    Thank you for the video! You make it look easy. Now I'm wondering if I can replace my own vinyl siding. Home repairs like this is new to me. Does anyone know how much it should cost if I hired someone to remove and replace 3 panels? I don't want to be overcharged because of my lack of knowledge in this area. Thank you again!

    • @homemend
      @homemend  4 года назад +1

      heyhey dreamer! youre most welcome..the area off the repair should run a couple hunderd plus material at least...more if its in a hard to reach place....the scary repairs are the most expensive...i hope this helps!

    • @thedreamer215
      @thedreamer215 4 года назад

      @@homemend Thank you so much. It's the side of the house. Easy to reach. I can identify where each panel begins and ends. I guess that hard part is finding the same vinyl siding. Thank you again!

    How do you remove the vinyl siding if it has Styrofoam insulation
    behind. The Styrofoam insulation will not be rigid so what is there to
    pry on to get the the nails out holding the old vinyl siding to the
    house. Any ideas on this?

    • @homemend
      @homemend  3 года назад

      Hey Nathan. The nails will be Into a stud or sheathing. If the sheathing is foam , pry at the stud. You got this.

    we had to take the bottom part of the siding on our house to lift it and straps it. now we are been told that we need to take the full siding of the house to be able to add the part that was taken out in the bottom. is there a way to ad the siding that was taken out to the house without taken the whole house siding of?.

      @homemend  7 лет назад +1

      hi see it! it may be difficult but it can be done, you may need to install it top to bottom instead. You can do it!

    I just want to cut out about a 1 ft. or 2 piece instead of an entire length. I have a few spots on this place I just bought that looks like something was thrown at it and punched a hole break in it. I just can't see replacing an entire piece. thanks. Lots of help here.

      I saw another video of a guy doing what I was trying to do in the first place... by cutting a short piece and cutting off the top nail rail and part of the bottom flat hook piece and then he just rivets it in place from the bottom part. Hope to find that tool whatever you call it at home depot. Thanks

      just to warn you guys ,these unlocking tools will mark up your siding when you are trying to jam it into the the lock chanel , the metal rubs off and makes marks on the siding , next time i use it i will be sure to place a piece of thin cardboard behind it like the thickness of a match book or foldable clothing gift box type cardboard , the marks the metal leaves will come off for the most part but not too easily

    • @homemend

      Eileen Robinson hi Eileen! So awesome! I usually do mine as needed. There are slots in the siding for the nails and you can place them about every 16 inches apart. You got this! thanks for sharing!

    • @homemend

      duckmanjoel hey duck. The zipper tool slips between the tracks of the siding with the hook toward you. You can slide as needed to install or remove. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

      hey gandy.. yes that can be tricky on some styles of siding.. its kind of a push up, circle under type motion? lol not sure how else to describe it.. be gentle but unless its old and brittle, its a tough product. i hope this helps1

    After having a Hail Storm and 4 pieces of siding damaged the Insurance company estimates over $6K to replace 781 SQ FT but won't pay 1 cent to repair/replace damaged siding and I have the replacement siding from the original install. Go Figure. So I'll just take their 6 Grand Plus the $15K to replace the 9 year old asphalt shingle roof. OH don't forget the gutters and down spouts and the Garage roof for a total of $24,000 dollars. All because they won't let me repair/Replace 4 pieces of siding. Way to go American Family Insurance.
