Was not aware of the extent of the massive construction ongoing in the Seaport District. It will certainly give Bostonians a new view of the City. Old and new co-existing. Very informative documentary. Thx AK.
Great video. As a California guy, I love to see part of our history. Then you walked past the fishing pier my great grandfather designed, and finished at a sign for Jimmy’s Harborside, where my brother used to work. As I said, what a great video.
I really like this neighbourhood, in Boston, AK!! Great tour, and great description of how this area is developing!! This is an area that I'd consider, for a home, if I was living in Boston. I really like a "walking community," so if there is good transportation, and stores, and restaurants, nearby, that is terrific for me. I'd like to explore this neighbourhood more, on my next trip to Boston, post-pandemic!! Love your videos of Boston and neighbourhoods!! :-)
18:30 Mi Casa, Your Casa 2.0 - It's an artwork comprised of 16 swings situated inside three dimensional red frames, each one emblematic of a small house. By esrawe + cadena.
Opening shot: the artwork (of intersecting arcs and curves) on the building across the street is by Frank Stella, born 12th May, 1936 in Massachusetts. It's called "Damascus Gate" (stretch variation I), from his "protractor" series begun in the late 1960's.
Need to at least pass by the ICA, and you are right. 10 years ago the whole area was abandoned brick and mortar industrial buildings or abandoned and decommissioned lots, crumbling to dirt. The only building that stood out was the ICA and basically set the architecture for the whole area. It was also surrounded by several blocks of worn down lots, which also made it eye catching.
This is still the most quickly developing are of the city. But it will be underwater by 2050, already floods during severe storms. The developers (and their money) will be long gone by then.
"Taxation without representation" was resolved during the 1760s, before the so-called "revolution". The issue that the taxation was intended to discourage the illegal smuggling of tea and selling them at a lower price. In short: the Founders didn't have clean hands, despite the propaganda.

Wow I never knew Bostons seaport district was undergoing that transformation. Looks like an awesome neighborhood
The change looks dramatic! I wonder what it looked like before.
@@ActionKid A couple old buildings and parking lots
@@JG-id5vi I like how Boston removed a giant highway in the middle of the city and turned a sea of parking into a bustling modern neighborhood

That was a regular traffic bridge, and was operational into at least the 1980s.

"Harbor Walk" was established to guarantee that all Bostonians would have access to the harbor. It is increasingly being PRIVATIZED by the monied.
That construction is on a WHARF.
Lot's of entry-level service jobs for people who can't afford to live there.
There's a shortage of affordable housing -- but overbuilding of condos is booming. Traditional neighborhoods are being driven out for the buck.
What will happen to the fishing livelihood.
Where are all the remnants of Paul Revere and Sam Adams?
Here it is. C port.

No Taxation, Without Representation. No Americans were in the British Parliament. Big Mistake.
Mistake for who?
@@3506Dodge The British, Americans weren't going to put up with that.
@@bkohatl Cool - DC should become a state & Puerto Rico.
Before all this shiny objectism the area was developed and maintained by an arts community. Now they are driven out.
