    Nice video thanks for posting it. Good to drain the fuel out as you did - could have been some water in the bottom of the bowl. Yes there was a little debris - could be from anywhere even from a fuel station manky tank. I wouldn't worry about it. Nice easy to access filter was a bonus.

      Thanks for the positive feedback 👍
      I’m gonna check the filter again in the near future and if there’s anything in there i’ll recommend they have a new pump fitted.
      A mate of mine had his pump fail and it cost £3000 😱😱
      Like you say, easy access so no bother checking it again.

      @@gilberesrepairs It's because when the pump fails 'properly' the 4 injectors need replacing. The glitter you see is what is from the fuel RETURN from the injectors. Each injector is £300. If done properly, you will also have to replace the metal high pressure lines and minimum flush the lines out. £3k bill easily reached.

      @@khalidacosta7133 Yes, major strip out if the pump properly fails!!
      The car is running fine and i only noticed it as part of a routine service. Hopefully head it off before it gets really expensive 👍

    Update: WARNING TO ALL -- got in there all confident only to round off the last bolt I had to take out. They're made of aluminium apparently, found that out after my magnet didn't pick up the other bolt I dropped in the engine bay... already ordered some stainless replacements. Go easy with the ratchet 😅😅 100% my own fault just wanna make that bit clear

    Thank you - at the end, why did you need to put on the ignition then off again six times?

    • @gilberesrepairs
      @gilberesrepairs  4 дня назад

      @@mfree9202 Excellent question 👍
      There’s a fuel pump in the fuel tank, and every time you turn the ignition on, the pump pressurises the fuel system.
      When you open up the filter you introduce air into the system, cycling the ignition/pump pushes the air out and fully fills the filter canister with fresh fuel.
      Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏
      Sandy.

    It was a small amount, but sparkly metal is indeed something you'd rather not see in the engine.
    I've never seen it in the fuel system before though.
    Hope your previously failed fuel pump residue hypothesis comes through!

    • @gilberesrepairs
      @gilberesrepairs  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, the fuel pumps can fail and it contaminates the complete fuel system. You need a new pump, 4 x injectors and every pipe with fuel has to be thoroughly cleaned. The fuel tank has to be removed and steam cleaned and the pump in the tank has to be renewed.
      A friend of mine had it done on his Transporter (same engine) before Christmas and it cost £3000 😱😱😱😱
      Never ignore the glitter 😂

      @@gilberesrepairs The pump failed at 400 000km on my Škoda superb II 2.0 TDI 2 weeks ago I decided to repair it. What is the price ? :D well 2700€. So I highly recommend to change the pump when you are changing the timing belt.

      @@epicpeanutinanutshell8948 Yes, lots of money! Definitely replace the timing belt at the same time as the fuel pump is driven by it. I’m unsure if the water pump is driven off the timing belt?
