This method no longer works. Pressing the G icon will keep telling you to enable your internet. Even with internet on, you cannot activate that app anymore.
Did not work using the pc but using the usb to restore the app with g logo worked but netflix does not work I can't find it on the google play store. I rememberd that I uninstalled the app with the g logo before trying to install netflix is that the problem? And youtube doesn't work in 1440p maximum 1080p.

oh BTW what I want by adding this .edu account is just to use gmail app to sync email, but the gmail app can only sync my other regular gmail accounts now.

so wat i did was frm settings i removed google account and deleted youtubed vanced and downloaded again so after reopening youtube vanced app it worked after login in typin id n pass again.. i think this method wil work wit this too as there was some update by google services which effected RUclips vanced apps too

Questions: - no banking app should be not functioning because technically the device never gets rooted, right? - is there a possibility (or likelyhood) that some google updates can break this process and have losing part of my data or having me going through all of this again? - other than being aware about not adding new google accounts after the first setup stage in the guide is there anything else that differs from using any other android phone? - would the device support OTA software updates still? I imagine so and that also probably this should not impact GMS, but does anyone have experience with this and can confirm they received some P40 Pro updates after installing GMS and everything worked fine?
the Biggest issue is the OTA of Google services and apps installed from the store. will they all happen? seems like no one who uploads those kind of videos actually answer those questions. what is the point of having all that running but after a day nothing is functioning like a real play store. Updates, Signing in, Notifications.
@@14onyx not sure what you mean by OTA but I've had 3 system updates so far from Huawei. In regards to app updates in playstore just open the playstore once a week and install app updates simple. Notifications not working from apps or Gmail is indeed an issue but how big an issue is up to you. I'll be honest I spent way less time on my phone now. My phone is primarily used for Google maps which works, Gmail which I open as and when I need too. RUclips and Netflix both work, Banking apps all work. Battery life is amazing is amazing as a result. If you feel the need to be connected 24/7 avoid this phone. If you want to regain some kind of control over how you use your phone then nothing beats it.

I went through those steps 4 x and spent around 3 hours to get everything back from my previous P20Pro. If You can open Google Play and download something, that's enough for me. I disabled notifications from Google play services/framework/etc and I am fine with that. Google photos are syncing, contacts sync, Gmail removed, installed Outlook, Maps work fine, just one notification after each opening, The only thing missing My Bank - I cant enable contactless payments with phone.
Push notifications for any app (e.g. Twitter, Gmail) uses Google messaging push notifications engine (Firebase) will remain the biggest issue. As Google is blacklisting any GSF ID simulation to connect to this service. So no solution for this and it sucks.

Excellent tutorial...! Mate 30 pro recently bought... The only thing I want to add is that I got stuck at google login (error contacting google servers...). I uninstalled Google Account manager included nad installed version 4.4.4 from apkmirror, after clearing data and cache of the original. I then pressed the 3 dots in the upper left corner when prompted to add google account and continued as shown on video. Zero trouble and notification errors!!! Thank you Techmagnet David!!

P40 Pro - simply does not work. Followed the instructions carefully step by step, first hiccup was the Google Account Manager (would not sign in at all). After I tried GAK 4.2.2 I was able to sign in via browser and proceed. After step 7 - on the Step 8 (Check if playstor is Alive), the Playstore would just crash (open white and close).... Tried it a million times, nothing. Then I reinstalled the playstore and it opens (does not crash), but just shows a white window and nothing happens.... Tried everything from scrach a couple of times, but the result is the same, so the tutorial is pretty much not working here... One hint - the GSF number never shows up in the DEVICE ID app....
I realised I am so dependent on Google services (unlimited photo backup with Google Suite), RUclips Premium and Google pay etc.. I'm not sure how I can reliably use Huawei phones like this.

The problem with all this is that the G app (LZ Play) is old and out of date now. It's a miracle it still works at all on any model, but it won't for much longer unless it's updated. it certainly didn't work on my phone.

One thing i noticed is that if i used TwinApps, for example, a 2nd copy of WhatsApp, the annoying notifications come back lol, once the TwinApp is turned off, they go away, I guess it's because TwinApp creates a duplicate of the GMS stock apps right ?

Could you check that it's still possible. I have a feeling the latest Google Services update has stopped it. I've tried following every step three times. I get to the point where i installed 008-GMS Core Mod B and as soon as I do, Google Play Store will not work. I just get an error and even if I try anyway, I still get loads of error messages...
I completed all the step and It seemed to work until I found my google voice can't sign in. I tried to repeat to install app 1-5 but I could no more finish install app 3 and 4. it dept telling me there were already app installed with newer version although I uninstalled everything with "google" in the name.

You seems to be a guy that knows alot about the P40 pro. Have you tried the "moreapps" app? Can i download Facebook, youtube, spotify and messenger from there and there will be no problems using them? I contacted Huawei and the told me this but i'm not sure..

Tried it a million times, nothing. Then I reinstalled the playstore and it opens (does not crash), but just shows a white window and nothing happens.... Tried everything from scrach a couple of times, but the result is the same, so the tutorial is pretty much not working here... One hint - the GSF number never shows up in the DEVICE ID app....
Finaly it works on a Matepad pro.
Actualy you've got to make sure that you close al the aps that are active in the background.

I realised I am so dependent on Google services (unlimited photo backup with Google Suite), RUclips Premium and Google pay etc.. I'm not sure how I can reliably use Huawei phones like this.

So no luck with many apps as for me 2 aren't working or not recognized by the system(Duo and NatWest). So if anyone installed or made them work plz drop a link as verification confirmation message cannot be read/sent or recognized by these apps at all. Thanks
The problem with all this is that the G app (LZ Play) is old and out of date now. It's a miracle it still works at all on any model, but it won't for much longer unless it's updated. it certainly didn't work on my phone.

What a load of rubbish followed every step until we get to signing in existing Google accounts and then the message 'Couldn't sign in' Tried these steps several times on the P40 Pro what a waste of time.....................

@TechMagnet First of all, thank you so much for the nice video, worked like a charm on my P40 Pro. One thing i noticed is that if i used TwinApps, for example, a 2nd copy of WhatsApp, the annoying notifications come back lol, once the TwinApp is turned off, they go away, I guess it's because TwinApp creates a duplicate of the GMS stock apps right ?
So what can we do? For cloning what'sapp with factory clone-er?......

Could you check that it's still possible. I have a feeling the latest Google Services update has stopped it. I've tried following every step three times. I get to the point where i installed 008-GMS Core Mod B and as soon as I do, Google Play Store will not work. I just get an error and even if I try anyway, I still get loads of error messages...

I completed all the step and It seemed to work until I found my google voice can't sign in. I tried to repeat to install app 1-5 but I could no more finish install app 3 and 4. it dept telling me there were already app installed with newer version although I uninstalled everything with "google" in the name.

You seems to be a guy that knows alot about the P40 pro. Have you tried the "moreapps" app? Can i download Facebook, youtube, spotify and messenger from there and there will be no problems using them? I contacted Huawei and the told me this but i'm not sure..
