    Ashley, this is absolutely great. My granddaughter was born with hydrocephalus and she needs a hat that is soft enough not to interfere with the shunt. This is great. I will be able to make some there and won't need to worry about taking my machine.

    New to all things DIY and sewing, looking at the pattern, how do i determine how big the material needs to be? And where it says cut on fold, wont that give me a flat edge instead of a round? Sorry im not sure how to read the pattern.

    • @Charmedbyashley
      @Charmedbyashley  6 лет назад +3

      It doesnt take much fabric, i would get a half yard, half yard can make you 2 to 3 hats. So folding your fabric in half, and then placing the pattern on with the folded edge lined up with the edge of the pattern that says cut on the fold will give you a mirror image of the pattern piece, you will cut it out and then open up the cut fabric and have your piece which will have one long curved edge and one flat edge, refer to the beginning of the video to make sure your fabric shape looks the same as it does in the beginning, If not refer to my Blog post www.charmedbyashley.com Hope this helps!!

    • @Charmedbyashley
      @Charmedbyashley  5 лет назад

      The pattern should be cut on the fold of your fabric, this will double the size of the pattern piece. on the pattern there are markings to show which side should be against your fold

    How do you cut the fabric so perfectly? Mine is all jagged around the edges. Also I couldn’t find specific Jersey knit. I don’t think mine is as thick as yours. Is that okay? Very new to this whole sewing thing. You’d think I’d be a pro after 4 girls! Haha

    • @Charmedbyashley
      @Charmedbyashley  6 лет назад +2

      Do you have a good pair of sewing scissors? As long as your fabric has a stretch then you should be good! Thicker will just make it warmer :) sometimes its just trial and error i still make a ton of mistakes and learn and then grow from it! If u cant find a jersey knit then maybe u have an old shirt in the back of the closet you can cut up! Think outside the box when your looking for fabrics :)
