The fact Robosen was able to take the techno-magic they had in their original Optimus Prime and shrink it down into a small package is just amazing. I was fortunate enough to get the original at the smaller price so I'm good. The big question is if they will release a smaller trailer for the second version. As a G1 fan, I say get the one you can get because either way it is a win and you are owning an incredible piece of Transformers history. BTW a Robosen Soundwave would be amazing! You killed it again Bridget! Thank you.

It's not actually cheaper tho. When the original was released, if memory serves me correctly, it was around $700-$800. So all they did was raise the price of the bigger one and give you the smaller one for the original's release price.

I remember my dad taking my brother and I to Toys R Us when the original Optimus Prime and Megatron were released. They were $30 bucks each, while most other transformers cost $20. Optimus Prime came with the trailer too. I got Optimus, my brother got MegaTron. We had battles for days, such good times! These versions of Optimus take things to another level. I think I like the smaller one more, it reminds me more of the version I had when I was a kid. This is bringing back so many awesome memories.
No, the Elite doesn't have the downloadable content like the Flagship. It's not as good.

I'm really impressed at how far technology has come between the original Optimus Prime toy from 1984 and this. I agree that a Decepticon should be next. Maybe they manufacturer can pull off Megatron ... although they'd have to make him transform into a tank instead of a Walther P-38 for legal reasons.

I saw someone selling the original movie props one selling for $300 for a two pack. The two lead toys. Major Chiphazard and Leader of Gorgonites Archer. They are not robots but they do have sound and Archer can fire hus arrows. Still pretty impressive for those times.

They certainly need to create a decepticon, so they would be able to battle each other in an epic match on your table. Still, Megatron in his original 80s appearance would be problematic because he was a gun, not a vehicle.
Yep, they just need to make him transform into a tank. Many Megatron toys do this.

If robosen makes a Megatron use his cybertron jet mode from the Transformers Prime cartoon, frank Welker voice him best of both worlds. His G2 green tank was ok but the jet prime 1.
Just in time for Christmas. It's brilliant, my god. So cool. It's funny because I clicked because the title reminded me of the news stories about the original toy from the eighties. For some reason they had a news story about Optimus Prime being the biggest Christmas toy but not being able to stand up on his own. For some reason the news agencies had people convinced this was somehow significant. I never put it down, hahaha. Also, I seem to remember being able to stand him up too. Semi trucks with sports cars rolling out of the trailer on the freeway where a very popular theme in the early to mid eighties.
Imagine if Robosen actually made a Megatron that is also a real gun...

Me, a mother of a son who was so obsessed with Transformers, when he was 4 years old.
I saw this CNET presentation and “loved” the EXCITEMENT she showed. She was as excited as I was, so I bought it for my son. It was sold out. But I finally got one by Christmas 2021. It was the most exciting gift ever !!!!
Robosen should definitely make a Bumblebee! You can’t have a Optimus Prime without a Bumblebee!

Soundwave or Starscream would be awesome. Even if they couldn't put a mini cassette in Soundwave put a decent bluetooth speaker to play music.

I saw the first film at the theater. I was SHOCKED at how real those things looked!! Every single detail like sun reflections etc. was perfect! The frosting on the cake was the STUNNING beauty of Megan Fox.

Being a die hard Transformers fan I just saw this video at 1:30 AM & I bought the set at the Hasbro site 1:45 AM.
Also, a Mojor deciding factor was the presentation by Bridget, "Great Job".
Even the way the app plays the original music in the background is great.
How awesome would it be if they made an Alexa Soundwave or a remote control Grimlock that get the mail!!!!

I love the robot but the problem with all products like this is that if they stop updating the app then most of the functionality is lost. I have an R2D2 from Hasbro that is basically a paper weight after they refused to update the app after an Android update broke it - this is on a product just 2 years old!
You need an old phone and keep it I updated than I guess.

I think the fact that they're programmable makes them a _lot_ more fun than just as toys. At the very least, could probably have an entire popular TikTok channel as a dancing Optimus where you program him to do various trending TikTok dances in various locales. But it would be, like a full-time job.

More than the weapons I wish his smokestacks were magnetic or easily detachable. The damn things are so flimsy and it is so hard to put them on. I broke one of mine. Now waiting to see if they will send me a replacement.

Way back when I 1st ordered him I talked to one of the guys at Robosen about doing a soundwave . I also told him that it's a bad idea to do any other Transformers that in G1 sense most of the people that are going to buy this are going to be adults. He told me a few things about what they're going to do. So I'll keep that a secret like I promise. But I told him that he should do soundwave with a LCD screen in Front where you can purchase episodes from all the Transformers series and watch them right on him. also make him an mp 4 player. I'll be doing a video on him soon . I just did the war for cybertron unicron.
