Great video! My 2003 Envoy had the same issues. I was able to find the part. After watching video, I was able to change it myself! Local repair shop told me it would be about $700 because they had to pull dash out, so here I went searching on the internet. It's been 2 years now and still running strong!
Thank you! for this video. My 2005 Trailblazer has the manual switch and the part is slightly different but the process is the same for replacement. My air was not working at all on any speeds. I removed the resistor and one end wire was melted. The wiring harness was also either melted or fused to the old resistor and would not separate so I cut each wire one by one and crimped them to a new harness with the supplied connectors. After replacing the resistor and wiring harness, my air now works perfectly on all speeds. Your video is the best one on RUclips for replacing these parts. I especially appreciated you providing the socket sizes to use..that was a time saver and made the repair even easier. 5 Stars *****
Thank you gosh, everyone was saying AC compressor. Hubby refused to believe, that is when we found your helpful video. Coldest setting never worked then put of no where AC/Heat went down, just like we read in the comment below. Hubby switched out resistor and viola we have all AC/Heat. Thank you

Thank you for making this video. My 06' Trailblazer's blower decided to quit yesterday during the polar vortex. Took a chance on this being the culprit and indeed it was. Be sure to check the wiring on the new Transistor as the one I purchased was manufactured with the cords too short. We spliced them with the old one & installed it. Back to keeping me warm!

Thank you - super helpful. Chevy TB Ext 04 - Rear AC did not work when I purchased truck and lost speed 5 about 3 months ago - then lost all speeds - used your video and got to resistor and it was melted together with 7 wire harness. Purchased a 7 wire harness pigtail and spliced to new resistor - extra butt connectors were needed - all 5 speeds working and rear ac working now too! Can't thank you enough!
You only have one blower motor resistor. That may be the culprit, but I can't say for certain that it is. Usually when they go bad you loose the lower speeds, maybe on your the higher speed decided to fail. With electrical stuff anything's possible.

Hey thabks for the vid. Did it just today. Looks like a quick fix but with the clips and the splicing its about an hour to fix start to finish. Thanks again!
You may want to check the AC compressor to see if it's kicking off and on when the AC is on in the Truck. If it is it could be low on refrigerant. Hope this helps you out.
My son has a 2006 Trailblazer LS. The fan motor stopped while on fan speed 5. The blower motor proved good. Thanks to the video, we found both the resistor and the wiring harness plug overheated. We replaced both parts. Now, the fan runs at a full fan speed 5, regardless of speed settings at switch and will not shut off when ignition is off! Seems to be a process of elimination to reward my son with warmth in this cold season. Please send Good News that there is a cure after all with this vehicle!
Nice video. I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer with this issue. I only had fan speeds 1,2 left. Ordered the replacement resistor for $26 (shipping + tax) online. My neighbor helped me replace the part. We were able to clean the prongs on the wiring harness that had some melted plastic on them. All is good. Have all my fan speeds back.
You may want to check the plug end on the wire that provides power to the blower motor. It may need to be replaced. The blower motor could be going bad which might be causing this issue. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Hi! I have the same issue, my ac blower would stop working on the 5TH speed. Then quickly after I noticed the issue, now it won't work at all, meaning non of the speed 1-5. However, when I am driving and I turn the ac on I can feel some cold air coming in! Do you think this is the speed control resistor?
Hi,thanks for this video. On my '03 Trailblazer the fan stays on FULL BLAST even when the ignition is turned off. Pulling the fuse has been my SOLUTION for a year now. I'll be taking care of this problem ASAP! Thanks!

it sounds as if you might have a few different issues. It could be a mixture of a bad blower motor and also possibly some bad actuators inside the HVAC system. You will want to bring this in to a local shop for a full diagnoses.
IF the selector isn't changing positions check the door actuator, and also check the engine bay and under the dash for a possible vacuum leak to see if that's the culprit at all. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thanks for the video, It was perfect. Helped me identify and fix my 2002 Trailblazer fan issue. And only took like 15 mins. part was 30 bucks at autozone.
You might have two different issues going on here. Usually when you start to loose the speed settings it's the blower motor resistor that needs to be replaced. If the vent is stuck on defrost there might be a broke, loose or disconnected vacuum line around the firewall or on the motor, you may also want to check under the dash too. It could also be a bad actuator in the system. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
There is normally a resistor with that as well that can cause a trickle of power to the motor. It sounds like you might have a few issue compacting each other at this time

Well I know for a fact you saved me cash. I can install my resistor with no problem myself(2004 Chevy Trailblazer).. But it seems that I have extra cords or missing cords... I wonder if I really need them or not.
My 2008 Trailblazer has a problem with the blower motor turning on by itself when the engine is off, the key is out and it is just sitting. It will run a while and shut off. It does not have automatic climate control, just the basic one. Would that be a resistor problem or a control module problem?
+Rebel9668 There could be multiple reasons why you're having this particular problem. We suggest taking your vehicle to a nearby reputable shop to identify the cause. Once you know the cause, we'll be happy to see if we carry the parts and how-to videos needed for your repair.
Need your help wondering if if this will help my issue. I'm not able to control the speed out of my vents and when I turn the trailblazer off the heating seems to continue on.
You may want to see if the door actuator is working correctly inside of the tube. There also may be something that's clogging it, preventing the air flow.
I have a 2003 Trailblazer and the speed control acts on 4 & 5 but not 1,2 or 3. Is this a issue with the blower motor resistor? If so how much does this component cost?
Hello, thanks for the video. I have a similar issue. My '04 Chevy Trailblazer ext has an issue with the fan. AC stopped working a long time ago but now the fan won't even work. If I put it on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...it won't turn on. However, sometimes, if I put it on 5 right away it will turn on and work for a bit. I looked up the problem and ended up going to buy a resistor (has a green square thing on top) and trying to replace it now..hope I'm doing the right thing and that it's that part? thanks
So I have an 06 Trailblazer LT with automatic AC, everything was working fine until today when the blower doesn't work on any settings, manual level or Auto, air recycle or defrost, the blower just doesn't go. I'll try first the blower resistor like in the video, but if doesn't fix it, what's next to check? the motor itself?
Thanks for the video -2008 Trailblazer with auto temp unit - blower quit working on all speeds. How do I diagnose whether I need to replace the Resistor or Motor - or both??
I have a 2007 trailblazer lt and the resistor you switch out in this video is the exact one I pulled out of my truck but the link for the part goes to a different looking resistor. the one i pulled out has a connector with 3 metal teeth in it on the opposite side of the metal "blades", the link gives a pic of one with 5 instead of 3. How can I get this exact part from the video?
Hi Chris, Here's a link to the blower motor resistor that we carry for a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer without Automatic Temperature Control. Hope this helps you out. www.1aauto.com/2007-chevy-trailblazer-blower-motor-resistor/y-mo-c/2007-806-157?RUclips&RUclips&ATony
If you are talking about the blower motor fan, if there's power to it and it doesn't work you may need a new blower motor fan . We carry blower motor fans on 1auto.com 888-844-3393
02 Bravada, same chassis. Front blower does not respond (work) to console commands, but rear seat blower console works fine -- hot air, for example. Should I just swap the blower motor behind the glove box by itself, or swap the resistor as well? Maybe check the relay first? Thanks -- great video
You should test the power to the blower motor with an ohm meter or a test light to see if there's power going to the blower motor. If there isn't, then check the fuse to see if it's good. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Can I send you a short video of the piece I'm talking about because I want to make sure I don't need anything else before I buy my blower motor resistor.
Hi I recently replaced the blower motor resistor and the connector harness and at first it worked fine on all speeds for about 45 mins, but now it's only working on speed 5. Would I have have to replace the fan switch?
I have a 2003 chevy trailblazer ext. When I try to turn on the heat nothing happens. How can I tell if I need to replace the motor resistor or motor fan assembly. Thanks for any info you can give me.
You could test the power at the blower motor resistor, and at the blower motor when the switch is turned on. If there's power going to them, the blower motor, or resistor may be bad. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
I changed out the battery on my 2005 Trailblazer aprox. 500 miles ago. I don't drive it very often, but just last night all 5 speeds on the temp. control stopped working. I watched another video about disconnecting the battery and the side effects it has on the HVAC actuators. Would this be the same problem or is it two totally different issues?
Good video. I have a 2001 blazer, and the fan selector (as in selecting face, feet, etc) won't switch. It is stuck on the face setting. the heat, and fan works fine, but I can't choose any other setting. Any idea on what this could be/how to fix? Thanks
Mine is a manual temp control. Which has a plug that goes into the resistor. When the resistor blew. The wire got hot and melted the casing of the resistor and part of the plug plastic together. Any idea how I get the two part now?
Hi, Im working on a 2005 Trail Blazer, The AC was working at full capacity but not blowing air in the front position, so the AC Control Assembly was replaced with an OEM part, Now the AC will not cool at all. The AC System, Freon level normal but still no cold air. Any suggestions?

It might be a bad blower motor resistor.
Mine had that cable toasted i ended up putting it together permanent and it worked used soldering gun to avoid having plastic toast
2004 envoy great video Thanks
GREAT VIDEO.. Super Helpful .. Worked Like Magic.. Thank YOu
Thanks for the video -2008 Trailblazer with auto temp unit - blower quit working on all speeds. How do I diagnose whether I need to replace the Resistor or Motor - or both??
Did you ever figure this out? Having same problem with mine
1A Auto Parts thanks for the reply, but again, please watch the video, this link you posted is not for the part in the video which is the part I need.
Would the resistor stop the blower motor from working?
If you are talking about the blower motor fan, if there's power to it and it doesn't work you may need a new blower motor fan . We carry blower motor fans on 1auto.com 888-844-3393
Awesome thanks! saved me from getting robbed at the dealership!
I have a 2004 Trailblazer and my fan works except at the 5th speed would that part you replaced in the video be what I need?
02 Bravada, same chassis. Front blower does not respond (work) to console commands, but rear seat blower console works fine -- hot air, for example.
Should I just swap the blower motor behind the glove box by itself, or swap the resistor as well? Maybe check the relay first?
Thanks -- great video
You should test the power to the blower motor with an ohm meter or a test light to see if there's power going to the blower motor. If there isn't, then check the fuse to see if it's good. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
@1aauto The blower motor resistor? Or another resistor all together?
Can I send you a short video of the piece I'm talking about because I want to make sure I don't need anything else before I buy my blower motor resistor.
Hi I recently replaced the blower motor resistor and the connector harness and at first it worked fine on all speeds for about 45 mins, but now it's only working on speed 5. Would I have have to replace the fan switch?
You may want to take a look at it to see if it's working correctly. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I have a 02 Chevy Trailblazer and my ac/heater won't work unless its on full blast. Is this what I need to replace?
I changed out the battery on my 2005 Trailblazer aprox. 500 miles ago. I don't drive it very often, but just last night all 5 speeds on the temp. control stopped working. I watched another video about disconnecting the battery and the side effects it has on the HVAC actuators. Would this be the same problem or is it two totally different issues?
Thank you for watching. It sounds like 2 separate issues. Please let us know how the repair comes out!

My girlfriends fan only works on the "5" setting, will this help fix this issue?
