T nation said if you don’t want to lose muscle doing cardio either walk a lot (low intensity “cardio”) or do a form of HIIT where you go all out for a minute with 4 minutes rest in between. Basically double what you say. Double exertion time double the rest. So what you suggest here is probably more doable. It’s very difficult to go 100% a full minute.

Not to contradict the pro, but I feel there are few small but very important details being left out. Basic biochemistry: before your liver metabolizes a single ketone, it needs to be completely emptied from any glycogen. Otherwise it will just metabolize glucose and release it into a blood stream and that will trigger.... drumrolls... insulin! It's great for you muscles, since, you know, instant fuel. But remember cardio is 3/4 oxygen burn. So I wish it was as simple as "HIIT". But it's not. If you want to loose fat, make sure there is no glycogen in your liver. Simplest way is stop eating for 3 days before embarking on any cardio. If you can't, just go on keto until you smell like acetone, and then do cardio. And even then, don't go to the point where you are all winded. Walking fast is much better vs running slow if you want to get rid of fat. Enjoy!

the elipticals at my gym are heavily digitized and have several special workouts pre-programmed, one of it is called "Sprint 8" Which is a 20 min long workout that alternates between 1:30min of low resistance relaxed cardio and 30 secs heavy resistance sprinting, that fucking burns like hell, this is now my "cooldown" exercise after my workout while dieting, and in bulking it will probably be my off-day workout

Rowing is the best cardio. It uses the most amount of muscles legs, arms, back, abdominal core, is low impact

The only cardio I do is hunt for the biggest hills I can find and run full on Usain Bolt sprints up that hill until I come close to puking. Light jog down the hill, 15-30 second rest, and back up that hill like a pack of rabid wolves are chasing you. Good luck.

A 1 lb jump rope can be an effective tool to use for both cardio and strength training. Also a great way to stay lean and get nice calves/ legs
