At this symposium, we seek to gather scholars, intellectuals, corporate interest groups, artists, and activists to join us to examine the impact of Eric Williams and his work on the contemporary Caribbean and wider world. This symposium will also provide an opportunity to discuss his legacy with the next generation of leaders and intellectuals.
Such commemorative activities are taking place all over the world. Symposiums will be held in Britain and the United States. We are adding the Caribbean’s voice through this symposium at the UWI.
Eric Williams gave us free education and health care. He cared about us, the public. He taught us to reach for the sky, that we could accomplish anything we put our minds to.....he gave us confidence by the education, he allowed each and every person of Trinidad & Tobago. Calypsonians could have sung about any politicians including him. We were free people to say and do. He never felt threatened by the calypsoes. He was such a sophisticated and classy leader. He stood up to governments of countries which seemed to have wanted to control him and his government for the sale of their goods in Trinidad. He respected the people of Trinidad and Tobago. I loved and respected him always. As far as I am concerned, there has never been another leader in T&T like him. I am so happy to see Erica is involved in prolonging his legacy. Thank you Erica!
So overwhelming to hear Dr. Eric William’s daughter talk so proudly of her father. I loved him so very much even today. I was only a few months old when he started he political career. Grew up listening to his talks and always trying to imitate saying “the people of Trinidad and Tobago “. Happy to see his daughter Mrs. Erica William too. How we need a leader like him once again.
What is overwhelming she's a dog face lying pony soldier, Artists Used Lies To Tell The Truth While Politicians Used Them To Cover The Truth Up." ...
He was a socialists Democrat he single handedly destroyed our democracy under the PNM.
how nice to see Erica...what a great tribute to her Dad...x
I was very fortunate to have met her some years ago and I was very impressed by her and the love and respect she had for her father you are a lovely person
I was six years' old when Dr Eric Williams became Prime Minister. I remember when he came on TTT air in April 1970, to announce that the country was in lockdown, and rioting and looting was rampant. I was fifteen years' old at the time, and I was sent home sick from school, that morning. He stayed on air that afternoon, constantly giving updates. I read his book, CAPITALISM AND SLAVERY, as an adult. I admired his academic and political achievements.
Dr Eric Williams The Legend was a great leader. A fabulous tribute to her Dad.🙏🙏
WE WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER HONEST LEADER LIKE DR. ERIC WILLIAMS.
never say never...
Honest 😆
What honest leader a dammm crook
Dr Eric Williams will always be remembered .
R I p
.the greatest
My one and only Prime Minister the Hoareble Dr Eric Williams. ❤
Appreciate this work and the committment to archiving the papers and artefacts of an era. Thank you.
Growing up in TnT, I have great memories of Dr. Williams. I went to high school near my once rural village and obtained my high school diploma and all GCE and CXC passes. I remembered, people would say he built schools all over the country. Thank you Dr. Williams, RIP.
Only Eric could have done it for the good of country. Very impressive lecture.
This is an awesome and very edifying speech. Thank you Mrs William Cornell.
Dr. Eric williams is so great nothing can compare to the leadership is showed.
SAY NO MOORE HE IS JEST WONDERFUL EVEN NOW HE LIVES IN THE HEART OF EVERY TRUE TRINIDADIAN,O HOW GREAT TO HAVE HIM
Erica Williams has done an outstanding job upholding the legacy of Dr. Eric Williams - one of the best Prime Ministers and scholars of any race or creed. Dr. Williams educated a generation and was a man whose contributions to leadership uplifted the West Indies. He did not steal the nation's money, sell passports, or plunder the treasury as is so rampant in some of our islands today. His books should be recommended reading for all West Indians or any scholar desirous of learning about the history of the Caribbean region. May God bless his legacy and grant Erica Williams a long life to continue promoting her noble father. We shall remember him.
Erica we need more videos of Dr. Williams speaking
He studied pragmatic socialism today Trinidad is a dumpster nothing gained only for the rich and political pranksters ok.
@@crazyhandshands9028 Well that is what his daughter said, to learn from his mistakes which he indeed made. He alone did not contribute to Independence or Republican status but he was the main person who brought the people together as a nation in the 50's. He did have an arrogance which was unfair to many along with not doing enough to crack down on corruption. He possibly believed that an educated people would know better and being both educated and patriotic would cause citizens to do the right thing. He should of done more especially when it came to law and order. Socialism has nothing to do with it by the way. Being capitalist was unattractive and unwanted by many of post colonial nations. Socialism or communism were more inline with the anti-imperial and anti-colonial stance of the day.
@@Mega123hello when was the last time you been to Cuba???
@@Mega123hello 28 million who needs to work of go to school😂😂😂😂
@@Mega123hello Trinidadians need to stop relying on Governments and start doing things for themselves. You depend on man you get nowhere you depend on God you prosper.
He was a great Father to Trinidad and Tobago. A man after God's Heart. May the people of Trinidad and Tobago take a leaf from his life. Amen!
My favorite quote, “Until the Lion has a historian, tales of the hunt will continue to be about the hunter”.
What a gem! Here’s hoping every Trini find and share this informed speech.
Dr Eric Eustace Williams was simply the best Prime Minister Trinidad and Tobago will ever have no one can stand in his shoes period simply the best
Can u state some facts ???
He ruined the island
Erica so nice seeing you thank to your father Dr Williams he was a intelligence man
Erica, looking as beautiful as ever! Ever eloquent and honest! Thank you for your consistency and bravery in putting Trinidad and Tobago forward as often and astutely as ever!👌🏾❤️🇹🇹❤️🇹🇹🌺
Hey,hey...you took my words right out of my mind...ever heard of telepathic plagiarism? (Is there such a thing?)
DR ERIC WILLIAMS was the type of person when he open his mouth to speak ,he attracts the listening ear of everyone.he was truly FATHER OF THE NATION ,AND ALL HE DID WAS TO SHOW HOW MUCH HE CARED FOR HIS PEOPLE.
Dr William's was a brilliant man an exceptional Leader
Nonsense he was a socialist..Disadvantages of socialism include slow economic growth, less entrepreneurial opportunity and competition, and a potential lack of motivation by individuals due to lesser rewards. Trinidad got the same sidewalks concrete drains an airport that leaks and rebuild the Red House so a president can live in give me a break.
The police lives in dog kennels your hospitals built with Chinese money , and Charlotte street once owned by blacks is now owned by chinese and syrians ..
@@crazyhandshands9028 Clearly you have ZERO affiliation with Trinidad and Tobago , in an ethnic or hereditary sense. So, why do you care about an island the size of a small U.S. state? Now, I understand that based on many of the policies of Dr. Eric Williams and his political party in the realm of higher education; Trinidad and Tobago now boasts a 99.6% literary rate. They have been energy independent for 100 years as a direct result of those decisions. Their crime rate per capita is almost nonexistent as well. I don’t see that as a bad thing; on an island of 1.5 million people. I also understand that, for intellectually challenged individuals, belief in the cliche, or the stereotype is much easier than reading book. Associating Dr Eric Williams with socialism is a joke, and a bad one at that. It’s almost like you don’t know what was happening in the world at the time when this country gained it’s independence from the United Kingdom. If you don’t know that’s a shame, and a failure on your educators for not teaching you world history. If you do know, then that makes you disingenuous , in relation to every post that you’ve made; and you should be ignored. As far as his net worth is concerned; remember, he wrote a book. That book is part of every African studies course in most Universities in the U.S., the United Kingdom and most of Europe. It has been printed in several different languages. You may hate him, or dark skinned humans in general; but that doesn’t change how much he contributed to that country and it’s people. Her Majesty the Queen loved him, and the people of Trinidad and Tobago loved him enough to vote for him every election. He is part of Trinidadian history and during his tenure as prime minister there wasn’t a violent coup, or racial violence, or a military junta, or an insurgence. So, take that!

Mrs. Erica Williams Connell, all I can say is simply this, you never know a good thing until thing until it is gone. I am not trying to be funny, nor am I trying to be insulting because I do respect you & your father as well as your late mother. You understand now what you lost (and what you would have had). But when you look back now you not only got what you wanted you actually have more than that!!!! I haven't read any of your father's works (yet, will do in the future).... I guess what I am trying to say is you not only have his writings, speeches etc.... You have a legacy to protect. 😎
Love you girl...just as articulate as your dad...
Her net worth is 20 million and never worked one day in her LIFE i wonder who wrote that certainly not her .For someone who quit school and never went to university actually wrote this no way ,because you were afraid of him .

She lived a life of privilege, American boys and fast cars and being chauffeured around like royalty............
He was the best!
Eric Williams didn't fought for anyone or anything in T&T. In fact, When he pass away, he left whole our country in depression, and economy crisis.
She would make a fantastic prime minister
And rob the treasury similar to what her dad did......and gave it to her? She is well trained.
Eric Williams collected over 800+ billion US what did he do with that money she has answers we need I'M NOT IMPRESSED.

She has a money tree leaden like a certain opposition party
She failed miserably because she never continued her education .
What do you consider an education? She speaks well and is highly intelligent. That is an education as well. Not everyone has to pursue tertiary education to be considered successful and educated. Your statement makes absolutely no sense.
