@@Luckey900 Muhammad Ali was arrogant also but it was for show and he was funny with it. He knows deep down that there are fighters out there that would beat him. Mike Tyson was arrogant then humbled when beaten by Lewis and again against McBride. ... what others were arrogant? Holmes was born right, he was lucky to be fighting in the lackluster decade he fought in. He needs to understand that.
Nothing but deep admiration for his former boss, I recall the era during and after very well. Larry's recollections are extremely candid, particularly on fighting fellow-sparring partner, late Rodney Bobick. Ali once said same in World Boxing article (Rodney the better of the two Bobick's).
LARRY HOLMES - In his prime he could have fought and competed fantastically and beaten most in any era...against any other HW....And PRIME LARRY HOLMES HAD THE BEST HE JAB EVER ! IT WAS A COMBO OF SONNY LISTON'S AND MUHAMMAD ALI'S JABS...If you do not think so...study the footage of all three...most of you will see it...
One of the refs said that in Holmes’ prime, his jab was so fast (& powerful), that on some of his jabs, he (the ref) only knew Holmes threw it by the sound & sweat flying from his opponent’s face &/or the snap back of his opponent’s face. Damn! That’s fast 💨 (((🥊(( fo’ yo’ AZZ!😂
@@thegodfather1924 Holmes had a lot of the attributes Ali had, but I think Holmes' overall arsenal had more stuff. Holmes had the capability to use the tactic of putting his gloves in front of your face and this contributed to three things: gauging distance, blocking the opponent's vision, and setting up a right hand. This is a very useful tactic for fighters who are bigger and longer than others. Ali hypothetically could've used this too given Ali had superior size most of the time. But he didn't. Ali kept to his signature style a lot. I don't know who would've won prime for prime, but I respect both fighters and am willing to say they have chances over each other.
Larry has always been a Gentleman and a True Champion a Role Model for Everyone !
(Best Jab in the Business too !)
Thankyou Larry Holmes

People don't know how tough this man was.
He took hard blows ftom Shavers, Cooney, Tyson & lot of old school boxers.
“Whatever he call you, he goin be right” perfectly said, larry!
A boxer. Beautiful jabs to set up his power punches. Very underrated. Excellent championship for many years.
That was one of the saddest fights of all time... ali just stands there round after round and gets jabbed in the face
Larry Holmes, always a class act and a fantastic fighter.

thank you Larry
Such an underappreciated Heavyweight Champion. "The Eastern Assassin". One of the best to ever do it. Point, blank and period!
Easton Assassin.
One of the top 3 or 4 fighters of all times, hands down.

Still Ali in his prime was better.Ali from 67 was untouchable.
His jab would shoot like a piston. He actually knocked down an opponent with just the jab. It connected perfectly
this ageing comes to everyone he dont sound atall like he used to
P4P maybe the greatest heavyweight boxer his style was hard to crack he was masterclass

Holmes always been a legit dude....though he should have gone alil easy on Ali during the fight....I know he wanted 2 protect his legacy and all
He did go easy on ali he couldve killed him if he tried
