In less than 10 minutes I was able to understand all that I've struggled to grasp through lots of other videos. That "A-ha" moment. Your video also gave me so many ideas I can finally pull off. Thanks.
Probably THE most helpful Affinity Photo lesson I've found, and I've looked through a gazillion of them. I've saved this tutorial and now use it as my reference for many aspects of AP. Thank you, Gary, great job!
Many thanks, Gary. Like others glad to see you're covering Affinity Photo which is my preferred app for photo editing. With regards to the bear image at 8:15 an even quicker way to erase the white background is to select Filters>Colours>Erase White Paper. I use this option frequently to create images with a transparent background.
thank you , finally a "to the point" tutorial on Affinity products that work well but are just too ridiculously ambiguous to use. at least the crop tool works now after a year.
plssss plssssss make a complete tutorial series for complete Affinity app, coz everyone now a days is shifting to Affinity from adobe, n recently i bought all of their app as it was in discount
Vid is super helpful. I've migrated from Adobe to Affinity (program ownership > subscription model) and I find it's not as intuitive. But thanks to you, I'm learning how to utilize this program and am finding it to be a great tool. So THANK YOU! Much appreciated.
Thanks so much for presenting an Affinity Photo tutorial. I used it for about two years but it has been very underutilized by me. I am going to fire it up and use some of the tools you used.
Thanks Gary, another great video. I would love to see additional videos regarding Affinity Photo. Just looking, it appears to be a lot of videos on RUclips (not sure of quality). Great cost effective option opposed to Adobe. Have you ever posted your preferred tools that you use on a regular basis? Thanks again for all that you do and for your talents.
I'm not sure which I really prefer. Acorn is great for making quick graphics. Affinity Photo seems best for editing photos. Pixelmator seems to combine the best of both for graphics with photo elements. I switch between the three all the time and really haven't settled for one. But I think most people don't need graphics as much as me (app+web developer) and are just looking to edit photos.
Hi Gary, could you maybe make a video about file extensions and how to organize to make all file types show with best app in finder and open as default with that app. Love your videos, thanks a lot.
I enjoyed your video very much. I agree with Bruno that it would benefit many affinity photo users if you did more tutorials on that app. I would like to see you also do some with Affinity designer. Thanks.
Help needed!! I have cut out an image and the size is 666x375 I want to make it bigger. How do I make it bigger using Photoshop? Any help would be very much appreciated.
After cropping and applying the crop as a new layer, I can't see any of it. It shows it as it's own layer in the layers tab, but there no image in it. I click on the new pixel layer and nothing happens...
Great tutorial!! I'm having an issue though, under the 'refine' menu, I cannot preview the transparent image. All the other previews work except the 'transparent' option. How can I fix this? Thanks in advance!!
@@macmost I figured it out almost immediately after commenting. All I had to do was deselect the background layer. I'm very new to editing, if i'm unable to find an affinity photo tutorial for a specific task, would it be possible to replicate that task using an adobe photoshop (or any other editing software) tutorial? or does Affinity photo pose limitations other editing softwares don't? Excuse me for asking so many questions
My computer is no slouch. But even just using the erase tool on affinity I get lag. Hard lag! It sucks that Affinity isnt even as good as a 10 year old version of Photoshop.
You don't edit text on a PDF. A PDF is like a printed page. If you want to make changes, you go back to the original document (In Pages, Word, InDesign, etc) and change it there and export another PDF.
When I cut out the image and place it on my other photo, the Move Tool doesn't select the image I pasted. What am I doing that is possibly wrong? I was following along so well until I got to that point! All I get is that hand that moves the whole photo around.
This is great but I just want to cut out a rectangle. As an experienced Photoshop user, I can't believe I have to search for a tutorial just to do that!
EXPORT "just" the CUT-Out >> Could You show how to export out just the Cut-Out as a PNG for Futurre Use. NO ONE ever shows that. I guess you could save the FILE as an Affinity file, but I would Like to have the Cut out separate to use in Videos etc. Am I the only person in the world that would do this, I don't think so. People presume You immediately want to add a New Background . . .
Yes, just save a file with only the cutout. Here another video where I talk about this, but not for Affinity specifically. ruclips.net/video/4vKCIWLEY2U/видео.html&t
I have watched a lot of tutorials on cutting photos in affinity. This is by far the best. Thank you!

This has been the best video I've watched on this subject. Never understood it no matter how many Affinity videos I watched ! Thanks !
Glad to see you covering Affinity Photo. I work with it (relatively poorly) and would like to improve.

Best tutorial I have seen on cutting sections of photos, thank you.

other Affinity tutorials do not get to the point , they are all over the place, vague and presumptuous. This one is great! Good work!!!
Nice video Gary, need more such videos of image editing on your channel..
Aaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!! I can finally stop banging my head against a brickwall!!!! Thanks dude, life saver! Take my sub!
You're the man... thanks for this tutorial!

Made my day. Just switched to Affinity.
Amazing, tysm. Liked and subscribed x

This was actually pretty helpful to me a Windows user ha ha! Affinity has some great selection tools. Thanks

@@BMO_Ominous Depends on the task. Sometimes it would be similar to Photoshop, sometimes different.

thanks! Just what I needed
Very neat & concise tutorial. Thank you Sir!

See, I always try to select the background so I can delete it rather than selecting the subject. Maybe that's my first problem.

Make sure you have the Move tool selected, and also that you have that particular layer selected.

way behind adobe photo shop
You are 👍
Way to fast, I can't even figure out where the brush tool is the first tool talked about in the video. Not helpful
Do what I did and pause as you go, very simple.
An absolutely amazing tutorial. Totally agree with @kend4128 !! Thank you ;)
