It is that we are never so defenseless against suffering as when we love, never so helplessly unhappy as when we have lost our loved object or its love.

This is great. Something I don't like about other classroom management videos, is that their often unempathetic. There was one video I watched where she recommended to chastise a student if they're struggling. So, if someone struggling after worksheet you should tell them that they're an awful person and that they're never going to succeed. That was a real video I watched.
When I was a high schooler, that was what a lot of my teachers followed. I came out of high school with a lot more mental issues than I came in, because it was the standard to tell me that I would not make it in life. The only lessons I remember was the ones where there was some sort of game attached to it. That I could forget that the next class would just go on and on teaching me about how I'm going to fail. I can see that with the games that you're doing. These insults are not meant to be targeted, it's just part of the game. It's not serious. You're teaching about how insults work, without saying that you should insult. I think that's a great way to teach the subject. Especially because the only things that I remember about what I was taught in high school, we're games like this one. So I really appreciate this video.

Most RUclips videos on classroom management use a PBIS framework, so that's unusual 😮

@@Heyu7her3 I will say I am currently taking a class on classroom management. and the advice that I'm getting in there is much different than the RUclips videos I've seen.
something that scares me is that my fellow classmates if it wasn't illegal would have hit their students. the good news is that this class is trying to teach you should not hit students.but the fact that they're already storing their concerns me.
I know I'm in the minority though. it's not just my classroom magic glass I've heard that. it's everywhere which includes this comment section, and could include you. the reason I bring this up is to say we might have a different framework on what is considered right and wrong when it comes to treating a student. i lean way more on the empathetic side then what it appears to be other people. if I was a teacher, I would never lay my hands on a student no matter what. after all, if I'm trying to teach them what their treatment is going to be in real life, a adult hitting another adult would be assault. so why should I teach them that assault is okay by hitting them?
what I am trying to say with that Prelude is this. I'm going to try to find the exact videos I watched that gave me the impression that classroom management was about fear rather than teaching behaviors. I'm going to have to make some possibly controversials takes, such as the one above , to try to make a moral and teaching argument. it requires that you see the kids as a person just as much as you are. it requires you to see them as an adult hitting another adult. because if we hit our kids, we are sending the message that adults are allowed to hit others. it would also be morally unjustifiable, as the only reason why it's not considered assault is because said people are smaller than us. that is a moral and teaching argument. if you're okay with that I will try to find those videos

@@Heyu7her3 "how to respond when a student disrespects you" by feed the needs is one of the videos I watched that gave me a negative look on classroom management
the problem that I have with this method is that she is suggesting that you apply a negative attribute towards a student. a insult. "YOU are being DISRESPECTFUL, YOU need to WATCH YOUR TONE". even though you can't tell my actual tone when saying this, as you can only tell so much via text. you can tell that already this is a hostile approach of the student. try to put yourself in the stews of the student. you did not know what you're doing wrong, but then the teacher comes up to you and yells "you're being disrespectful! Watch your attitude!" Not only would you not know what you have done wrong. wouldn't you feel a little bit attacked by the sudden hostility that you're getting from the teacher? this is even pointed out within the video itself, that some students are going to yell back at you. but instead of providing any way to deescalate the situation, you just continue on adding those bad attributes, not even explaining what the behavior was considered disrespectful.
Meanwhile, well the teacher is "redirecting" by starting an argument with the student. That is less time being focused on the material. because I can remember my high school experience, this is a very ineffective way to handle classroom management. especially, because a lot of my teachers took it one step further and said that we all deserve to die in a hole, which is even worse than approaching the student hostility.
I will say as it stands right now, none of what is being taught in my classroom management class says to use this technique. so that's a good sign.
