Purchased this last month. I'm enjoying it so far. I've only driven Sedans prior to this purchase and it's the perfect size. I didn't want a full size SUV with a bunch of unused space.
Why didn’t get the new Chevy trax ?
Good review, I completely overlooked this model. Priced well nicely equipped.
Thanks!
Thanks for this video. My Wife's lease is up, and The Dealer threw out The Kona as an idea because we've been doing Elantras for our past three cars. She wanted a Subaru or AWD due to our lousy weather, but our wallet/purse has dictated we stay Elantras. Just sent her this video to see what she thought. You did great breaking it down for us. Thank you!
Awesome! Thanks for commenting. Let me know what you think of the Kona after take a look in person.
Simple yet little modern tech. I have a 2019 and I feel confident with the buy. Handled great in the snow and handles great. The interior isn't meant for luxury as they had to minimize everything down to weight plus safety. This is all around perfect
Great to hear! You are correct in saying the Kona is not targeted at the luxury segment of vehicles.
@@CarsMadeSimple but no one said it was
I got this car yesterday. Cool car.
Awesome, congrats!
How much was it? We're looking too.
@@dianecelento4974 I got my 2022 for $26,000.
@@lindsaymoore2928 Thanks for letting me know. We've been considering the 2023 Kona limited. Asking is $31,800 plus $750.00 rebate.
I LOVE my 2022 Kona! Mine is in blue wave. This looks identical to my 2022, except I have black seats! My favorite feature is the Apple car play!
Awesome! Blue Wave has actually been discontinued believe it or not. I learned that after I shot all of my Kona videos. There are a couple new colors coming for the second part of the 2023 model year.
I have a 22 kona. Looking forward to the 24s when I turn this one in
Do you recommend this Kona sel fwd over the venue.
That's an interesting one. For the price of the Kona SEL FWD you can get the Venue Limited. Each one will have a few features the other will not. The biggest benefits of the Venue Limited would be the LED headlights/taillights , Heated Seats, Auto Climate Control, and Wireless Charging Pad. The things that stand out to me in the Kona SEL, are the power drivers seat and wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay. You lose these in the Venue Limited due to built in navigation. The Kona would be my pick from a platform/drivetrain stand point as it will have more power available. If you consider the Kona SEL Convenience, you will get most items found in the Venue Limited minus the LED Headlights/Taillights.
Thank you!
Pretty sure the front passenger just amputated the legs off anyone who would have sat behind him.
Let's be honest, that entire back row is what we used to call "insurance seats"... nobody with actual legs attached to their bodies could sit comfortably back there.
Yes I know it's a cheap subcompact, but don't try and say it has "almost as much room as the Tucson"... it's not even remotely close.
I actually like the Kona. This is a good starter car for a teenager or young single person... it's a two seat sport coupe with pretend rear seating for insurance purposes.
Can you please provide the timestamp to where I said it has almost as much room as the Tucson?
@@CarsMadeSimple i paraphrased, my bad, but at 9:42 you stated rear passenger room as "slightly smaller than most compact hatchbacks"... which made me think of the Compact Tucson... I wasn't outraged, I just thought you made it sound like a minor difference in room when it is in fact quite a large difference... also, throughout the video in the back, you can see the front passenger seat leaves basically zero leg room to whomever might sit behind him (a shining example of how little room is in the back).
I wasn't mad, just thought the comment was misleading. Once again, I didn't listen to your comment multiple times which is why I didn't get the quote 100%... I listened to it once and thought you were saying minor difference from the compacts, which made me think Tucson.
I love Hyundai cars... ive always considered the Kona as the smaller Tucson... I know the Kona is a subcompact and the Tucson is a compact... that's why your comment threw me off. I listened to the video once and I just heard "slightly less than a compact", that's what stuck in my head.
Do the back seats fold?
Yes! 60/40 split folding.
$27k for very compact cuv but not even leather steering wheel
I’d probably buy a Chevy Trax it’s bigger and has more space
No sunroof either?
no heated seat?
Heated Seats are in the Convenience Package
Everything in me saying get the Chevy Trax vs this Kona lol
Both the Kona and Trax have an all new generation for their 2024 model years. They are very solid options but so have many differences as the Kona offers way more tech and features in its top trim but the Trax is a good budget option in the mid $20k range. I would compare either the Kona SEL or SEL Convenience FWD to the Trax Activ or 2RS.
The screen on the dash is in the wrong position as it makes a blind spot for the driver, the Nissan screen is much safer. The seat is cramped for the driver, they are making these smaller to save themselves money and means its not so comfortable. Lack of legroom in the back and the front for the passengers, not nice. Tends to slide in rain when turning, even though it is 4WD. Not a nice vehicle for the price.
So would you say that perhaps just the FWD version is probably the better buy?
I HATE Nissan tech. It always glitches! I've driven 3 different models & won't ever buy one
Wit dis car, I'm gunna drive to da KONA stoe to buy sum licka anda pack of cigaws 🤔
