Been a fan of victory for a while now and I enjoy watching your crew as well, concrete work is a fascinating process. I saw you're in Michigan as well! (born and raised in metro Detroit) Keep up the good work (and your wife is a legend, she could out work anyone from the looks of it)
Hey man…don’t you know that Victory has everyone on YT a professional concrete contractor now. Half these guys commenting about rebar and gravel wouldn’t even know the first thing unless they watched Ryan’s videos. It’s obvious after watching a few of your videos, you have a successful company. I think you know what you are doing.
EZ trowel. I get it at my local concrete supply yard but I’m sure you can order it. From what I’ve read it is an equivalent. I don’t use Day 1 after I found this so I can’t speak to how close they are
Another great job. Two small pours is better than no pours. Your wife is a go-getter, I’m sure she enjoys helping you and you enjoy having her there. What size is the biggest job you have scheduled for this season? Thanks for sharing the video and work. 🤙
Fibermesh brother, 1’ of compacted screened fill sand and if you watched the video I doweled into the existing driveway with #4 rebar, with expansion joint along the house. You should never tie into the house with a floating slab.
Looks like you do your best to give a good job for the money being spent. A good base is very important and if your dealing with non expansive soil and add a thin layer of small aggregate with proper moisture content for proper compaction... there seemed to be very little deflection with that loaded mud buggy on the base material. For these two jobs fiber and a full 4 inches of concrete is fine... many contractors will just tie rebar and pull it up as they pour. Faster but not better. At least with fiber you know it's not too low or too high in the slab. Redi-mix companies have always tried to send thier rookies to the best teachers. Tough at times, try and take it as a compliment. And yes Kyle the dispatcher will try and take care of you. And Yes you are a very fortunate man!😂
I'm from Ann Arbor and remember you and your brother on jobs with your dad. The job was on Packard road.A really tough pour.. slope away from 3 fixed spots in about 20' sq feet. The general contractor was Mike Rogers.Im impressed but not surprised that you are keeping up with quality work in Washtenaw County. I work with your uncle Frank Mayfield and he can't day enough good things about you. Keep up the food work and good teaching to your crew
Good work. I have no idea why that first truck decided to pour out more concrete despite the pile of extra concrete clearly sitting on that tarp out front 🤔 but nonetheless, it's good to see quality in real time.
Nope, Day One or EZ Trowel is an evaporation retardant. It puts a layer on top when you float it in to slow down the surface from drying out. It makes it easier to work with, gives you more time, and stronger product because the surface cures slower. Only downside I’ve found is the extra cost of buying it. Well worth it for a small company or tricky project
I’m sure you watch Ryan’s videos. There’s more than one way to skin a cat. This guy uses a different method of prepping his stuff different mix of concrete. If rathburn did shitty work the business would be done in a few years and looks like they’ve been going since the 90s so must be quality work.
You guys are funny. I obviously provide my clients with a good product that meets their budget. If it has an issue I come and replace it. 4.5” 5,000psi concrete with fiber-mesh reinforcement on 1’ of compacted sand, early entry saw cuts and wet cured 7 days is a damn good driveway. Rebar only matters if it cracks and tries to separate. Should be good for at least 25 years
Sand is a great base as well. And we put fiber-mesh in everything. Rebar is overkill for a driveway like this. Obviously it would be better but everyone has a budget and typically they opt out
No gravel ,, rods , wire mesh ,rebar your forms look like a squiggly line I mean I can see you doing small jobs with the crew you have ! But it makes it just easy to have 5 guys so your not killing your self but the no reinforcement or no base is stupid cob job

I have trouble believing that the concrete company sends you new drivers intentionally. Extra concrete is part of the job, and what the driver did was a mistake. The drivers have to learn. It takes time. Were you born with your concrete skills? Probably not. All skills are learned. Give him time. To complain about a new guy that much is not cool.
After seeing the guy on his phone, I'd probably be up the wall, too. That shows a bit of an unwillingness to learn. If you would've mentioned that in the video, I wouldn't have commented. God bless. Keep up the good work!

Thank you!
Your wife is a "worker bee" She is always looking for things to be attended to. You make a great pare!
Really nice work by the whole crew!
I’m impressed mate, using a proper handled screed. Results… flat concrete, no unnecessary touching of concrete with hands, minimal bull float. 👌🏻👍

Well done mate, great channel to watch...........fan from Australia ..:)
Nice job, I do not miss the stress of jobs like that.
Good jab men
Thanks!
What’s the name of that finishing aid and where can I get it? Also is it as good as Day1? Thanks.

Great work 😊
Good video and neat work hard working team
Thanks!
Great work ,all the best from Australia 😊
Thanks Peter!
10 stars for the wife...
What's the name of that Groover you're using
Not sure the sticker is worn off. It’s from Cadillac concrete tools

Thanks for sharing the video and work.

Thanks man! We have a 40 yard pour mid summer and hopefully a larger commercial job in the fall that will be a couple hundred.
Great job 👏
Why are you not putting down reebar?
I am no expert by far but, no rebar or even wire mesh, not tying into the house or existing slabs and you're pouring on top of dirt. Am I wrong ??
Fibermesh brother, 1’ of compacted screened fill sand and if you watched the video I doweled into the existing driveway with #4 rebar, with expansion joint along the house. You should never tie into the house with a floating slab.
You've been watching Ryan's channel for too long. There's more than one method for doing things.

Give that redi mix driver a 5 gallon bucket and tell him to put it back in his truck he will learn then
New sub great video
Thanks brother!
Nice job

Genuine question why no rock or steal
Is day 1 just slang for concrete curing agent ? I'm just curious ?

Any reason for not using rebar?

No rebar ... Ahhhhh yeah it'll be good for a year or sooo. Hey whatever FLOATS YOUR BOAT ⛵😊

That high early is no joke got to work quick
Мы бы сработались, если б была такая возможность!!!
We would have worked together if we had the opportunity!!!
💪🏾💪🏾
I am wondering why no rebar and gravel I would be afraid of that

@@RathburnContractingmost of these clowns come from Victory's channel and think his is the only method for doing concrete.
Can't believe you don't lay gravel before the concrete and no wire mesh or rebar? That's like lawsuit after lawsuit in a few years right?
would have made that driver put that concrete back in the truck up top
If it wasnt for the Dayone you would have been screwed !!
That’s why I always bring it!
Agreed, that wasn't a mistake, that's called no common sense.
no gravel LMAO

You’re right, but that wasn’t the only thing. He was on his phone the whole time and my guys had to lean in the truck to get him to fill the buggy.

Hmmmmm no mesh,no rebar, dirt as a base????This way you can do it again next year???
Terrible job not watching this channel anymore
Why waste your time and comment then?
See ya, brother!
