- In this video I test a Makita, Dewalt and Hilti using a giant 2" auger bit. I have a few close calls, but end up succesfully drilling through with all 3 drills!
Everyone pushes to hard on these drills. I think without pushing and let the drill eat through the wood would work much better.
It was an extreme test with 2” bit. Was just trying to hang on without injury. There was no pushing. But I understand your comment. Let the bit do the work!
Okay I'm not going to be that guy I'm not pulling for any brand but. When you put the Makita in gear 2 it's 2100 rpm DeWalt gear 2 is 1300 rpm gear 3 is 2000 which is the same as Makita in gear 2 so dropping DeWalt to gear 2 is a more torque gear 800 rpm lower gear than Makita lxt xph 14 now the 996 is less powerful than the 998-999 power detect and flex volt advantage. The 10 on the hilti means most powerful there's a new 10 an 8 a 6 and a 4 so even brushed it was hilti's most powerful drill mad until 2023. But batteries also matter the more amps a battery can put out the better the proformance not just run time. So that dewalt should have been in gear 3 for the first try. To match the rpm of the Makita. And there is no internal clutch in drill setting!!! The only way to use the clutch is to put the drill in the drive mode and set the clutch to the highest setting to activate the clutch. And I agree the 996 auxiliary handle is horrible glad they made it longer for the 998-999
