What Did I Find INSIDE my Rare Plant?

  • GROW FASTER NOW 🤡
I promise I’m not always this rough with the roots but once I started to remove the plug there was no turning back. Now you can 100% leave the plug if you want! This specific plug contains micronutrients to develop the roots. For me, I prefer a much chunkier substrate.
As for propagating corms, I’m using Solum from @modernaqua - it’s natural soil blended with volcanic ash - typically used in aquariums but works so well with corms (🔗 is on my 📄).
My dream is to have a field of variegated frydeks. What’s one plant you can never have enough of 🙃

For my variegated frydeks, they don’t like high humidity once the leaves form 😅 I’ve removed it from it’s humidity dome and just let it sit on top of my desk that is located at my east-facing window and it’s doing quite well. I live in east Texas and I wouldn’t consider where I live as having much humidity at all.

I’m really curious what you do or use to achieve the high humidity in your IKEA plant cabinet. Do you use a humidifier or something else? I can never get humidity higher than 45% in mine! Although, I have fewer plants in mine than you do. Help! 😅

    • @ohtheplacesyoullgrow

I’m not always this severe when repotting. I don’t feel the need to completely clean the roots of the old soil (unless the existing substrate is bad). This plant could have just stayed in its plug but I personally don’t like plugs because the moisture level in the plug is not the same as the moisture in the surrounding soil.

I just got my first varigated Frydek two weeks ago. I can't wait to find random corns to propagate. I found a few attached to the main stem but I was too nervous to pry them off when I moved it to pon. I heard that not every corm will be variegated. Do you know if that's true?
