My first visit to Stuttgart was Saturday 2nd August 1997. At the time, the only S Bahn trains were ET 420's. My following visit was 7th/8th September 2000, and by then, the Stuttgart S Bahn had introduced the earliest of the ET 423's, supplementing them with the so-called 420+, basically refurbished ET 420s, adding pre-recorded station announcements.
Recently the ET 430s have been introduced, though I do not know if all the 420s were withdrawn.
Of the 423/430 systems, I think only Munich had done away with its 1st class compartment. Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Cologne seem to have retained them.

Cool shot in the tunnel @ 7:55 and of all the doors @14:48. These "Schiebetritte" (sliding step thing - don't know what the English term is) have I reckon cost Stuttgart millions in lost productivity as you now have to wait about 6 seconds to get out of the train. You see people repeatedly jabbing at the button desperately trying to escape.

Oh my goodness 12 cars isn't that a bit too much lol?
In Hamburg we have 9 train cars despite Hamburg having more than double the amount of population Stuttgart has😭

Unlike in Hamburg, the S Bahn Stuttgart mostly connects the city center with the suburbs and the metropolitan region, therefore, the majority of stops are located outside of Stuttgart. The entire network connects 2.7 million people, which is more than the S Bahn Hamburg connects to.

@@yellowsnow7530I believe the S-Bahn Stuttgart is also newer too, and was therefore planned with a higher capacity than back in Hamburg.

They're actually about the same size. A 4-car BR 430 for Stuttgart is 68 metres and a 3-car BR 490 for Hamburg is 66 metres. Thankyou Wikipedia.
