Hi Mike just been looking back at some of your early video and found this one which has been a great help as we live in France and you cannot buy box blade or land plain here only level blade I use a lot of your early video as a free tool keep up the good work. Anthony
Hey Mr. Morgan.... Im gonna be honest with you.... I never really cared for your videos, but I kept watching them because I just bought a tractor and I have 10 acres I am clearing out and working on...But I have to say, you do have good videos with a lot of useful information, esp for a guy like me (that doesn't know what he is doing). thanks for all you do and keep them coming.
I always feel,, after watching one of your vids, that I can go out to my yard and run whatever machine you have been using, perfectly. Fortunately I am retired now, so the yards around here are safe! Thank you both, again for a great, fascinating video and have a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year! Sincerely Rod
We ordered our rear blade a week ago. Your videos make me feel confident that I can always have solid video documentation on how best to leverage our tractor and implements to their fullest potential. Keep up the great work Morgans! Merry Christmas!
When i run Re-Rock on a driveway i put on the Skid shoes on and push the gravel out at depth. (reverse blade like you do.) Something like 2". Then back drag the bucket going backwards. Works Great! nice and clean and compacted.
Love the Encino Jacket, I have a boat load of the Columbia jackets. I push snow with blade backwards. We also put up at least 2 Christmas trees in my house. Ron. Sorry Mike,,
Excellent video. You are an excellent teacher. I'm getting ready to do a similar project for the first time, the timing of this video is perfect. Merry Christmas.
Nice job. I have a 1950 Farmall Super A with a IH #60 Leveling and Grader Blade. I can mount it in the front like a dozer blade or mount it under the belly like a road grader. Works get for grading driveways.
Well I know what you did after the driveway was done lol. Hope you had fun getting a tree with the family. Thanks for another very educational video on the rear blade use.
Good video. I never comment on your videos, and know you mentioned not liking clean stone in another video... but hear me out. That particular area was a perfect candidate for clean 1B stone. Many people dislike it because they put too much down and it makes a mess--- or they use 2B which is too big and marbles around--- BUT on a base like that, just a tiny sprinkle of 1B clean stone will make it so much nicer looking and eliminate tracking all the dust. I moved into a home on a semi private lane where everyone loved that dirty crushed stuff- I had to bed and plead my case to use clean stone (they caved because I was so relentless, and was the guy with the tractor, lol) and now everyone is happier with their cleaner cars and garages. You seem set in your ways- not a bad thing- but perhaps consider my point. Nice vids!
Excellent advice on how to set up, work backwards, and work from level surface to stabilize the back end. I use a box scraper rather than blade, but works the same way. However, I avoid 90% of the work, by having the truck spread the rock. I not only order the rock, but I also specify the driver - has to be good at spreading. A good driver can spread better than you can place by the bucket load. I have them leave a small pile, which I then work to fill in along the edges, etc. Really enjoy your videos. Merry Christmas and get both a Christmas tree and a good pair of gloves. From the great Northwest and plenty of rain and mud.
I use my old 3 point ford blade for alot lol snow, gravel, also use it on my motocross track to smooth and clean up ruts, works great! spins 180 degrees and can lock on an angle or straight with a pin, very similar to yours, can be the right tool for many jobs! cheers from Ontario Canada
Good vid. You make it look easy Mike. By my beginners experience, it's not at first, but I'm getting the hang of it. Good tips I watched you do today.👍Now, get that tree; though a video of Melissa rolling/wrestling you in that fresh gravel would be hilarious.😀
@Ms. Morgan....MY money's on YOU to win THAT match. I never won a single round but I still adore the memories. Have faith. He'll do ya right.....~ Eli.
Good job Mike, been working a rear blade like that on my 9N for over 45 years with NO Draft control... I like the RK, they just don't sell them in Texas. Great quality video, I know it takes time to set up filming, editing, etc. You always make good points in what your doing. Thanks again, keep up the good work, and Merry Christmas from near the Texas - Mexico border. JaaaaJaaaJaaaahhhhh !
Besides the great grading info . When your wife came home and talked about the Christmas tree , that was funny. Maybe all wives do speak the same language. Thanks for another great video. Have a Merry Christmas. (After you get that tree)
Yeah Mike, if you have a gravel driveway (I have 1600 ft.), a blade is a must. I have rarely used a box blade on mine. Only if the truck driver leaves humps. I've learned it takes a special touch (as you have) with a blade. Good job on your driveway. After a few years of using what we call "crusher run", (1 1/2 to dust), I put a coating of 1/2 to 3/4 clean rock down. This seems to lessen the soupy gray slurry after a rain. Enjoy your videos.
nice job, still tough for a new operator to acheive. I prefer a boxblade. I use my blade for ditches (well... I pretty much never use it), to each his own I guess. I started with a blade then I bought a boxblade and I never looked back since... I'm now able to feel the tractor and able to adjust the 3pts accordingly. takes time. nice video as usual!
Thank you, Mike, this is exactly the type of skill I’ve been wanting to learn. You gave us a great Christmas gift through this video. I pray I can buy a tractor to put this knowledge to work on our family property.
Your a late tree guy too lol here's what we did on our tree shopping trip, Tractor goodies and outdoor adventure stuff Rural King, Christmas Tree and lights Mernards and added bonus tons of stuff to look at and shop for great prices long story short Great day for all and Happy Wife happy life.
Just came across this video and wondered why you didn't use or talk about a draft control feature, if the tractor has it, which works very well with a back blade.
Very versatile piece of equipment in my opinion. Of course the real trick with any of it seem to be getting the grade wanted/need -- especially when starting from scratch. Which is something I can't say I've mastered yet, but I'm thinking it's important to start by creating a flat surface to work from, and then work to level the entire area while flattening/leveling everything else. ....of course I could be wrong, never worked construction and just working to figure things out project by project.
When spreading rock, I just use the bucket. You can spread the rock and then back up with the front tires off of the ground and adjust the bucket roll as to how aggressive you are moving rock. A box blade is great for smoothing out and refreshing a drive way. I just put the teeth down an inch or two and have all kinds of loose rock to move around.
Ok Mike now you did it! You know spreading that fresh stone almost guarentees that we will get about a foot of really wet heavy snow that will wrap itself around that new stone and gladly carry it away when you plow the snow ☺
Good video Mike, really liked the way you explain everything you was doing with the rear blade. You made it work so well for you. I hope we see you later this week, should be here ifin you get down and boogey on down for the Christmas Tree. ;-) Hi Melissa, be easy on him , he's still learning to tell time !! Thanks for sharing.
love that subtle hint - get off the toys and get us a Christmas Tree - lol --- another enjoyable video - Congratulations on the success of your channel - it is well deserved
Next get a snow pusher for the front of the tractor for snow removal, I have a 10 ft unit. I use it for lite snow. I use the Lucknow 7ft 3 point hitch 2 stage blower for deeper snow, then use the pusher to fine tune the clean up. Should do a video of it.
Nicely done! When the video started, I was thinking, I wonder if he is going to blow those leaves off before he puts down stone. Next thing I know you bust out the blower 👍🏻
Hi Mike and Melissa if we don't see anymore video's we will know what happened to you Mike, you didn't get the Christmas tree. Have a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year. Oh and Mike be sure to get a tree for downstairs. All the best.
@Wayne Barnes....Agreed. Easter, Christmas, and Birthdays were a BIG deal for MY Love. Even as young as I was, I learned early on what hills I didn't want to die on.
Believe it or not, I was operating, (primitive), tractors before you were even born and I STILL learn here. That said, park it and get that Christmas tree. A happy wife= a happy life. If OUR tree wasn't up by the 15th, I ate at McDonald's 'til it was.
Just got back from RK store looking at RK 55 cab is like the Mahindra 3646,8yr power train warranty is good, except that manager stated that motor only covered by 2 year warranty and all other power train covered for 6 more years after first 2 is done, Maysville Ky store.
Mike - been watching since you started and love the channel. We moved away from city into rural wine country in NoVA, bought a tractor, etc. about 18 mo ago. Enjoying life, hunting, firewooding... Big question I have is how do you keep weeds and grass from growing in gravel driveway? We have a bunch.
laotsuuuuu we have lots of weeds in W Washington also. Buy a land plane or box blade and just keep leveling and working your gravel. It will eliminate the weeds and your drive way will look great.
@@Iowaflyboy1We have a land plane, and I swear it got worse after using it. Was wondering if we need more rock. Mike never looks like he has any growth.
Hey Mike , went back through to find this video because of the dual adjustment on the blade . Do you happen to remember what they called it or perhaps a model # ?
So Mike, what is the method for holding the blade at just that right position as you back past the concrete slab? My blade has seen better days as the tractor turned out to be more powerful than it could handle. So it moves quite a bit in all directions. No loader on this tractor. Oh, and I guess you got a tree as I have watched more recent videos that included Melissa.
Hey Mike, great job and great how to video. Thanks again for everything you do. I sure hope you went and got Melissa's Christmas tree. She was talking about seeing a different side of her after she has her Christmas tree. There could also be a different different side if you don't go get her tree, you know what I mean Bro. Merry Christmas to both of you and all of your family. Paul P.S. I want to see that tree after it's up.
Greetings Mike thank you for your video today, but for the crying out loud....get a rip-‘n tree. Don’t be a grinch. Several years ago we went to the soil district office and bought some fir transplants and now we harvest our own trees. Lots of fun. Go for it! Bet you could make a great video about it.”Terrific “
Another great video! It's been almost a year with RK.... Are you thinking yet what implements you can't live without once the commitment is over? I'm just a couple months out on my new RK55 and like most will only be getting a couple with the purchase.
Hi Mike just been looking back at some of your early video and found this one which has been a great help as we live in France and you cannot buy box blade or land plain here only level blade I use a lot of your early video as a free tool keep up the good work. Anthony
Sunday morning, a large coffee and another one of Mike's great videos. A very nice way to start the day.
hey, Im doing the same thing bro!! haha
This is quite helpful. This right here is the value of youtube!

Thanks. I feel like I'm in my sophomore year of my outdoor/tractor/equipment running education. Have a productive day.
I bought a back blade this year and have been struggling with it a bit. This video was very helpful. Thank you.
very good quality video. I can see why RK likes you so much!
I always feel,, after watching one of your vids, that I can go out to my yard and run whatever machine you have been using, perfectly. Fortunately I am retired now, so the yards around here are safe! All this neat stuff you do, makes me wish I was young again.
Good information, Mike. All of this stuff, like anything, just takes practice. Nice way to begin my morning.
Good job !! You make it look easy. With a little practice I am sure that most of us could do a passable job.
My rear blade arrived yesterday, can't wait to give it a try . Thanks for the tips !
That was awesome, loved that comment about the Christmas tree. Reminded me so much of home!
Rear blades are great. Nice video proof
When i run Re-Rock on a driveway i put on the Skid shoes on and push the gravel out at depth. (reverse blade like you do.) Something like 2". Then back drag the bucket going backwards. Works Great! nice and clean and compacted.
Good explanations and demo. Thanks.

lol over achiever
I hardly ever use my blade but I believe I should give it a try. Thanks Mike
Good tips, good camera work, good tractor operation. Your a cool dude, Mike!
Great lesson Mike, cheers
Excellent video. You are an excellent teacher. I'm getting ready to do a similar project for the first time, the timing of this video is perfect. Merry Christmas.
Yet another good video. You make it look easy. Good job!
Can’t wait to get my RK55 so I can try all these techniques! Thanks Mike!

Well I know what you did after the driveway was done lol. Hope you had fun getting a tree with the family. Thanks for another very educational video on the rear blade use.

Excellent 👍
I welded on some pipe on each end of blade add plow floats. Use in winter. Plow snow without digging in. Take care.

Might ought to get that tree. She looked kinda tough with that 880 chain saw.

Another great video that i somehow missed. Now waiting on the new upload for today.
Great Job !!!
Another great video, thank you !
Thanks Jerry
Nice. I would just pave that upper pad area and stone the long rung driveways

Not with a set of Edge Tamers for the bucket! With those you can literally rake leaves with your bucket!

Oops! Almost forgot, Merry Christmas to everyone watching, and God Bless!
the trap rock is supreme
Nicely done! When the video started, I was thinking, I wonder if he is going to blow those leaves off before he puts down stone. Next thing I know you bust out the blower 👍🏻
Great video Mike in showing us another way of using a blade . Perfect example of why I never got married . LOL
Rut Roh ... time to get those priorities in order! Christmas tree then driveway duhooooooo! LOL
Very nice job. You make it look easy... it's not! I have done it. 👍
That the beauty of editing and time-lapse video.

I felt like we were ALL going to get in trouble with Melissa if he didn't get that gall dang Christmas tree! :-)
probably true
@The Morgans.....Hey!....If Mike chooses to commit suicide....NO reason for him to splash blood on ME. I'M in Melissa's corner.
Hey Mike , went back through to find this video because of the dual adjustment on the blade . Do you happen to remember what they called it or perhaps a model # ?
Lol, if mom isn’t happy, no one is. I hope you got that tree...😆
Looks good. Will last way longer than the christmas tree did I hope

I can only hope my wife enjoys my toys as much as urs does when I’m
In my 40’s lol
What would be a good sickle bar for a rk55 ?
Nice project and instruction . Do you store your tractors in a building? Could be another vid. Merry Christmas!
u best get that christmas tree mike!......mike?!........MIKE? oh crap .....check the obituaries guys
She probably pushed him down one of those staircases they have all throughout the property....
:-(
Here lies Mike:
He was workin on the driveway, not the Christmas trees,
now he's 6 feet under, pushin up daisies!!
:-)
You better get the Christmas Tree because you are going to be in dog house. It is not going to matter how nice the drive way look.
Does anyone know if he has any videos of how to prep land for a driveway using the blade?
Mom done laid down the law!!! I would have been like yes mama let’s go!
watched the whole video and ALL anyone remembers is "get that Christmas tree" !!
Ok Mike I want to see the other side of MO she wants her TREE. Ha GOD has spoke looks like you did another great job. Now go get that tree.
Look up how to operate a grader and carry a windrow,i think it will help you.
Another great video! It's been almost a year with RK.... Are you thinking yet what implements you can't live without once the commitment is over? I'm just a couple months out on my new RK55 and like most will only be getting a couple with the purchase.
I have been thinking about that, some time I will do a "Must Have" video
14:45 Get that Christmas Tree LOL
I clean up woodlines with my rear blade.
