Kumiko I appreciate you for this empire you’re building! I am currently paying off debt and god willing I’ll be finished by June. I wasn’t taught much about financial literacy but I have now learned so much from you amongst others within the last few months. I appreciate you and Thank you! 😊
I wasn't taught about money either. Basically, my parents showed me how to spend every penny I make. She has been so inspiring to me to get things done and to take control. I love the budget by paycheck method and it has been the only thing that has worked for me. Do you wish they would do this in high school so kids know what to do?
This is the most detailed and organized budget video, I have watched 100s this by far is the best. I being a teller really appreciate the denomination paper.
It’s so awesome you are doing this full time. I think it’s actually super helpful for people to see once a month budget and cash envelope videos because people like teachers near me only get paid once a month.
Fabulous system with very clear “how to” steps. I think this will work well for any age group as the savings and budget goals can be any that fit your personal needs. Thanks very much!
I think you did a great job on your workbook. I love, love the checking cushion and other ideas such as the misc envelope. You have great ideas! I'd love to suppprt you by buying your workbook but can't fit the cost into my budget right now. I'll just have to keep watching you and learning more from you.
I purchased the workbook in December so I only bought the new bill tracker download. Im thrilled with the changes you made, its PERFECT!!!!! Extra pay lines, sinking funds, extra debt and extra savings columns flows so much better. Also, the new sinking funds savings tracker is also PERFECT!!! having all the months with plus and minus signs allows me to write in red pen when I deduct and green pen when I add money. The beginning and end balances I write in black. This will help me determine for example car maintainence, how much I used and what month quickly by seeing it in red.
I am fairly new to your channel... I love your workbook. I currently have one in place for this year and sticking to a budget... can’t switch until next year. Plan to buy for next year!!
Thank you! Excellent video! I am not a mom and my expenses are very different yet I think this system could help me. Will look into your workbook, Thanks again!
Thank you soooo much for explaining how each category works. I was struggling with understanding the cash flow verse the savings for holidays and other items and then sinking funds as well.
Love your video. Great advice. I am not in debt, but want to keep track of where my money is going each month. I'm applying the envelope system next payday.😊
I know this might be such a weird question but what size binder do you use ? I know in one of your older blog posts you mentioned that you use a 1.5 inch binder but that was before you made the Budget By Paycheck Workbook. And here I see that you place your workbook in a binder.
With all that cash do you keep like you're sinking funds for instance in a safe? I just think about all that accessible cash being in my house and it makes me nervous. So I'm thinking that's probably how you do it but I'm just curious
Jamie Ford if you keep a ledger of the different accounts. Like a spreadsheet in excel, you can keep track of the amount in each account but have the money in one-bank-account.
Maybe u can divide your cash envelope money into clips like that u divide into the weeks... Like that u don't spend everything in the first week and in the last week it limited....
I just found your page and I love the way your binder is organized. I’m looking on your page to see how you created this binder. March binder looks a lot different. I know you created the worksheet but what about the binder itself?
Hello Miko, I hope you get this message. I am grateful for you in how you are showing us how to budget by paycheck. I am new to this method however it is speaking to me. Do you have a video that is a walk-through on each area of the work book and why each area is important? How to link the pages together... Sorry, I need baby steps... (pun not intended. :) )
We live pay check to pay check also and are maxed out to the penny every check with no room for savings and that’s with tight budgeting and being very minimal with groceries (bc our income doesn’t allow it to be any other way). We never have even $1 left over for saving or sinking funds and we don’t eat out or do anything outside the house that cost money or even gas money. We don’t want to live like this forever. Therefore we had to start by paying off the smaller bills in the order of which one we owed the least on and we will keep doing that until it provides us enough wiggle room to both meet our minimum payments on bills and save at the same time. We had to stop being stressed about having a savings and realize we can’t afford to save and won’t be able to until we get some debt paid off. It’s a tough reality in this uncertain world but so far we have paid off 6 medical bills, a loan, and 2 credit cards...without snowballing because we can’t afford that either or we will start getting late fees. Hope this makes sense and is helpful. Moral of the story, don’t go farther into debt while trying to save but be very disciplined in your budgeting until you pay off enough things to create the room to start saving
first figure out your monthly income by writing everything down that you pay each month. then go over the last 3-6 months of spending to see where your money is going. see where you can cut back. then build your budget based on that. pay the minimum on your debts. then whenever you have extra start an emergency fund. $1000.once you have that dont touch unless an emergency. then start paying off your loans either debt snowball or debt avalanche. which ever works better for you. have the minimum plus whatever extra. once you have one debt paid off put that payment plus the extra and add it to the minimum payment of the next. keep doing this until its all gone. then save 3-6 months of an emergency fund. Dave Ramsey explains it better. once you get there focus on beefing up any sinking funds.
Angelica Romero look up Dave Ramsey. And the debt snowball. You have to make a budget of the necessities. If you’re more than 50% of your annual income on car payments you need to sell cars if you’re over 25 to 35% of your income on housing then you need to find a place to move because you’re paying too much. You have to make a list of all your debts starting from The smallest to the biggest debt. Then you have to make sure you’re able to make at least the minimum payments on all your debts so you avoid interest but you have to put all your overtime money all your extra money into the smallest debt first and then work your way up to your biggest debt. Good luck.
Where do you put the amount you spend on paper and ink. And, if I may ask without seeming rude, what do you spend on paper and ink for the type of budget? I have always done a paycheck budget (not zeroed out every month), but my budget docs were on an excel spreadsheet.
Hi new subscriber here from the UK. I love your system but I’m a bit worried about having all that cash in the house (your sinking funds). Do you not worry about being burgled? I don’t think home content insurance in the UK would cover you for having such large amounts of cash in the house. Xx
Girl! Thas awesome I do the envelope system but somehow I end up in rutt. What do you do when unexpected situations happen? Like they lower hours? You miss work sick days? More days of than usual? LAY OFF? I'm thinking of adding emergency fund envelope. Thanks for sharing! #thinkmamaneedsraise
I hope you don't mind me answering. It is best to have an emergency fund (EF) for unseen events like job loss or late pay. It is suggested to build your EF with $1000 as soon as you can and then increase it to at least 3 months worth of living expenses. The ideal is having 6months to 1 year's worth of living expenses in your emergency fund. 😊
I'm a new watcher so I'm sorry if you've already answered the question, but is there any reason you continue to rent while you save for your house, rather than pay a mortgage? I would have thought the mortgage option would make better financial sense?
I just found your channel and subscribed. I can’t wait to start a cash envelope system. I think I will start in May... where did you get these nifty notebooks? Gonna have to dive into your videos! Thanks for existing
It's written on the top of her April Calendar. $10 cash envelope challenge. Every paycheck we are supposed to take $10 out of each cash envelope and add it to savings.
Sherri McIntyre I did see the $10 Cash on the page but I wasn’t sure if it was out of one or out of all and the details and I know she said she would explain it so I thought maybe I missed it. Thank you so much for explaining it to me. 👍🏻
Can you make a video of you actually filling out your sheets and setting up your budget for the month. How do you budget in the $500 from your boyfriend? Do you get that money before you get payed or after?
how would you integrate money from a sinking fund back into your budget like if you use money from your car maintenance SF? or do you just not track it?
I love the new version of your paycheck budget binder! 😊 If I were to download the new version does the teller slip come with it or is that a separate purchase?
When will the physical workbook be available? I’ve been hunting for a good budget workbook for years and this one looks absolutely perfect and I can’t wait to buy it
Emma Swanson she sold out of the physical workbooks earlier in the month. she does have a pdf version available on her website. also, she’ll be doing preorders in august for her next launch in october.
It's sold out but I believe she will release it again in a few months. It's undated so you can still use it for a full year. You can purchase the pdf and print it from her site if you want it right away.
Loving all the sinking funds envelope designs would it be possible to make those available to purchase; your videos have helped make my budget a reality ☺️
Hi! I've been following for a while. I was curious if you were struggling financially when you first started doing the zero based budget or if was mostly doing it to just pay off you debt? Great info you provide us with thank you!
My bill pay account has about 1800 and then when I get paid I never even touch that money unless a bill comes earlier than I expected. Is that a bad idea to have that much money in the checking account I pay bills with? I do a zero based budget on the income coming in. Like your buffer is 80, my buffer is 1800. That’s a huge difference.
She has had it over $1000 before and took it out. I believe either for her house savings or Disney trip savings but she does state she has it at $1000. I think you can have whatever buffer you are ok with, my opinion. I have $800 🤷🏻♀️
It's her own workbook. It's available on her shop thebudgetmom.com. it's available for digital download. The physical workbook that gets mailed to you is currently sold out.

@@thebudgetmom Awesome. Thanks for letting me know. That's a good idea as I have it as it's own budget line, yet it's with my car insurance provider :)
So organized & motivated. But can you help me for low income budget and must pay for daycare? My income every month is $1,000 and need to pay for daycare $200/ months. So I only have $800/month. My country is in Timor Leste. With this salary is a bit big to live in this country. I am hoping to hear from u, how to budget for a low income & saving.. thank u. Love Fatima
Wow how is your car insurance and medical insurance so cheap? I have shopped around but I have never gotten a quote for less than $350 per month for medical and $150 per month for auto insurance.
First thing you should do is pull your your bank statements for 3-6months. Grab a set of highlighters. Each highlighter represents a category. After you highlight your bank statements add up each category. Figure out the average amount your spending for each month for each category. This will give you a general idea of the amounts you need for your cash envelopes. Next focus on becoming current on all your bills. You cant pay debt or use cash envelopes if you are always in a deficit. Once you become current on all your bills make a list of your debts. From smallest to largest. Pay the minimum amounts on all your debts. The extra money that is left over after covering all your bills and expenses should be used to pay off your smallest debt first. After you become comfortable with budgeting and you have a $500.00 to $1000.00 emergency fund start implementing sinking funds. Continue to use the debt snowball to pay down your debt and try to stay current on your bills. Hope this helps.
I know this is a personal question, but I was wondering if you get any money from the father of your son and if you add that as your "business income" or you do not budget that at all.
I purchased your workbook but I’m unable to access it. I tried from my desktop but I’m not getting email notifications from you so I can continue to set up an account. Your shop took my money but no access. Do you know what is going on

How do I start budgeting when I am broke. I am living paycheck to paycheck. I don't know where to begin to track our spending

I purchased your workbook but I’m unable to access it. I tried from my desktop but I’m not getting email notifications from you so I can continue to set up an account. Your shop took my money but no access. Do you know what is going on
