      Kudos for the Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Riddleagan Smart Hands Remedy (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing exclusive product for learning piano fast without the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my best friend Jordan at very last got amazing success with it.

    Thank you for this video. My dad recently passed. When you mentioned Koinonia, my heart got warm, and as you wonderfully performed "Heaven," you brought back so many memories, listening to music together, hearing him practicing bass and guitar, going to Christian conventions in Rimini, Milano... a great time of my life, and an amazing impact. Thank you again! God bless.

    This is funny, I've just watched this but I've been working for a while on lydian voicings with my teacher on "Well You Needn't" by Thelonious Monk, which looks a lot like the chromatic exercise you're showing here. I can confirm what you're saying, my hands pull out lydian voicings on dominant 7th (*7#5#9 or *7add9add13) basically anywhere without even giving it a thought. I'm keeping this video for reference.

      Yes, a lot of jazz students skips practicing chords. To practice chords is extremely beneficial for everything (almost) you do when playing jazz piano.

    Hi..I have a question .At times in a lead sheet just the basic 4 note is mentioned. At times the chromatic extensions are specifically written down. I suppose if the basic chord is mentioned we haven't a choice to add extensions ? And when written down its compulsory to play ?

    • @Gjermund-Sivertsen
      @Gjermund-Sivertsen  3 года назад +1

      Hello. It depends if you’re playing together with other chord-instruments (or combos like big bands, etc) where the music is arranged.
      If not, then you’re free to play any kind of extention to the chords, if you can make it fit with the music that you’re playing.

    This is the best channel for learning jazz piano. And also your music is extremely good, I'd love to listen to more of your work, do you have any links? I love your video THE BAH BROTHERS - OUT THERE it's great inspiration for making music! can you recommend any artist/s that sound like your music? kind of jazz/progressive/70's80's-European/jazztronic/eclectic...

      Hello, and thanks for your kind comment. Most of my work is based around teaching and you find it here on RUclips and at our website: PopJazzOnline.com. Thanks for the comment about BAH BROS. We're currently working on another tune that will be released soon. I recommend Herbie Hancock from the 70-80s. A huge inspiration for me.

    I get why we should practice these chords over the Circle of 5ths and Chromatic scale. But why the two whole tones scales instead of the major scale?

    • @SolarMumuns
      @SolarMumuns 2 года назад

      So that you are playing in all keys as the two whole-tones cover every key, the major scale doesn't.
