  • I was lucky enough to get out on the Goldstar 650 a few days ago and rode from San Antoni to Sant Miguel Port along the top of the island. The roads are perfectly suited to motorcycling. In the second part of the video I take a look at the motolug collapseable trailer...

Almost like its made for these roads, I've not been above 40mph for most of it. The manual recommended running in period is 1000 miles at under 60mph with gentle acceleration so it's very timely at the moment... I'm on 860 miles now.

Lovely ride, would love to ride that bike round ibiza in off season, love Puerto san Miguel, love ibiza beautiful island, it's very expensive in summer now though 🇬🇧👍🏍🙂🌞

Thanks Kenneth, yes it's amazing you can be riding for 10 mins and not see another car. The speed of the roads really suit the BSA too, I rarely exceed 40mph, just fab. It's nice weather here now, summer would be actually probably too hot and definitely too expensive! Cheers, Sean

I think it's the new way to tour, drive the boring bits in comfort then unload the trailer and bike. Trailer into car folded up and off you go to ride the nice bits. Will be giving this a practice this year hopefully 🙂

I keep saying it, but what a fantastic location! Thanks for the deeper dive on the trailer, I really appreciated that! It looks like Moto Lug isn't sold here in the US, but I did find what looks to be a very similar US-made trailer, sold at similar prices here.

It's probably the best place we've ever stayed Mark, feeling very grateful. It's hit and miss these Airbnb listings and a bit like eBay you can sometimes tell a good one by looking for clues in the description. It's so nice having outside space which we don't have in our UK house. I've just left the trailer assembled this time, as it can just stay outside safely. Just being able to film outside without getting cold and wet it's a huge difference. The trailer might now feature a bit more as I'm thinking of driving places and then going for a ride rather than slogging 1000s of miles to get to the place you want to ride in some cases... It's very useful and glad I've got it 😃. Thanks 👍

    Hi Sean & Suzie
Catching up atm how beautiful are those roads must be so nice to ride on 💯😊😊
    That’s trailer isn’t bad at all !!
I must admit it bought one a few years ago but couldn’t get used to the reversing so I sold it and wasn’t cheap 😌 so I use the van when I can instead..
like it when suzie tells you to bend youre knees yes she’s right once you assessed the weight that you may lift 😊
    Do as your told lol😂
I’ve just re taken my health and safety and taken H&S tests so many times
    Made me chuckle 😂
Glad your enjoying it, Ibiza, not been since the late eighties lovely place
    Have fun

Hi Phil, hope you are doing well. I must admit I haven't reversed the trailer yet, this is still something I have to over come. It's a brill little thing but I need to have space to turnaround 😂. The roads are lovely, I've just uploaded another video with many beach roads, it really was fab. I'm also going to do some mods to the BSA, perhaps a decat and the instrument cluster kit from Moore Speed Racing. I feel I've had the bike long enough now that it's not just throwing money away 😂. Thanks 🙏👍

We have used our Moto Lug trailer to great effect by actually towing the bike the first 600 miles down to the Black Forest in a day, which is the boring motorway bit. Then taken the bike off, put the trailer in the boot and then gone on a 2-week tour on the bike through Germany (10km to the B500), Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Once back to the car another single day home. So, brilliant for enjoying the really god bits of touring and so much better for the pillion. Yes, we have ridden the whole distance on a few occasions and you can make a nice route via Belgium & Luxemburg.

I have long since opened up to the dual approach of motorcycling. Not for me the tedious, butt numbing 3 days of riding, squashed up with clothes and gear packed to the gunnels, nowhere to store any decent gear for a night out at a nice restaurant, getting soaked to the bone, before the good stuff even begins.
Nope, these days I tow the bike and sit in my stupidly comfy Subaru Forester, all the gear I ever need comfortably packed into the car, and I don't even put a pannier on my bike. Better still I have a twin bike trailer which means:
      1) If my brother comes on his bike he tows them both. I catch the train and he picks me up wherever we are heading to
      2) If I go alone I take 2 of my bikes, giving me the choice of what I want to ride once there.
Sure, there will be iron-butt purists who wouldn't dream of this approach but I have a nice soft butt, and I intend keeping it that way.

Totally agree, find what works and extend your horizons. It works really well for Classic bikes too. I did a lovely tour of Scotland on my Triumph T140ES, where I think the combined 800 miles of motorway to get there and back would have been to much for us and the bike. @@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne

Thanks both for the comments. You know the more I use this trailer the more I begin to appreciate it. I would of hated to ride the BSA all this way down here but sat in my car with the radio on, food and snacks in hand and all the luggage one man (and his misses ☺️) needs packed in, bike on the trailer it's not a bad drive at all. I think for motorcycle tours in future I'll start driving the boring bit, rolling the bike off and actually have fun riding the nice bits. I did 400-500 mile days on a couple of tours to Slovakia and Norway actually on this channel and all those motorways weren't memorable at all. Cheers, Sean

@sweeny1972 I looked up the location and it's in Fredrickstad which is south of Oslo, I think it will be warm come mid August so t shirt weather. Up in the Fjords it can be a lot colder. The cabins they have for camping are fantastic, it's almost a tradition in Norway and they are called Hytte. Looks like you are just above some islands and a national park so it will be stunning! Definitely a trip to be excited about.

Nice ride Sean on dry roads, lovely 😊 toured in Europe every year since 89 always starting from France except twice, and places have changed so much in that time, frejus in the south of France one of our favourite places is, I imagine, 3 times the size it was on our first visit in the early 90s, 😂 …. @PeterHolland-mu7yn it is on my list to ride along Normandy and D day beaches! Then perhaps over to Arnhem and follow the path of Market Garden. There's so much history in that area. Funny you mention Vespa I'm beginning to like them more and more, just so well designed. I sat on the 300 in Ibiza town and of course over here everyone is riding them!
