My First Car was a 68 Coronet 500 My grandfather bought it for me . Automatic bucket seats console A Light yellow with black vinyl top little directional lights in the fender tops. I Dream of that car now at 65 years old. My first love affair. At the time I put air shocks to raise the rear a bit and wider tires in the rear she was by no means quick with the 318 in it 727 transmission. Mickey Thompson mags all around, She was a looker and my first love. years later in the US Navy stationed up in Maine I had the opportunity to purchase the same car minus the vinyl top for 200 dollars from a Navy Air squadron guy who was shipping out to Spain, I and some Military friends used the base garage to freshen it up to just ready for paint and it became my shuttle from Maine to Long Island on weekend liberties
That is one beautiful bee. Started out my hobby or lifestyle with a 1976, 4 door Dodge Dart straight six. Some 25 years later I have quite a collection of muscles, including a 68 charger and a 69 runner. One of these days I will stumble across a bee myself. Always nice to see the younger generation taking up interest in car restoration, I know for sure it kept me away from a lot of trouble in my younger days.
I measured the bumble bee stripe on my 1970 Charger R/T 440/6 BARREL just now. The stripe is off 1/4 inch like mark pointed out on his car in shop. I also have the factory build sheet I found inside springs in back seat. I'm learning a lot here, and I'm 62 years old.
I'm almost 60 years old and I'm on disability so I'll never be able to afford that super Bee or even one similar to it but if I could I would love to have a tribute Corey that exact same shade of green that is just greatest shade of green I've ever seen I love it 💚
Of the 661 Hardtop Automatics, 102 were F6 Spring Green. 88 were 96 "Bahama Yellow" (Plymouth = Butterscotch). A34 Axle pkg WAS NOT included on Fender tag. It's part of the A12 package.
Mark How long Have You been Restoreing These Great Cars. I love the Mopar . I Learned To Drag Race In The 70s. Mopar is The Best Cars Made in The 70s. Love Your videos. 💘
I have loved this color since the first time I saw it. My question is this car's color looks lighter than others I've seen over the years in photos. Does it have to do with lighting. Or how it is sprayed on the car. I have notice it also with pinks car from 70 as well.
My 71 Charger RT 440 magnum from downtown dodge in Chattanooga, had 14" wide US slot mags with G60 14 front and back. my 71 Challenger 318 had craigers. the RT was the best!
Now the show is much better without all the drama. We see great cars, hear part numbers, learn techniques, and remember back to the days when these cars were everywhere. We miss HOLLEY though. Did Allyssa loose the rose name?
Correction by Bluto: engines were not rated in brake hp in 1969. It was as Mark does know, a *gross* hp rating that was preferred at that time in the US: engine on the test stand no accesories and a very abbreviated exhaust. Mathematical corrections were also used for atmopsheric condition and the test represented a close to ideal state. Often a batch of the same engine was tested and the best numbers were used as published data, Then in '71 it went to net hp- engine installed with accesories- and in the modern era we use bhp. SAE standards exist for these different types; note that 390 gross hp was just called "hp" back in 1969 but the vast majority of the population and 390 gross is different from 390 net or 390 bhp. An easy trap to fall into for any and all of us no matter our experience. Great episode!
@@BloodRaven1969 😃Advertisement info...stuff used to sell cars. Show me the test stand they used at Chrysler and the SAE spec they used; that's the real bit. Oh, and we both know that dynos were not common back then and each one was a little different regarding outputs. I beleive that the copy says what it says and I beleive you saw it. I just don;t beleive that a US car maker was choosing actual bhp over its competitors use of gross hp during the thick of the hp wars.
@@BloodRaven1969 I agree with that point 100% it had been around for generation, in aviation. Sure. But we both know that it was not the industry standard. Engine could be rated in kW as well but the US automotove unit that was the accepted normal was gross hp. Look at it this way- if that was really 390 brake hp, that's roughly 500 gross hp and that would be a world-beating rating in 1969, in an era when an LS6 was huge news at a reported 450 hp.
Great Car... Great Restoration .. BUT.. ( as usual ).. Got to have Mark W's STUPID F#&N SH&T SHOW.. Look at me.. Look at me.. ( arrrrrrrrrrrrrggg ).. I know i say this a lot.. But i really hope this is an Act with him and he's NOT Really Like This.. It's " PAINFUL " to sit through...
And By The Way.. The Name Dropping ?? You HAVE to do that.. it's a business... It's just Mark's EFFEED UP SCHTICK .. Everything else?? is fine.. This show would be SOOOOOO much better if someone ELSE would narrate and he was NEVER on camera... ( ok.. i think i'm done bitching ).. for now..
No one at home knows? I'm sorry, I'm a Gen X'er, and was saying all of this stuff right along with mark. I don't Google answers, I Google the process used in deducing an answer myself... Marks right. Google is EXACTLY why millenials and Zoomers are idiots. The internet ruined the world...
You have a point. Knowing stuff is important; not only does it generate confidence in the person knowing things, but it makes them appear competent. verall being knowledgable beats hell out of being ignorant, obviously. However it is not 100% a black and white issue: Einstein once mentioned that remembering everything was pointless: people wrote down facts in books so you could look things up. He would have loved the internet. I would rather say that the Cult Of Ignorance, in which not knowing things is a badge of honor nand even a goal, is ruining the world. It gains members every day.
This episode is exactly why I watch this show.
I live only a couple of hours from Syracuse.
It was so cool to watch this video and hear the background on the car

Need to look for this car at the Syracuse Car Show.
I love the fact that you never take shortcuts in your workmanship!!!2022
Super bee 6 pack really needs original black steel rims w redline tires. My favorite all time muscle car
Yes it does! Only prob is they just spin...lol
That was a truly awesome episode humbling guy Mark Worman

My favorite car and favorite year!

Finally my favorite Mopar :)

I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t kill for a car like that super bee.

I bet that was fun trying to seat the bead on them. I ran 8" wheels with G60s and 10" wheels with N50s. Never saw any 14" wheels.

Guess what? A12's DO NOT have A34 code on fender tag. It's within the "A12 Code".
OK... I want to know how Graveyard Cars "restored" this Super Bee grill ! Do they have a bright dip bath in the back !?? Please.....
Might have been the angle filmed at , but it looked as if the shifter in the Super Bee , needed to be re-bushed.

I refer you to 12:07 This is from original 1969 ad info, I've seen it myself at one of the vendors at Chryslers At Carlisle.

@@bbb462cid Just saying that the term bhp WAS out there in print.
