Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) or Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR is an under-construction high-speed rail line connecting India's economic hub Mumbai with the city of Ahmedabad. When completed, it will be India's first high-speed rail line.
Construction was expected to begin by April 2020, and the project was expected to be completed by December 2023. Due to delays acquiring land in Maharashtra, a completion date for the whole corridor is uncertain, though the 352km stretch through Gujarat may open in 2027. A stretch of 50 km (31 mi), from Surat to Bilimora, is expected to be completed by 2026.

Speed is never a waste of money. I remember traveling in trains for 2-3 days. Now air travel has cut the time of travel. But with airports, they are generally outside the city, and you have to book a taxi or something else to get inside the city. Also for such a large population and country, every mode of transport that cuts time, is welcome. Those who want comfort and convenience won't mind paying a bit more to get from point A to point B.
Indian travelers too deserve and are demanding comfort and convenience.

    1) Eco system should not be disturbed

Elevated lines will require considerably less land acquisition to be performed. In India land prices are going through the roofs, many infrastructure projects are stuck in design and land acquisition process for years, there will always be someone who is unwilling to let go of their land. In elevated mode, only the land where the pillar rests will need to be acquired, people can still carry out their tasks on the ground level. Even farmers can continue to carry out farming activities on the ground level around the pillars. For a densely populated country such as India, building railways and highways on pillars and allowing the general public to use the land on the ground would be the best compromise between land acquisition and displacing people. Cost of elevated construction can be offset against the time and money needed for land acquisition.

    • @smeety26

Elevated trains. Tracks and highways are the future. And no accidents, faster and safer

    • @naveenvenkateshk
      @naveenvenkateshk Год назад +8

@@smeety26 all that is good, but in practical terms it’s not being done. The reason is load restrictions. If you are building elevated highways and railways then there will be a constraint on the amount of load you can carry over them. More than half the trucks plying on Indian highways are well above the legally permissible weight. If multiple such vehicles travel on elevated sections, then it causes safety issues for everyone on the highway and under the highway. In India we Indians can’t enjoy good things because there always be a few people who will abuse and misuse the system such that no one can enjoy good things. That’s the curse of India. It’s one of the contributing factors to why we are still a 3rd world developing country.

Depends on the HSR trains used as well. The French TGV routes are very much like a roller coaster because those trains are meant to negotiate tight curves and steep inclines regularly at high speeds of 300 km/h and more. However, their passenger capacity is slightly reduced due to using Jakobs bogies (these bogies help the TGV to negotiate a tougher terrain but make the length of the coaches shorter).
The Japanese Shinkansen requires very straight, level tracks. Hence, the elevated route. Japan was willing to provide a soft loan like this so its alright if we have taken them as an option. France is still a technical advisor.

The tokaido shinkansen have a curve of 2500m while capable of operating at 285 km/h. The Tohoku shinkansen is around 4000m while operating at 320 km/h. That is usually the spec for a 250 km/h line for other countries.

I am surprised to listen that earth work and land cost will be more. This is exactly opposite to what is thought in colleges and database available till date. Maintaining gradient on land is far far easy than on viaduct.
    Drawbacks of viaduct:
    1. Settlement of foundation
    2. Maintainance of post tensioning girders and account for loss of tension.
    3. What about future expansion?
    4. Construction cost of viaduct is way way more than constructing big walls . Way can be provided for cattles and wild life just like they did it in Samruddhi Mahamarg from Nagpur to Mumbai.
Bro, 8lane highway can be constructed on land, ask them to construct it on viaduct as land cost is more. Seriously man , disappointed to see this video. Poora civil engineering k basics ki waat laga di.

There are disadvantages to having via ducts since soil subsides after sometime. And constant adjustments should be made both laterally and vertically. There is also a higher chance of derailment given the direction of wind and the train at curves. Resonance is also an issue for viaducts. If accidents happen they will most likely be more fatal.
Maglev tech could be used to prevent derailment. However the operation cost would be very high but if the passenger is good enough then it could be sustainable.

  • @justrandomdm

With the DFCs coming into the picture, I could see a majority of freight traffic shifting towards them in the coming years and I hope Indian Railways has the plan to develop existing infrastructure for passenger transport and realize high-speed rail on them. A mixed traffic solution is a more feasible and better way of utilization for HSR.
Unless and until there is a modal shift in long-distance transport and it works on Bullet trains only, I don't see a breakeven happening for NHSRC with the current flight prices going down. Yeah, railways are sustainable, but are we going towards sustainability now? Money and time are the key factors on which our country is focussed right now.
What We should consider is: Mixed Rail traffic with sustainable urbanization should be taken into account. Connectivity between regions decreases the load on the Mega-cities and increases the opportunity for people from other regions to not get restricted to work just in the cities that they work on. Economic regions should be developed. Regional Commuting like RRTS should be brought in. Segmenting rail transport into regional and National makes a lot of sense and connectivity seems like the solution for better growth of the country. I highly doubt how bullet trains will help us realize the goals of HSR whilst we are still lagging in upgrading our existing rail Infrastructure. Yeah - I know sometimes you have got to run before you can walk. And is this our country's way of taking a leap of faith? I'd want to see our country run on our own legs.
Yeah - Japanese HSR is established. But I hope it provides us with a learning medium and we can develop our indigenous HSR. We've got the skills and the brains for it.

I am not against the concept of bullet train. It is just that our current mainline requires a radical upgrade infrastructure wise. You can bring as many bullet rains you want into the picture, yet with no multimodal connectivity, you are still stuck. TGV works because the urban development in Europe is focussed on Multimodal connectivity and sustainable mobility. The question still exists in the mind of European population who take a Ryan air flight, if it is cheaper than TGV, ICE, Thalys etc. Developments addressing the needs of today without compromising on the abilities of tomorrow are crucial and these are what necessary.
India needs a radical development in Mobility, in both Urban and Mainline!

#AskPt:-Adani's 1600 MW power plant is being built in Godda district of Jharkhand. Which will supply or sell electricity to Bangladesh. But despite being close to the coal mine, coal for the power plant will be sourced from Australia.
    Why so?
Earlier I used to think that Adani power plant is being built in Godda due to abundance of coal in Jharkhand but when coal is to be sourced from Australia. Why not power plant could have been built on a state more near or adjacent to Bangladesh.
After seeking coal from Australia, the nearest port where coal will be unloaded is 430 kilometers away from the power plant. And then the water needed for the power plant will also be brought from Ganga ji, which is 80 to 90 kilometers away.

@@subhasishhore1575 it is more logical to run this for middle class and higher at the beginning, due to the debt, then bring down the costs. If I had to guess, the prices could be around 2000 ₹-5000₹ depending on classes. Again this is very reasonable price, 2 and half hrs to Mumbai to Ahmedabad is faster than flight and it's cheaper than flights too. Mind you a single bullet train costs around 1.15 lack crores. India bought 3 of them. So no way a subsidy will be there until they announce a second project

@@simplyrohith2163 In that case I think it is gonna be a long time before they can recover the money invested, since I do not saying that we have enough passengers to travel praying that money. l wish instead they had used this money to build dedicated high speed freight corridors connecting four corners of the country.

Considering just how many collisions there has been of trains with cattles and other animals, a train travelling at high speed getting into such situation will cause catastrophy. Not to mention some ppl just casually cross rail lines even when there is a railway crossing. Such actions should not be allowed but ye some ppl just dont learn. It is important for safety. Theres also other reasons like land acquisition and such.

Same logic applies for all railways. High speed trains are running across Europe at the speed 300 km/h on surface. Fencing is done properly. Instead of making some VIP route, all normal railway tracks should be upgraded to high speed tracks.

thts the thing this is not europe , local villagers would protest if fencing is done on graded tracks,. less said about people trying to break fences, cross over, throw stones etc etc is a big problem which doesnt happen in european countries . these are the main reasons HSR cannot be done on graded tracks from safety point of view
