I have to say)

Like I said, I've been a Larkin Poe fan for a while, and lately I've become a The Warning supporter as well! These 5 women have a similar upbringing: Their parents are not musicians, but started their daughters in classical piano lessons...in the case of Larkin Poe they had violin lessons as well. There are 3 Lovell sisters actually, and they all became very proficient with their classical instruments, same as the Villarreals. Then the Lovell sisters took a sharp right turn when they were exposed to bluegrass music. The Villarreals changed direction when they discovered the Rock Band video game. Each trio dove head first into their chosen genre, with passion and dedication, developing such artistry. The Lovell Sisters cut 2 albums and toured in the US and the EU/UK. During all of their collective childhoods, their parents exposed them to all sorts of rock music. In 2010, the eldest Lovell sister quit the band, and Larkin Poe was born, diving into blues rock. The Villarreals went viral online when they began uploading rock covers to share with their grandparents. Fast forward, 4 EPs, 7 albums and 1 Grammy, Larkin Poe remains an independent band with their own record label. The Warning have 1 EP and 4 albums, and have signed with LAVA/Republic Records. Both bands have been touring the EU and UK this summer, and playing many festivals. Lastly, throughout their careers, these women have remained down to earth, humble, dedicated and passionate to their craft! Rock is burning bright in these 2 beloved bands!! #LarkinPoe #APDVillaReality
Discovered Larkin Poe in 2019, The Warning in 2021 and they are my two favorite bands. Like you said their origin stories are remarkably similar and my dream would be to see them performing together, though the world would probably implode from all the sisterly talent onstage. Had a meet and greet with the Lovell and Villareal sisters and they are indeed some of the nicest, hard working and appreciative artists in the industry!
@@Incognito-8884 - Did you see they did perform at the same Festival last month? But LP was like 2 days before TW, so it was like ships passing in the night. One day! Fingers crossed!!
@@genboyer At least we have the Bandmaid and Warning collab coming out next week. Fingers crossed we ever get to see something like that with 5 sisters!
Didn't know they were performing at the same festival untill the videos started popping up. Doubt I could have made it there anyway as I'm saving up for my second attempt to go see The Warning in Mexico early next year!
🔥I love jam'n the van.
💜🤘🎸
Beastly tone on that slide guitar!
RIGHT?!?!?!?
Great reaction! They are so good!!
Thank you! And yes they are!!!!!
The first time I saw Larkin Poe live, this was the setup. Rebecca and Megan with just their guitars and the bass drum, in a small space with about 40 people. I first discovered them about the same time that this video came out, though it was from their tribute to Tom Petty when he passed away. They covered Tom's song "Wildflowers", and it is a very meaningful and beautiful version. I was hooked from then on. It's on their RUclips covers channel. They have since worked with both Mike Campbell and Steve Ferrone of The Heartbreakers in performance and recording. "Let It Be Me" had been a part of their live set for many years before finally being put on an album, the Grammy winning "Blood Harmony".
Larkin Poe rock.
I haven't heard that one before. The kick drum and her turning up the vocals at the end is what made it for me.
It was so friggin good. That slide on the lap guitar! Woooooo!!!!
Thanks, Roni. Great review as always. I felt similar to what you did when I first heard "Might as Well Be Me", but after listening to it countless times on the "Blood Harmony" album, (on repeat in the car) I eventually decided the lyrics are an expression of love and support for a partner going through tough times, with the narrator trying to be a safe haven. Does that make sense?
Yup, gotta do "Black Betty", Jam in the Van. It's a great song done very well by the ladies.
Marty Sammon did some Jam in the Van sessions. There all good.
Ah, I see what you're saying. Makes sense. Ah man... love is such a tricky and beautiful thing...
And yes!!! I will add those on the list.

You’re right, this performance is pretty seismic! And Black Betty is great - but check out Jailbreak!! 😉🎸🔥
Ahhhh! So much to watch! I love it!!!! Exciting!

Six years is an age in the world of Larkin Poe. Since this vocal performance Rebecca's vocals have only improved, helped by a discussion with Lizzie Hale on how to take better care of her vocal instrument, and surgery for a deviated septum. Here is a live performance of MAWBM from a few days ago . ruclips.net/video/lZRrjiOMvsk/видео.htmlfeature=shared
When, all those months ago, I left a comment on one of your The Warning reactions suggesting you check out another "sister act that rocks" I was hoping that you would like it. To see your reactions to their music makes me so happy😊
You mention the performance aspect, it's a big part of what they do. If you are lucky enough to see them live in concert you'll notice they are not a band that just stands in front of a microphone going through the motions. They are also great at getting the audience involved. If it won't act as spoilers for future reactions have a look at one of the many recordings of them on stage. There is a really good one of their Cologne gig (Rockpalast) from last year but there are plenty of others, some professionally recorded, some not, from past tours
There are a few recordings of them doing Black Betty, including from this session, they are all good. Another great reaction ❤🤘
Thank you! I'll try to get to everything (even f I won't react to it all, at least I'll give it a listen).
Looks like we have the same modus operandi, recommending Larkin Poe to fans of The Warning and vice versa! They're both great bands live, seen Larkin Poe twice and going to my third Warning show tomorrow. Had meet and greets with both and all the sisters are some of the nicest, appreciative artists in the industry. One of the biggest wish I was there moments with LP has to be the encore they did with both their husbands ruclips.net/video/8zmg3Q9hGko/видео.html
Rebecca and Megan rock, no need for anyone else! Yeah, Rebecca is often compared with Janis Joplin - it doesn’t quite resonate with me, but definitely getting there! When you think about it Rebecca was playing guitar, singing and playing the bass drum! Megan’s prowess on Lap steel is legendary, her solo was amazing, she’s also a great singer.
Great reaction, more LP please!
Larkin Poe and The Warning are my favorite bands, love me some sibling magic in my music. Seen LP twice now and going to my third Warning concert tomorrow. It's not just that these 5 women are fantastic musicians, they're also humble, intelligent and very appreciative of their fans. Seeing how you loved this one I'm sure this will hit the same spot ruclips.net/video/dDNE0ehJhgg/видео.html it's one of my favorite pieces of music, not just from them but ever. It has the shamefull amount of zero reactions to it so I'm hoping you can change that!

I hope you like one of them

If you liked that, you need to try their latest single that just came out called bluephoria. They just keep getting better and better.
Hey Roni, that kinda reminds me of an acoustic Pearl Jam.. great vibe, I would go buy a slide and retune your acoustic and give a go... 🎸🎸
😁🙏🎸💜 Not at a slide stage yet on my skill level, but maybe one day!
It reminded me too of Janis Joplin!
She's got a very powerful and tasty voice, the song sounded very good and the solo was awesome! (Don't forget the feet, never forget the feet, he was kicking hard in the bass!)
The voice reminded me also of Huriah Heep's "Feels like" (male voice)
Sadly there's no live video, but the song is amazing, link:

This is a hybrid of Birmingham 1973 sound (I was there) and Video Japan plus another uk venue; they were amazing!

Can't say this is one of theirs I like. Bit too slow without being soft enough of a sound.
