i know this is a very late response, but at the top left - hover over the little smiley icon thing, and then click the pencil icon, should show your bookmarks

If you go to the sidebar and click edit on the welcome one there should be bookmarks underneath general. Click chrome bookmark manager then add whichever bookmarks you'd like

That probably wasn't their actual desktop, maybe just an image. But you can edit your background on canva (as an example) and set it as that.

go to the welcome button then press the pencil icon then go to bookmarks. Then press new tab and there. I hope that help I'm not very good with explaining but I hope that helps.
