Thanks Frank! Always try to get a point in simple and inline if I can. You would be surprised how many of these folks eventually become the finest fly anglers on the water!
@@heyjerryfishing I am allways coming back, just because you are you. Your vids are never like "look I have won the big bass tournament and my sponsors are XYZ". You just fish your way. Keep it like that!
Ive seen a bunch of old heads at the pier using sabiki rigs, absolutely killing it herring fishing in NYC recently, Watched your video last night, and got a sabiki rig after work. Been killing it recently off the pier in bay ridge brooklyn tonight with them! I even got a couple fluke and schoolie stripers with it !
Another fun herring outing. I was there this morning at dawn. Like you had the place to myself. Unlike you I got nothing. I’m going to have to try at sunset. Take care, great vid!
Hi Mike, yea people tend to follow the crowds, I dont mind them when herring fishing gets a good idea whats going on and may stay or may head else where and just enjoy. They been in and out this year seem to be sticking around just having fun with it this year. I think I only went a few times last year so making up for lost time! Thanks as always Mike!
I’ve taken up fishing and watching every video under the sun. Ironically I’m never on my phone when fishing but when I am, I’m watching fishing videos haha. I tried making my own Sabiki rig but may try one of these pre made ones with fish skins. Big 5? Wal mart? Tackle and bait shop? What do you guys find best?
we’ve all been there Jerry! We hear that snap and we go uh oh! Persistence is key and you got some tasty herring! I love that bay, it’s all about locating channels. Had a blast during the late porgy season there by the shore. Never tried the bridge really. Thanks for taking us on another one!!!!
Hi Robert thanks as always look forward to your comments always something to add to the picture. I should have done more porgy and kingfishing last season wish we could fish 2 ways at once that would be cool like a crazy hologram but cant complain every year ends like that should have could have but we all do what we do making the myriad of fishing so colorful!
Great video 👌I still haven’t had any luck on cross bay bridge, I went to Canarsie pier last Sunday for the hide tide before sunset and caught one big & one small herring, this week is supposed to be warmer so will try my luck at the bridge again 😎
Thanks King, they had some good days on the pier I will often roll in there first fish or pull out elsewhere. It is a good indicator if the fish are on the feed or not. All those sabiki in the water too potentially helps hold some. They are about for sure and should stay around through the winter. Thanks as always for watching and commenting!

So cool to hear from Sweden thank you greetings from the NYC NY! I do almost all the time let it sink down to the bottom and bounce but they will hit on the drop
Hi Jerry, great video...I actually paused your last video to get a closer look on how you attached the flasher to the main line, thanks for the details. BTW, what's your opinion on the size of Sabiki hooks? e.g. size 6 vs smaller size 12. Thank you.
Thanks Joe! Yea sometimes when I been doing something a while I take for granted I showed and may have showed and have to remember some folks may have not seen the last video or skipped past and run something likewise again. Iteration for many reason I say! I do prefer the bigger hook US size hook but if its a shorter way up a US size 8 MAY be better. Good question and thanks as always Joe
For years, I had been using the larger sabiki with no success. Last month I used the smaller 1 inch white sabiki and caught 5. When I cut open their bellies, I found 1 inch white minnows or shrimp-like things in there. So my mental note for fishing Jersey is to use those next December. Do you find they hit bigger sabiki later in the season? Or is it a matter of trying a few different sabikis to see what they are preying on at the moment?
Good stuff secret asian man some good points and question. I think the smaller do get more fish too and you are better off with them. But when up in the air I really like the bigger hook. I just orderd some smaller sizes so hope to use them when they get here. Most the time the style and size of sabiki is just what I have. I dont go to nuts with them but the bigger sabiki has a bigger hook that hols that herring coming up 30ft. They will eat shrimp and minnows like you say and found greens and pinks work the best
Jerry - I'm an aspiring filmmaker - NOT! I'd like to buy a action cam and know nothing about them. Maybe to take fishing but mostly to film outings with the grandkids. I like your videos. Very cool Ron, leave your name a few times takes a little for me to learn em ok! I been using the same camera since I started it is the gopro black 3+. They make much newer ones now i think they are up to the 9 or something but this really got a ton of miles on it and still works so I would highly recommend the gopro brand. You can get the new ones out there but ebay still sells the old ones for much less I think the one I use would be no more then 100 bucks and you may be able to get the white or silver for less the 50 bucks now. Mounts sold separate. I like the chest and you will need a case and high quality sd card batteries and charges. sometimes the packages have them included. The settings I use the white or silver do all the same. Hope I been of help Ron!
