I've been investing in STLA recently. From a valuation perspective Stellantis seems to be one of the auto makers that has one of the greatest balance sheets and margin of safety. They have negative net total debt ($19032 billion) with a rediciously low EV/EBITDA ) of 1.17, cash per share of $17.66 (current price is $12.90) and book value of $20. In top of that they pay a dividend of 8%. It is very much true that STLA is a cyclical stock and that the best time to buy it is during a recession. However, given its absence of debt, and its cash reserves I think STLA has a very strong means of survivorship and is one of the safest plays on the auto-industry.
I agree. I don't think Sven took time on this. PE is not 5 but 2.75.
guys, Sven took time, Sven knows the industry. Thus, the PE ratio, the cash, are totally irrelevant. It is about the power of the business and you are looking at it after the best 5 years in the history of the industry. You could be totally right, but that is a bet I am not taking - just sharing my opinion :-)
@@Value-Investing Thanks Sven. I get what you're saying now. You may be right.
now the share price has gone up to 16,20€ with a PE of 3. Are you still in?
But hoestly, if a balance sheet like this do not survive next recession, there will be no automaker anymore. But hey, why is it trading at cash value while profitable?? what's the risk here?
You truly are a rockstar in the field of education, thank you!!
that is my plan, thanks!
Awesome snippets into your thinking, Sven, much appreciated! Quite illustrative and practical, sometimes better than pure theory.
P.S. Please look at wind turbines manufacturers: Vestas, Siemens Energy, TPI Composites.
thanks for suggesting!
I’ve taken some quick looks at Vestas a couple of times because I’m Danish and it’s one of our prides. Seems overvalued and more of a growth stock than anything. Well, most Euro stock carry a fat premium due to low rates.
Complimenti SVEN per l'ottima analisi come sempre ma preferivo le valutazioni sul prezzo e non sulla market cap dei titoli !!! E comunque la PANDA è una super car 😀
:-)))
TROW is definitely a popular pick recently, thanks for bringing it up!
It really is!
you made laugh my ass off with your stellantis analysis sven, i liked it a lot :)
:-))))))
your takedown of stellantis was absolutely hilarious. Please analyze ASML next week. Cheers!
On it!
A pretty attractive business, but still looks overvaluated as it seems. Let`s wait for what Sven will say. I`m waiting for its price to come to ~370 level to start considering
Thanks Sven! I know you don't analyse growth stocks but I'd love to see your view on $DM. They might be priced interestingly and their moat consists of a lot of patents and fastest metal 3d printing in the industry. But they also print dental, wood, foam and work with companies like tesla, black & decker, ford. Financials are a bit tricky so I'd be glad to hear from you if you think they will make it till profitability or go bankrupt... Their expectation is profitability next year.
thanks for suggesting!
Pozdrav Sven !
Pratim svaki tvoj video i stvarno si me dosta naučio o investiranju.
kad dodje vrijeme!
Thank you Sven for these great videos! A few years ago you made a video on tobacco companies. Can you maybe do an update on those? Maybe they could do well in an inflationairy enviroment. Pricing power (biggest part of the price of sigaretes is tax). No need for heavy capital investments. Big dividends.
not really my cup of tea!
Great video and extremely helpful! As a suggestion, would you be able to do analysis of Regeneron stock (REGN). They regularly put money back into their business and do share buy backs.
Great suggestion!
Sven with the Alfa Romeo joke! Classic! This man knows every industry!!! FIAT is an acronym for Fix It Again Tomorrow also.
but don't tell it to Italians long STLA, they will find you and have you killed

Thank you very much!
Great video. Many thanks ;-)))
Thank you too!
Thank you for all the valuable content. What do you think about Liberty Global (LBTYA, LBTYK)?
that is an interesting one, covered on my platform
Great video! If you could do tobacco companies, Phillip Morris and British American Tobacco, as an example, it would be great!
not really my cup of tea
Enjoyed the video Sven. Which stocks on your list, for the current environment (hiking rates and looming recession) would you consider buying now and which have a margin of safety?
I don't consider any of them a buy for myself, but that might be different for you!
Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
Your stellantis analysis was hilarious. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love watching and learning from you perspectives! Would you be able to analize a company/stock called li-cycle? Would you consider that to be a good value stock right now? thanks! from canada where we smash the like button everyday!

Thank you for your analysis! What you think about Posco and Iberdrola?
don't know much about those :-(
Hi Sven! can you analyze this stocks , William Sonoma (wsm), REGN , matador resources , AutoZone
And if you can explain how to spot a value trap?
Great suggestion!
Good day, I've been following your videos for a while now and I have a question. When you do your valuation calculations, why do you use Free cash flow instead of earnings ? Could you explain the difference and how to use one or the other please. Thank you so much for your content and sharing.
depends on the business, what best represents how it creates value for shareholders!
Dominos pizza investment case is forgetting the central point, their pizza sucks, for real. omg. For Stellantis, i agree that these cyclicals need to be bought in different market phases, but i am not convinced about your assessment about their management. Anyone in the auto industry knows that they (first Marchionne and then Tavares) did 3 of the most crazy turn around of the auto industry in the last 20 years (Fiat, Chrysler, PSA), so they are not the last fools taken from the street. I recommend you to read Marchionne's biography for more insights, about confessions of a capitals junkie, as we used to call himself, very insightful about markets as well. They have 22 bln debt, but also 50 bln cash at disposal (BMW, Daimler, Renault, Toyota dont...). For the record, lately Alfa Romeos are pretty reliable on consumer reports. Indeed their premium brands are still niche, but still i find them nice. In the last 20 years they undoubtly did reward shareholders (your graph was including premerger info from psa only). Thanks for the content!
yes, but the channel says Value investing with Sven, not Turnaround investing with Sven in cyclical companies promising miracles! Anything can happen, i just look at the risk and reward!
I'd really like to see CATL stock analysis they are the champion of battery manufacturing in china and are the top sought business.
thanks for suggesting!
I seriously doubt STLA will be able to fulfill all the ambitions listed in that report, but as far as car brands goes, I think STLA has serious possibility of doing well. It is positioning its brands to cover all the price points and forcing technology sharing across brands. I didn't do a valuation, so I am not sure if analysts are pricing it based on all the non-car ambition non-sense or just the forecast for their native car sector.
Anything is possible, but when a company tries to do too much, that usually doesn't end up well!
when the company's management promises fantastic income forecasts divorced from reality, this speaks of the speculative thinking of managers and their irrational thinking (the greed of the heads of the companies eventually brings down the entire company and all shareholders) so it was in Wells Fargo, according to Buffett, they created a lot of fake accounts, in order to culturally steal more money from shareholders in the form of bonuses, etc. from each fake account. As a result, shareholders, including Buffett, paid dearly for everything. So he got rid of this company. İnvestigate this company as deeply and extensively as possible, especially for former scandals and management manipulations. They are often more idiotic than we imagine.
A very entertaining video but I'm not sure I agree with regards to Stellantis, they pay a great dividend of 8.8%, they have strong financials, consistently paying down debt except during 2020, with strongly improving free cash flows and revenues, their debt to equity ratio is 0.6 which is better than a lot of other car companies like Ford, Daimler, etc, which puts them in a comparatively better position to transition to electric vehicles, and further, given that electric cars are in general more expensive than ICE vehicles I expect that electric vehicles on the cheaper end of the spectrum will have quite a sizable market share. Further, while it's European brands are indeed quite terrible, it's US brands do well in the U.S.. There's risk in everything of course but it seems to me that this company is quite undervalued and ought to do quite well moving forward, and ought to survive in reasonable health even if a recession does occur.
thanks for sharing!
I think barrack gold having a carlin mine is a big enough moat for me definetly a buy 😉
:-)))))))))
Laughed pretty hard during your stellantis analysis always keep the Humor :D

Hey Sven,
Would be really, really appreciated if you could talk about US STEEL (X), and the steel industry in general.
I'm holding a major part of my port. of a steel company also. Thanks for reading!
Great suggestion!
@@Value-Investing Looking forward to!
US Steel really rubs me the wrong way. They are extremely exuberant m, always assuming best-case scenarios. And for some reason diluting shareholders massively.
But it looks like value. Or a value trap.
They keep promising shareholder returns through buybacks, but all I see is dilution.
Pity.
Love these videos sven
Thanks!

Where do you see the amazon fcf value? Even after adding the rivian loss of $7 billion it’s still a negative. If you look before pandemic the fcf was around $20 billion. So it’s still trading at 52 times fcf. Pricy for a company that could have peaked and might not reach the heights it had before.
Anyway, great video as always!
Just an estimate if they would not reinvest as mucch
Ooooooohhhh la mia prima macchina è stata una panda, pagato 7mln di Lire (3500 Euro)nel 1992. Vero che era scarsa, ma è durata 10 anni e poi venduta a 800 euro😂😂😂…. Comunque hai ragione, in generale meglio lasciare stare automotive. PS…. Un giorno analizzi Dropbox? Ciao

Hi Sven, great video again. Will you analyze CACC stock?
thanks for suggesting!
Could you research the stock columbia sportswear, it is a family business that uses organic growth and only bought 2 companies in their entire history, more cash than debt. Also been a compounder over a long period trading at a 13 pe with a small dividend. Could it be a buffet like stock to own forever?
thanks for suggesting!
Looking at earning, STLA seems fine, expecially if compared with competitors. What about BABA? It was indicated as a huge occasion, but it is struggling. Are you still accumulate it?
now the share price of stla is 16,20 € and they had the best year ever. PE is still at 3.
You should check out Semi Industrial powerhouse ASML who has a 100% monopoly. Dutch Company.

Sven Vopak looks like a strong buy right now....Vopak: Infrastructure And Storage With A 4.5% Yield...Vopak is a Dutch storage and terminalling company.....The company is barely investing in growing its oil capacity, but focuses on LNG, LPG and industrial terminalling.....The share price has been sliding for several years now, and the stock is now too cheap to ignore.....I bet HAL will focus on VOPAK if the boskalis take over fails
THanks For Suggesting!

Dear Sven. Could you please include in your next video related to stock analyses the company Stanley Black & Decker? The stock is almost 50% down compared to last year. Furthermore it seems to be a solid company with over 50 consecutive dividend increases. Thanks a lot in advance.

@@Value-Investing The competitor Techtronic industries also looks good value right now.
can you talk about micron technology (MU)?

I miss Dominos. They closed down all locations in Denmark because of a major structural health code violation. (Using ingredients past expiry date.)
thanks for sharing! Those things happen in the business!
Stellantis sells in the Q1 2022 is down 12% but net revenues of €41.5 billion, up 12% compared to €37.0 billion for Q1 2021 reflecting strong pricing and vehicle mix, as well as favorable FX translation effects. It's not all the same in the sector.. After the fca-psa merge they started a new cycle and i don't see all that Dicaprio moment:)
thanks for sharing, anything can happen, but too much of a bet for me!
What about european companies? I find Novozymes quite interesting...
thanks for sharing!
BLK would be similar valuation situation to TROW?
likely!
Spot on for Stellantis, waiting for Samsung and Mercedes
Thanks for suggesting!
I entered TROW about a month ago at $125 ... I'm looking to buy more now at $100. Great company at a great price but I'm afraid of the loss of AUM (although this can change rapidly). I don't think this will ever see $60 except if we see an Armageddon. Lowest imho would be something around $80-$85
thanks for sharing!
what is Trow Price Moat?
I'm buying 100 shares of STLA and selling covered calls. I'll take the dividend and cover the downside.

Great video Sven, thanks for taking the time to put out content like this
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ivanhoe might be worth another look with copper production started and all phases of the Kamoa mine moved forward. Your valuation on subscriber platform wasn't flattering a couple of years. back. Valuation is a bit complex with ownership breakdown, different properties in different phases and geopolitical risks. It's taken a haircut of late. If the world does go into recession Green Infrastructure will likely be pushed hard again even though it is a partial driver of inflation.
will check it out soon!
