  • Kimbe Bay in Papua New Guinea's West New Britain Province has the second most coral reef species in the world. Unfortunately, this remarkable biodiversity is under increasing threat from industrial pollution, climate change and unsustainable management of local marine resources. Through its 'Gutpela Solwara, Gutpela Bisnis' programme, UNDP wants to preserve Kimbe Bay's marine biodiversity by supporting the work of micro-, small-, and medium-sized blue enterprises, all of which are led by local women. One of the businesses supported by the programme is Kukuni Na Dari. Founded by Agartha Buku, the business seeks to preserve Kimbe Bay's coral reefs and provide livelihood opportunities for local woman and youth through seaweed farming. Learn more about Agartha's work from this video!
