- SOUTH PARK, LOS ANGELES, Dec. 20 (KNN) - A two-car collision late Thursday night caused a fire hydrant to be sheared off, sending water gushing into the street on the 5000 block of South Broadway in South Park, authorities said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene around 11:34 p.m. A white SUV had collided with a gray SUV, pushing the gray vehicle onto the curb and into the hydrant.
Firefighters attempted to shut off the hydrant but were unable to do so. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) was called to assist and successfully stopped the water flow at the main.
No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
