I just missed the times we had so much free time and hanging out with friends listening to the gold old screamo bands. Some of them have their own family now. Vidoes like this takes me back once we're young.
And you would still missing it, because none of this clowns are real emo or screamo. Real emo died in 1999. Golden era of Screamo was from 1997 to 1999.

Screamo is a term initially used to describe a more aggressive offshoot of emo. It's basically a combination of emo and hardcore punk that died in the 90's. Bands like Orchid, Saetia, Raein, Ampere, Pg99 and In/Humanity are considered screamo.

What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE

@AVClip well, i must correct my comment, what i meant was that "emo" as a musical genre does not exist anymore, the fact that you dress and comb your hair as an emo kid doesnt mean that your music is "emo", most of this video's bands are Post Hardcore, if you ask me what is emo then, i can mention bands like Gray Matter, Fuguzi and Moss Icon, in other words.. emo as a genre turned into something that now is called Post Hardcore :)

@krizzle37 ok i think your right. but i coulda swore emo was the root word of emotional. which it doesnt mean cutting yourself or liking the color black. emotional is just having feeling and if your listen to the lyrics of each "emo" song, you will notice there is a shitload of emotion. ETF for example. listen to Ashley or You are so beautiful. its not cutting or bleeding. thats what i believe. if im wrong please dont criticize me. krizzle i also think your description is right
@guitarme4life actualy the term emo came from the genre of music Emocore wich later became used to label people who listened to that genre of music, but now present days it just means what you explained

@TheSauronator well i didn't say it was the BEST metal. i just think it sounds metal. the songs may not have the awesome solo's that makes GOOD metal kick ass but the guitar and other instruments make it sound metalish. listen to the songs... do they sound like any other MAIN genres to you? i dont think its sounds close to anything else.

Very very good emocore in this fucking world, you make réal emotional great hc, the findest with nyhc for me.
It does my heart good to know that there are others out there who listen to decent stuff. This is true music, unlike Lil Wayne and his "I'm gonna pick the world up and I'm gonna drop it on ya fuckin head," fuck rap.
